“Beautiful restaurant on the water!”

We ate here our first night in Barbados and were not disappointed. It is a beautiful setting and we loved being right next to the beach. Food was good, expensive but overall experience was great!

“Fantastic location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 25, 2013

Before being shown to our table we had cocktails(which were wonderful) in a room, the walls of which were adorned with an eclectic collection of Bajan inspired art. Our party of 7 were shown to the restaurant, which, with the exception of The Cliff, was the nicest I have been to in Barbados.

To start I chose crab & prawn crab cakes which when presented on the plate and resembled a pair of.....shal I say miniature rugby balls. It was served with a delicous curried coconut sauce and pickeled cucumber. As there was no decernable taste of either crab or prawn it required the sauce to carry the dish.
Wine: Petit Chablis

For my main I ordered a fillet steak with mashed potato, crispy onion and bacon. This was a nice plate of food, which, had the steak been rare, as ordered (not medium to well) would have been excellent.
Wine: Malbec

Desert was an apple tart tatin which was, well, just delicious.
Espresso

I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant.Try and get a sea front table if possible.

Our bill came about $1000BDS.

I enjoyed our meal here, we had a lovely table by the sea and the staff were happy and friendly. The food was good, well presented and tasty and a comfortable relaxed atmosphere.

“The tides out on this one”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 25, 2013

As we were staying in a villa we decided that we would go to one of the 'fine dining' restaurants that we'd read about. We used Trip Advisor to help us choose and had high expectations about our trip to The Tides. Well really it was incredibly disappointing. The food was OK, but nothing on meals we've had in the UK at far less cost. Perhaps we chose the wrong dishes, but only my daughter really loved her main course. My husband who is allergic to cheese chose a monkfish dish that ended up having cheese all over it (not mentioned in the menu) which also spilt things as we had finished eating before he got his replacement. The atmosphere was overly grand and the other diners felt like they were from a different generation! Puddings were the best bit, but overall really not worth the money - or the Trip Advisor rating.

“excellent food in the lovely setting”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 23, 2013

we went for lunch there, and the food was the best we had eaten in the two weeks we stayed in barbados.
the service was exemplary
we had eaten at other establishments on the island (including champers) but this was the best.
