Mango Bay All Inclusive

We stayed at Mango Bay for our Honeymoon (21/06 - 05/07) and absolutely loved it. The staff are so friendly, especially Chelton, Rondel and Andre behind the bar (Chellys cocktails are the stuff of legends - especially the ones not on the menu).
I am amazed how some people have given this place such bad reviews (Codycall stayed at the same time as us!!!)
I know that peoples expectations differ but, before you say that I must only ever have stayed in bad hotels before, I have stayed in 3 to 5 star all over the world so I know the difference between a poor hotel and a good one. This was most definitely the latter. The food was incredible, the best I have ever had in an all inclusive, a la carte was much nicer than the usual buffet night after night.
The beach is not huge but is adequate for the size of the hotel and the pool area is lovely.
There is also that added bonus of various wildlife including Carib Grackles, Barbados Bullfinches, Bananaquits, Green monkeys, Egrets, Mongooses and Lizards frequenting the premises. Just don't leave any food lying around as the Carib Grackles are speedy thieves!!
Another great aspect of this hotel are the free trips and waterskiing. There is a catamaran cruise and a glass bottom boat trip and also the water skiing which is totally free (we went every day toward the end of the holiday and ended up quite good after a few days).
One negative point only - I would strongly advise that you book a superior room for your stay though unless you are a very heavy sleeper!! We had the first two nights in a standard room and the bars weren't too bad at the weekend as they didn't close that late, but we were woken up at about 2-3am by dogs barking both nights (the 2nd night it went on for an hour).
All in all this was the perfect honeymoon and I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

We were married there about a month ago and I am still basking in great memories.

Our close family came with us, so we had a total of 14 people in our group. From the moment we arrived, we knew we had made the right choice for our wedding. My (now) husband and I were upgraded to the penthouse suite and we all went in to look at it! It was amazing...not sure if it would be worth the money if we hadn't gotten the upgrade, but it was the nicest room we have ever stayed in. We saw my parents' oceanview room and my sister's standard room. Both were very nice, but they didn't compare to the penthouse! My parents' A/C was broken the first night, but they couldn't get it fixed (we only realized it at 10 PM, so there was no maintenance on site) until the next day. That was honestly the only problem we had in the whole stay!
Food was great! Drinks were amazing! The staff was always pleasant and accommodating to our large party.
The wedding was everything I had hoped it would be. The arch was decorated adequately, cake was great, my bouquet was beautiful with real orchids in it. We had bought some champagne duty-free at the airport and had that after the ceremony. The photographer was able to burn us a CD of all the wedding photos so that we had it before we left the next day for our honeymoon.
Everyone in our party commented how great the place was and what a wonderful time that they had! Please feel free to email me for more info or more pictures!

firstly this is our 3rd time to Barbados and can't wait for the 4th. We booked on the internet through JETSET2 holidays to which I'd like to thank Kate who informed us of all our details and was very helpful.
It was our first stay at Mango Bay,which is situated in what I would say the best position on the island , everything is at hand. We couldn't fault the HOTEL, nor could we fault the STAFF, everyone was so friendly and looked after you very well. MICHAEL is a gentle giant and would always have alittle joke with you too, hes a topman !The FOOD was excelllent and I have never said this before. The catamaran, glass bottom boat and more was allinclusive, and again the staff looked after you very well on the trips.
The rooms are very spacious with a kettle to make tea/coffee, which is stocked up daily. Big comfortable beds, flat screen TV, even bath robes. Everything is kept very clean with towels changed daily and beach towels changed every evening with the service to turn down your beds ready for the evening, along with little chocolates on your pillows .... how sweet !
The pool is lovely, again kept imaculate, towels are laid out for you on the sunbeds weather permitting. No problems getting a bed round the pool.
The beach isn't the biggest we've seen but never a problem getting a bed there too.
The creek that runs down the side of the hotel IS NOT A PROBLEM, infact it was nice to sit and watch the wildlife in and around it !
Even though we weren't hungry the afternoon tea was a delight with freshly made sandwiches , the scones and cakes were finger licking good too !
(Barbeque night was fantastic food )
Entertainment was especially good on sunday and friday nights , some of the singers would even make Simon Cowel smile !!!!
Staff as I said were fantastic, our friends got married whilst we were there, and they did everything poss to make all went well, the hotel manageress shireen was excellent at her job always making sure everyone was happy and having a good time.
Barbados is a beautiful island , so get a car and tour round and see the sights that do take your breath away ..... the people are truly an amazing friendly kind.
I WOULDN'T HESITATE GOING BACK TO THIS HOTEL NOT FOR ONE MINUTE !

