We stayed at Tropical Sunset from the 15th to 30th of January and could not have had a better holiday experience - perfect location, spotlessly clean, everything you need and the loveliest people. Our huge thanks to Hannah, Curly, Kevin, Lisa and everyone else - it is you who makes Tropical Sunset so special. We'll be back as soon as we can!!

Room Tip: Having a room and covered terrace on the ground floor makes it easier to cope with the occasional tr...

Booked ten days at the Tropical Sunset apartments from the 20th January. Unfortunatly my wife was hospitalised and we could not travel resulting in us staying in rainy Wales. The management/owners did not charge a cancellation fee (usually over $500) which we thought was very generous. We will definitely be re-booking these apartments when my wife is able to travel as the owners come across as very genuine people.

My wife and I stayed 22 nd nov until 20 dec 2013 ,really impressed with the work Hannah & John have made to the former Sunsweptbeach hotel .Its very much improved from when we were here last feb .Lots of sun loungers both on the beach & round the pool .The pool area & rooms were spotless .The staff ,Hannah & John couldn't have been more helpfull even down to asking us to make a list of anything we felt needed doing or improving .,There was lots of hot water for the showers in the evening which used to be a problem on our past visits .
We are back again next month can't wait

My niece and I stayed here mid December and had a lovely welcome from the staff. The room was big, bathroom simple and small but adequate. Big balcony right on the beach. Beach couldn't have been closer. Also, a friendly bar there too.
Hotel room smelled a little musty but clean, the friendliest staff and great location in Holetown.

Room Tip: Heigher room for view

Arrived to see a perfect sunset over the sea from our balcony. The hotel has a decent pool but we never saw anyone in it as the beach is so close and the sea so inviting that the pool seemed a poor second best. The sun loungers on the beach are free for guests (ask for a token and a towel at reception). If you like snorkelling glass bottom boats pick you up from the beach but you can also walk to Beachlands and swim out to the wreck and the reef from there.
The restaurants are close by and supermarket is just across the road (as is the bus stop to Bridgetown)

Room Tip: All have sea views but second floor rooms have unrestricted views

Just to avoid confusion this resort was formerly the Tropical Sunswept, Airport Taxi drivers etc know the place well but not as the new name yet, so ask for Sunswept if you get a taxi at the airport!.
lets be honest there is no such thing as a 'cheap' holiday to Barbados, but the Tropical Sunset is certainly one of the cheapest beachfront locations you will find.
We had read that it is a two star resort in a five star location so we did not have high expectations, but I am pleased to report that we had a fantastic time and the Tropical Sunset was a great choice for us. As with many places in Barbados the rooms and buildings are fairly old and show their age, but the place was spotlessly clean with excellent maid service, fresh towels and weekly linen change. The kitchen area is small but adequate for preparing breakfast and snacks and the icy cold fridge was large so perfect for holding our stock of Malibu and Banks Beer!
The spacious Balcony gives a postcard view of the sea and sunsets and is a great place to sit for Breakfast.
The swimming pool area was also spotlessly clean with plenty of loungers and chairs, It connects directly to the Zacchios bar and grill which is very handy, particularly around sunset when everyone gathers for a sundowner cocktail.
The beach is quite narrow but we are told that the whole West coast has suffered from sand erosion, There was plenty of room for us and the beach loungers are free for residents, just ask for tokens at reception.
In response to the previous reviewers comments about beach traders, like most places there are lots of them but we found every single one of them to be polite friendly and funny, particularly Champagne Charley! A simple no thank you and they would leave you alone. The sea is lovely and warm and on some days clear enough to snorkel straight from the beach, with lots of marine life just a few yards off shore. I have spent more time in the sea than on every holiday i've ever had in the past so that speaks for itself LOL.
We felt that the apartments have one of the best locations in Holetown, with shopping and a supermarket just across the road, and various bars and restaurants within a few hundred yards. there is a bank and bus stop right outside too.
We were also fortunate enough to meet with some wonderful people who really made our holiday special, Alan & Judy, Baz & Nic, thanks for the laughs!
Finally we must mention the staff, friendly and very very helpful, Organising restaurant reservations, car hire etc, They even offered to do our flight on line check in and let us keep our room till 5pm on departure day, which meant an extra day on the beach, so thank you very much to all the staff.
While there we had the chance to look around the very posh Royal Westmorland golf estate and holiday homes which were stunning, but we realised that given the choice we would prefer the Tropical Sunset for its location and warm welcome.
We hope to return in the future and would certainly stay there again, If you have any questions please ask
Ste & Nic
