Jesabel and Aaron were perfect hosts for our stay In Malta, and The Loft proved to be a beautiful, stylish accommodation with excellent facilities, and space, which suited our needs perfectly. We were after a spacious apartment, with outside space to eat/drink and lounge in...not necessarily in the centre of everything, but not too far removed from it.
The location was ideal - slightly off the beaten track, but walking distance away from Haz Zabbar (quiet) and Marsascala (more lively). There is a bus stop a two minute walk away from the apartment, where three different bus routes stop - two which go to the capital (Valletta) - and easily accessible from the airport (and cheaply: 1.50€ for a day ticket). In fact, with Malta being such a small island, lots is easily accessible...even by foot.
We wanted to spend half the week cooking/eating in and the cooking facilities there are great: a four plate gas powered hob and a microwave oven (which can be used as a grill or conventional oven). On top of this, a wide range of utensils are available. Also, there being a sizeable supermarket less than five minutes walk away was a great help, as we did not have a car.
The apartment itself looked just like the photographs, and more - a contemporary look which such details as the exposed stone brick walls to hint at it's history. Wonderful outside space too: a totally enclosed garden with table and seating (ideal for eating breakfast at) and two terraces...the roof terrace having two reclining sun loungers, and is not overlooked.
To top it off, it was the little extras and attention to detail that made our stay more than satisfying: a welcome pack of milk; cereals; bread etc. proved a great help alongside coffee; teas; salt and pepper; washing up liquid etc. - the little things that are pointless buying for a week's holiday.
All in all: a wonderful apartment, and excellent value for money. Jesabel and Aaron proved to be great hosts: informative, helpful and very accommodating; but not overbearing.
We would, without the slightest of hesitations, wholeheartedly recommend The Loft to anyone.
THINGS TO CONSIDER:
The reclaimed stone staircase (leading up to the bedroom and bathroom) is beautiful, but a bit on the small side, so could be problematic for people with mobility issues.
The 'communal' swimming pool is on the hosts' property (5 mins walk away), so you need to inform them in advance when you wish to use it - not really a problem, but it does mean impromptu visits aren't really possible.
Ps. The hosts also make great tasting Olive Oil
