We stayed 2 nights at Mariposa and also booked a trip to Caracol and will definitely be back. The staff is very accomodating, and will do anything they can to make your trip better. Their guide Augusto is very knowledgeable (almost too much, be prepared for a history lesson and a quiz afterwards by Sharon ;) ) We had lunch at Caracol, and while the rest of the large guided groups were pulling out brown sack lunches, we were having empanadas, banana cake, pasta salad, and chips with fabric napkins, place mats, etc. Also it was nice that they were willing to take just my husband and I on the tour, as opposed to the groups of 10 people, we had the trip to ourselves. Following our stop at Caracol we went to the Rio On Pools. My suggestion here, is that you use the restroom at Caracol and change into your swimsuit either there, or in the dressing rooms at the pools. The restrooms at the Pools are small and extremely dirty (think bad outhouse with doors not closing tight, lizards on the wall, etc,) The jungle bbq at Mariposa is definitely worth doing. We had a great night hike through the jungle, and enjoyed great food and conversation under the brightest stars I've ever seen. Next time I definitely want to spend one night sleeping on the bird tower. As far as the rooms-- they are nicely furnished. I loved going to sleep every night being able to hear the sounds of the outdoors, as I was sleeping in a nice soft bed. Next time we will spend more time in the jungle at Mariposa, and less on the beach at San Pedro. We loved it!
