“Snug as a bug”
Reviewed 4 weeks ago for a stay in June 2018

Thank you Jo for a fabulous break in your lovely cabin. It had everything that we needed and the location was perfect. The bed was so comfy and the cabin didn’t get too warm. Lovely to watch the red squirrel on the fence as we had our breakfast and the decking got the sun most of the day. We were so lucky with the weather that we were out everyday. The site is lovely and the Loft restaurant was so good that we went back three times. With so much still to see in the area we hope to be back soon

“Shame about the trains”

Just back from our Christmas holiday in poppy lodge and I hate to disagree with every one else but we didn't have a great time. the lodge itself is cosy and comfortable but........

Whoever took the photo's deserved a medal, as the lodge is tiny compared to what I was expecting after looking through the supplied photo's.

The WiFi as advertised didn't work and when it did the speed was 0.18mbps, so keeping in contact with the world was by text. As waiting 5 mins for just the Google homepage to load isn't what I would call acceptable WiFi , old school dial up was faster.

But my main complaint that no one in any other reviews mentioned is the lodge's position to the train track and the fact it shook the lodge every hour from about 6am in the morning until 10pm at night, so being a light sleeper, I didn't get a lot

So the photos below are the location of the train track from the bedroom window, from the side of the lodge and the speed test of the WiFi connection

Thanks for the review.
I’m sorry you were disappointed with your visit, we do try hard to please everyone who stays, but sometimes that isn’t possible, as peoples expectations differ.
Poppy lodge is a timber cabin, not a house. Like most professional photos of a property they were taken with a wide angle lens which can make rooms look larger than they are, this is to show as much of the space as possible and should not be viewed as representative of actual size.
The Wifi was faulty due to a damaged cable at the exchange and was repaired by BT the day after you left, these things happen!
The fact that no one else mentions the trains in reviews shows that for most people it’s not an issue.

“Autumn Trip”
Reviewed October 4, 2017 for a stay in September 2017

We had a fantastic mini holiday in Poppy Lodge. The weather was quite wet but we were more than happy to stay inside with the electric fire on and watch lots of the great movies provided. The kitchen is perfect for self catering, the bedrooms are a great size and the bathroom was lovely and clean. The caravan park is just a short walk into the village and to the castle/nice walks. We enjoyed using the swimming pool on site too!

“Perfect ”
Reviewed April 22, 2017 for a stay in April 2017

Would definitely recommend this accommodation. Cosy lodge describes it perfectly. Everything you need within the perfect setting. Brilliant location. We were only there for the weekend. We all wished we were staying longer. We never needed to use the car once as there are some lovely walks setting off just outside the site. Would definitely like to return in the future.

“Beautiful, cosy lodge in a great location”

This is the second time my family has stayed in Poppy Lodge and we would highly recommend it.

It is a lovely, cosy lodge and is equipped with everything you need for a short break/holiday including lovely touches like tea/coffee and biscuits. There were also lots of everyday cupboard items (salt/pepper/sauces) and toiletries too.

The park itself is very well looked after and the lodge is in a great location next to the river which was nice and peaceful.

There are lots of nice walks and places to visit near by .

We really enjoyed our stay and are hoping to return later in the year.

Fantastic cosy country decor and everything you need for a comfortable stay. We had 3 staying and plenty room for us...it may have been trickier with 4 adults as space is limited but we managed fine.

Owners are great to deal with, good range of equipment / kitchen items / DVD's etc., and you get used to the trains passing pretty quickly (and they don't go past too eat or too late!).

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay
