As a citizen in USA I am used to fancy hotels. I have had poor experiences at european hotels in the past, so I was not sure what to expect with this hotel. Monika spoke very good english on the phone and I was able to get one week parking arranged as well as billing to corporate account with ease. I also arrived during closed hours but was able to get my room key from a "digibox". The room is spacious enough for one person, included safe box and private bath. Some people gave poor reviews of this hotel back in 2009, 2010 but there have been upgrades to this hotel since then.
This hotel is in the center of Lorrach, but located on main routes so getting in and out of the city during peak hours was not difficult. Many restaurants in the area as well as shopping, banks, and train station. The streets can be slightly noisy at night, particularly on Friday/Saturday night, however when window is closed this was not a bother.
I was very impressed by the friendly service received at this hotel. As an "outsider" to this area, I felt very welcomed by the hotel staff, and they made sure all of the details for my stay were handled. I have not had such good service in five star hotels.
This hotel offers a breakfast, and I believe it is one of the finest I have ever encountered. It is self-serve with exception of the coffe/tea, and there is a very large selection of meats, cheese, cereal, breads, juices, eggs.
As this is a business trip, there were so many nights I came home late and had not the time to find a diner, but the breakfasts were so hearty this was not a problem.
