We booked the appartment for 10 days and in general our experience was positive. It is a clean, bright, quiet appartment set in lovely grounds which includes a swimming pool and pool side Chineese restaurant. It is a 10 /15 minute walk to the local Supercentre for all groceries. It is also less than a 10 minute walk to the bus stop and the dive centre.
However, when we arrived the air-conditioning didn't work. The appartment has a housekeep that can be contacted by phone (at your cost) and the complex has a "handyman" - so it got sorted. The air conditioning unit is located in the bedroom and is not powerful enough to cool the appartment. You have to feed it with dollar coins and it is very very noisey i.e. there is no way you can sleep with it running!
There was no washing up liquid or cleaning agent to wipe the sink or surroundings. There was only 1 toilet roll. When I rang the housekeeper to request the above I was told the maid would be there on Thursday which was 3 days away. Clearly this was not acceptable and 1 toilet roll was promptly arrived while we were out. However we were informed that the owners did not supply washing up liquid or clearning material. I spoke to the owner and was told it was self catering and I should have brought my own!
Barbados is very expensive (£5 for a box of cereal) so beware - bring your own or stay somewhere that offers basic kitchen consumables such as kitchen paper, foil, salt and pepper etc., We have stayed in numerous appartments world wide where the owners pride themselves og going that little bit further to ensure you have a great stay. These extras mean to dont have to buy a litre of salad dressing to make a salad or seasoning to make a pasta dish. They make the stay memorable and mean you would recommend it to friends without any hesitation.
There are many appartments on the island and although the appartment has many positive features there are just one too many "buts".
