I transferred to this hotel after being wrongly placed by Virgin UK,

I was travelling alone with my 4yr old daughter who was being a bridesmaid at a friends wedding.

The hotel is relatively basic but was totally amazing. It is right on the beach with water sports next door, there is a pool, shops, bars and restaurants on the door step. It also has a self contained kitchen.

What made it so special for us was the care and kindness shown to us by the staff - in particular STACEY BEDFORD and her boss. I have never known anything like it. Catch it soon before they end up running Sandy Lane!

We have just returned from our 10th visit to Barbados...having stayed at the all-inclusives on the island, we decided to try something different and used the Sunswept as a base for checking out future villa rentals..Sunswept has a wonderful and dedicated staff that were very helpful throughout our stay..It is a very clean hotel with tidy grounds and a lovely clean and maintained pool..we travelled with a 16 and a 7 year old and they were very very satisfied with the pool and the beach in front( the beach has returned and we walked and walked on it..)

It should be noted that the New York Times featured this hotel regarding an affordable place to stay and it certainly is..we must note that every room has a $1000/night view with a balcony(we do recommend rooms above the ground floor for privacy and view)

The hotel seems a bit tired looking from the beach side as it is going under some renovation. It is now the sister hotel of Mango Bay (just a few steps to the north on the beach) and the positive influence is quite clear in the bathroom and kitchenette which was new and clean.

Having a kitchenette was wonderful for a family ..going out all the time loses its luster and it was great to have breakfasts in the room and the odd meal after soaking up the sun..
This hotel cannot be better located. It is central to Holetown with a Mall across the street with a grocery store that has every amentity possible, close to a medical clinic and right on the bus route.

Right beside the hotel is the famed Cocomos restaurant/bar and it offers a fabulous spot to sit and watch the sunset..timed perfectly with happy hour.

It should also be noted that on the beach, there is quite a bit of solicitation for use of jetskis/glass bottom boat use etc.."No thanks" seems to work ,

The West Coast of Barbados is absolutely beautiful and is still affordable thanks to little gems like Sunswept. It is an exciting and vibrant part of the island..the ultimate is what we did ...and that was to rent a vehicle(Stoute's) and check it all out.

My advise is get a good airfair and deal direct with Janice and her very professional staff.

I have spent some time in the Sunswept and it is ok, ok it is not the Sandy Lane. But the price you pay is not a lot and we all know you get what you pay for. The rooms are basic with a small kitchen area and all face the sea. There is a small pool and as of Dec 2007 the beach is also back so you can walk from the pool on to the beach.

There is a bar next door (Cocomos) that only stay open until about 11pm and is never that busy later in the night, plus it is not that noisy. You are located in the heart of Holetown and the shop are just behind the hotel.

Good hotel for the price and great location that would cost a lot more in all other hotels.

Stayed at Sunswept for 2 weeks at the beginning of September. The place itself is a little tired and could do with some work, especially the bathrooms and the furniture. The kichenette is pretty good and has all the facilities you would really want. The rooms are quite specious and all electrical appliances worked. There is air con and a ceiling fan in all rooms and the staff are fantastic, really friendly. The pool, although small was always clean and there was always a security guard patrolling the grounds.

The biggest problem (not the hotels fault) the beach outside the hotel has totally disappeared. You can find one a little further up the coast, around 5-10min walk, but then you do not have any sun beds or anywhere to get a drink from etc.

I would suggest hiring a car to find the better beaches around the island, the locals think the beach will return, and in some trip reports they say is has. Believe me...there is no beach so be warned!

Cocomos is a beach bar right next to the hotel. It is good here for food and a drink, but again, there is no beach so don't let the photo's you find in the tourist books deceive you!

We were disappointed with this hotel after reading so many positive reviews. What didnt we like? Well firstly we expected a fine beach after looking at the promo. photo.'s. Sadly the beach disappeared two years ago and more recent erosion means that there is no beach at all at the back of the hotel , only rocks. Our second disappointment was the continual noise from the adjacent lively bar and resturant (its very close, aprox. 2m from the hotel) on one side, a public car park on the other, and a second public car park at the front. This hotel describes itself as a "haven", but is in fact noisy and cramped.

The rooms were OK, but nothing special. All in all I'd compare this hotel to a backpackers hostel. You dont pay a lot and shouldnt therefore expect a lot from it.

Just come back from 2 weeks at the Sunswept Hotel.

The location of this hotel is ideally placed right in the heart of Holetown close to all the local amenties. Rooms are basic but clean and every one offers a sea view. This hotel really is execellent value for money and the West coast is certainly the place to be in Barbados.

There are several good restaurants, close to the Hotel be sure to try Ragamuffins and the Mews. The Restaurant next door also does good food and drink.

We hired a car and saw the whole Island during our stay.

I would Recommend Sunswept hotel to anyone, staff are friendly and helpful and you really can't beat it for the price.

This small apartment hotel has the best location in Holetown. Everything you need is within a short walking distance - Banks, Supermarket, Mall, Bustop, Petrol Station, Post Office, Police Station, Bakery, Gym, as well as the Beach (a few meters) and numerous Resturants/Bars. The accomodation is basic (UK 2 star), so do not expect the Ritz. However, this hotel is great for families with young children, as they can be supervised very easily around the swimming pool area (families with young children are usually given a ground floor room). Also, the swimming pool is small and not very deep (4.6ft at it's deepest). I have to agree with the last reviewer about the coral/debrie on the beach/ocean floor. You have to be careful where you tread or you could cut yourself.

With regards to the beach guys, they are harmless and friendly enough, if you take time out to get to know them. They are only trying to make a living and will not bother you again if you say no. The West Coast of Barbados is the place to be and overall you will not get a better location than this for the money they charge.
