I stayed 7 nights in the Klosterhof Hotel with my wife and my 3-years old son. We reserved a suite and paid € 61,50 per person, thus € 123 per night (our son was free of charge). Our suite on the 2nd floor was perfectly sized, with high quality furniture from oak, a wooden oak floor and beautiful decoration. It was equipped with a big double bed, a single bed, a big closet, 2 comfortable armchairs, a small table, a big flat screen TV with a good choice of TV chanels and a walk-in closet. The only important thing missing was a fridge, as we didn't have the possibility to cool some drinks. This was the only negative point I would like to mention. Furthermore, the rooms didn't have an airconditioning system.
The bathroom was big, too, very clean, equipped with high quality materials and a huge and comfortable shower.
Our room was heading backwards, with a big balcony towards the swimming pool area. On the balcony were two comfortable chairs and a small table. Our room was perfectly quiet. As our room didn't have A/C, we left the sliding door to the balcony open the whole night, to get some fresh air. Due to the heat wave that week (>35°C) we didn't sleep like angels, but with the open door it was ok.
Breakfast was included and it was an excellent continental breakfast (no cooked breakfast). It offered different types of bread (some home-made), cheese and ham, a huge selection of cereals, different yoghurts, different jams (partially home-made), boiled eggs, cake, different juices (some home-made) etc. At night, they don't offer meals, but you can order a platter with cold cuts (ham and cheese) and bread or sandwiches. Since the owners do also produce their own wine, you can get their (excellent) wine and all kind of other drinks, which you can consume on their cozy terrace.
The swimming pool is perfectly sized for such a small hotel, there is enough space for children to play. The area around the pool is perfectly maintained and they offer deck chairs and fresh towels for free. The pool is not heated, but due to the high temperatures during our stay you could use the swimming pool from morning to evening.
I would also like to mention that the owners and the staff were very friendly, helpful and hospitable. They gave you valuable tips where to go for dinner or what to do around. Furthermore, they offered a lot of books and guides, which the guests could use for planning their daily activities. They offer so many little "extras", which make this hotel very special.
The Klosterhof is situated in a quiet part of Kaltern, just outside of the city centre. The distance is just 5-10 minutes walking and Kaltern offers everything you need: nice restaurants and bars, ice-cream parlours, supermarkets etc.
The Klosterhof is really an excellent choice if you want to spend a couple of days in the beautiful Südtirol region. I can highly recommend this hotel!
