Ive just visited this establishment for the 3rd time in a little over a month for sunday lunch. To say i was dissapointed is an understatement. Could not fault my previous 2 visits hence my eagerness to return again. We arrived around 6pm and it was fairley quiet. We were asked to wait on the leather settes as you come in and were giving a menu whilst we waited for a table even though there were pllenty empty and set and asked if we would like a drink. i ordered a pint of stella and a large glass of house red for my partner.Ten minutes later a waitress came over and asked if we would like to order. i asked if there was other meats on as only roast beef was on the menu given to me. sorry was her reply we have been really busy and only beef was left. fair enough so we ordered a starter and the beef. another five minutes passed and still no drink. alas it arrives and we were shown to our table. starter was ok garlic mushrooms and chicken patte. The fun started when the beef dinner arrived. Two miserly pieces of beef with a yorkshire pudding which was bordering on burnt which i swear was aunt bessies with a few roast potatoes in the pudding. THE VEG ARRIVED NEARLY ANOTHER 5MINS LATER WHICH WAS 3 PIECES OF CAULIFLOWER A COUPLE OF BITS OF BROCILLI AND ABOUT 6 OR 7 BATONS OF CARROTTS. That was it. We asked the waitress if that was it becaucse the previous 2 visits there was turnip and creamy mash. Next minute the manager came to our table who we hadnt asked to see.. He said crouching down next to our table i understand there is a bit of a problem. We told him about our wait between beef and veg arriving and the lack of it and our concerns about frozen produce on the plate and also that the large wine i ordered did not look like a large 1 He told us they had been really busy and that they had run out of stuff. what a cheek and also they dont do large glasses of wine only 125ml and 175ml hence the half glass. a couple of minutes later he left our table with our dinner now nearly cold with the offer of I CAN DO YOU SOME MASH AND MORE VEG. We declined his offer and left paying the bill with an half hearted apolgy and the excuse ringing in our ears that they have been really busy. No way will i ever take my custom there again.

Visited the Bistro for a celebration meal ... it took 25 minutes to get our order in even though the the place was not over busy.. and this because we had to remind the manager twice that we were not being attended to.. When the food arrived it was excellent & the waitress service first class...shame about the waiting time though

Beautiful outside eating area and inside, the bistro has the perfect ambience. I love anti-pasta and the platter here is to die for. The only thing missing is a few slices of cheese and I always ask this to be added and the staff who are very polite and friendly don't mind at all. Love it!

I went with friends for lunch at the Bistro. As it was a lovely day we chose one of several empty tables outside. Once seated we were asked by a very grumpy waitress if we had booked a table. We said we hadn't but as none of the tables had a reserved sign on them we presumed it was ok to be seated. The look from this woman said it all! We presumed we should not have been sat there. Although we weren't asked to move the poor service only confirmed our suspicions that we should not have sat at the table! We did not feel welcome the whole time we were there. Interestingly enough though the other tables remained unoccupied for the whole 90 minutes we were there so no idea what the problem was.
The food was average at best when it eventually arrived. My salad was drenched in acidic dressing which completely ruined the meal. And it was definately overpriced.
If I return I only hope the grumpy staff member has been retrained at some charm school or other.