On the whole Mango Bay is a good hotel (not quite as glossy as the website photos though), we stayed in an ocean front room on the third floor and the room was clean and tidy with a comfortable large bed, TV, refrigerator etc. My only criticism regarding the rooms was they were cleaned very late in the day at around 4pm. This was our first and perhaps last stay at an all inclusive, the buffet style breakfast with the piles of steaming eggs, bacon, sausage and what have you was interesting to say the least. Lunch and dinner however were far different and served like a restaurant with a good menu choice and portion size and adequate wine (considering how expensive it is in Barbados). The quality of the waitresses was overall very good, I did not like however being ignored by the matradee when waiting to be seated who I must add was the only member of staff with a bad attitude. So a little more attention to guests waiting to be seated would really increase the experience. The bar staff however are very good in contrast to the matradee and made us feel very welcome, although some of the spirits were not up to scratch but I guess this should be expected for an all inclusive. The quality of the watersports on offer was very good and the staff was very helpful. Do however watch out for the beach vendors constantly trying to get you to buy jet ski rides, jewellery, shells, massages as its very irritating when all you want to do is relax with your girlfriend. I would recommend taking a walk up the beach (which is stunning) to the ocean marine park and snorkelling on the reef, or perhaps walking up a little further and going for a swim on the deserted beaches where the winter mansions are. Overall I would recommend Mango Bay as being a good base camp to use for dinner and lunch and somewhere to sleep while you go out and explore the real Barbados.

This is our 7th visit to the Mango Bay and we were not disappointed. The hotel is directly on the beach and although the beach is small, you can always find a spot to sunbathe. The staff here are fantastic and Shireen (hotel manager) does a superb job. The food is excellent and the portions of food are enough for the biggest appetite. The restaurant overlooks the sea and what could be nicer than listening, while dining, to music from a live band or solo artist and the gentle sound of the waves on the sand. The bar staff are efficient and you never wait to be served from a huge selection of cocktails and premium drinks. We had a sea front room and it was lovely to wake up in the morning and look straight out to the beach. We did actually see a turtle laying her eggs on the beach very late one evening and the conservation people allowed the 4 of us to stay and watch her - that was a truly memorable event!

You truly cannot beat this hotel for friendly staff and excellent food and service. We would visit more than once a year if we could!!!

Having stayed at some of the best hotels in the world, we were slightly apprehensive about what to expect at the Mango Bay, however our expectations were blown away by the friendly welcome and fantastic cuisine.

People have previously said that the portions were small, and yes this is true, however I would say they were the perfect size. When its 31 degrees you don't want a giant plate of food presented to you. The quality and taste of the food was incredible, and out-does some 5* restaurants. And having planned to eat at the Sandy Lane on a number of evenings, we decided to stay and eat at the hotel every lunch and dinner. There was a choice of 3 starters, 3 mains and 3 deserts, and even a fussy eater like myself didn't have a slightest problem, as there were happy to bring me a green salad as a starter one the one occasion I didn't fancy anything from the menu. And it was the freshest salad i've ever had.

The weather wasn't bad, out of 2 weeks we only had 2 days when it rained all day. However for the rest of the time it would be hot and sunny, then rain for about 30 seconds - 2 minutes without even being cloudy, and then be hot and sunny again. The cocktail menu is great, and the barmen are very friendly. Waterskiing and wakeboarding is available free all-day and they are great with beginners wanting to give it a try.

The hotel is about 2 minutes walk from Holetown, which has a small mall, supermarket, jewellers, 2 banks, petrol station and pharmacy.

I would certainly reccomend the Island Safari while you are there, it allows you to see the entire island in a day, and the driver we had was fantastic.

I will definately be returning to the Mango Bay in a couple of years or so and would recommend it to anyone.

Rather than repeat what has been in previous posts I would just emphasise that (apart from the odd strange review from people who don't seem to want to have a good holiday) if you read the bulk of reviews on here you will know exactly what to expect here..and you'll get it! Yes, it's a small hotel so just has one restaurant (in a way that's it's charm...the quality & variety at the restaurant was fantastic) we usually holiday at Sandals and like the variety of different restaurants over a two week break but the clever menus & wonderful service never left us feeling we enjoyed anything apart from a top quality meal at breakfast, lunch or dinner. Yes, there is only one pool (although a good size) but there was never a problem getting sunbeds (there was also a decking area overlooking the beach) or the admittedly small beach itself...best of all you can walk down long, almost deserted beaches (especially northwards.....south to Sandy Lane needs a detour along the road due to building works that look they will take a long time!) stopping at a local beach bar for a cheap break from the all inclusiveness of the hotel. By the way, as part of the all inclusive deal the hotel lays on a catamaran trip to snorkel with turtles & cruise the west coast...well worth it. The location of the hotel also means you can easily get to local shops & restaurants if you wanted. The hotel really do listen...the manageress (Shireen) does walk round the pool each day, checking everyone's happy...& they are! on the back of the reviews about noise from the street affecting outside rooms we paid for an upgrade to a pool view room...what a great decision (ok we got a lucky break but our ground floor room opened out onto the pool...effectively giving us a private poolside patio) i daren't guess how much we'd pay for such a room at a Sandals!-but as i say that was a lucky break. Finally, during our last few days a large number of shy, young school age girls arrived. Shireen took the time at the managers cocktail party to explain these were from a local school on several months work placement...hopefully to build skills offering them a future career choice....fantastic releaxing days, wonderful leisurely meals with a never empty glass knowing the hotel has an active social concience supporting the local community, no wonder we slept well every night!
