“Amazing! Will be back next year!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 11, 2013

Couldn't say a bad word about this hotel. Other reviews mention the works on the beach but it was the other end and didn't effect the holiday one bit! Rooms had everything you could need and were thoroughly cleaned daily with fresh bath and beach towels. All staff were extremely friendly and couldn't do enough for you. Good was quite good considering I am extremely fussy! They were happy to adapt meals for me. The staff make the hotel even more special. Location was great as opposite a large shopping centre, and close to petrol station. Didn't need to go far for anything. The one love bar opposite looks nothing special from the outside, but hosted a brilliant karaoke/mini street party which a lot of the locals got involved with and made us all feel very welcome. A must do on a Sunday eve. Will Defiantly be booking up at mango bay next year!

We have just returned from 2 weeks at the Mango Bay where both my partner and I celebrated our 50th Birthdays. As most other reviewers have said, the staff are so welcoming and polite. From the moment we arrived and were handed our Rum Punch to the moment we left with hugs from the staff we felt that nothing was too much trouble. There were lots of small touches that made you feel special.

We had been advised by our tour operator about the beach works and, hey, its not the hotels fault. Living near the coast we understand the need for the work to be done to protect the island. As our room was near the pool we didn't really use the beach so the works were not an issue. Some days they had an audience and no one seemed to have that much of an issue.

I can't understand that anyone can have any moans about the food. It was very good at both lunch and dinner and the breakfast were sufficient for our needs. We don't usually have a large breakfast, so cereal, toast, juices, fruit and cooked was more than enough to satisfy us. The chef will try and accomodate any requests you may have. We asked for a couple of specific meals and sure enough, this was made specially for us. Ok, service was a tad slow on a couple of occasions but i'm on holiday, why rush. We got an apology so whats the problem.
You do have to book for lunch and dinner and to get the popular times you need to book early. On the odd occasion where we couldn't get the time we wanted it ended up only being 15 minutes earlier or later. Not exactly a major issue. I think too many people are so regimented and set in their ways that they can't change, not even on holiday.
On my birthday I had booked an island trip through Virgin. We waited at reception 10 minutes before the pick up time and then proceeded to wait for another 1 1/2 hours. To cut a long story short, Mandy at the hotel organised a trip for us where we were taken on our own by private taxi. The hotel didn't have to do this as it was not there error but this again showed how they went out of their way for their guests. On your birthday, the hotel put banners in your room and balloons and dcorations on your dinner table. Just another little touch to make the day. On my partners birthday we sat with another couple we had met where the chap was also celebrating his 50th. The hotel gave us a bottle of sparkling wine with our meal.

All the bar staff, without exception, were brilliant. They were all so friendly and happy to give you information about the island. Had far to much to drink over the 2 weeks but the cocktails were difficult to turn down. Even the wine wasn't bad.

I could go on and on about all the others things that made this holiday special. We have been to many places around the world and stayed is some great places and although the hotel could perhaps do with a refresh in places, I would say that this is one of the best holidays we have had and we are pretty fussy and do a lot of research be

The hotel, the island and the Bajans have made us want to go back. Don't be put off by the 'whingers' go for it

Room Tip: If you can afford upgrade to a Deluxe room.

This is my first review and I am going to keep it short and sweet.

From the moment we arrived at Mango Bay on the 23rd November to our departure date 2 weeks later, the staff looked after myself and my fiancee in the most amazing fashion.

The hotel was charming, the perfect size and despite being a All-Inc they presented you with a menu to order from at almost every meal (expect for the mazing BBQ on Friday, try the chicken and have extra BBQ sauce!). This really brought some cermeony to the whole dining experience rather than just queueing for a buffet.

We paid the extra money and got an ocean front room which in my mind is worth every penny.

The view every morning and the sound of the waves lapping at the beach was something I will never forget.

The staff, they were all brilliant, but those who deserve a special mention include: Leanne, Mandy, Tanya, Rondel & Dennis, Kerman, Roger, Peter, Petra and Maureen.

When my other half did not feel well one lunch time and had to lie down, I was alone in the restaurant and at least 5 members of staff asked if she was okay and if she needed anything, amazing service!

We did lots of sailing and some wakeboarding, spent lots of time by the pool and a litle by the beach.

We ventured out to Holetown and also took in The Cliff, Sandy Lane Sunday Bruch and the Fish Pot. We cancelled the others as we were so happy and content just chilling at MB.

We did also check out some other hotels up the coast and were just not really impressed, they might look a little nicer, but do you want to be spending $150 for lunch for two when you are only going to eat half of it and end up resenting where you stay becuase everything is a bolt on cost.

Our final bill was $15 dollars, just a couple of phonecalls. Put me a such a good mood on the way to the airport.

If in doubt, book. You will not regret it and we are going back for our honeymoon next year.

Room Tip: Oceanview is a must, don't fly all that way and not have an amzing view in the morning!

This was the first time we had been to Barbados even though we have travelled worldwide. Someone had said "you are leaving the best till last" and we were not disappointed. The hotel was one of the friendliest hotels I have ever visited. They made us all feel welcome from the moment we arrived to the day we departed. With it being a small hotel of just 76 rooms we met lots of new friends. Everyone that we spoke to was of the same opinion. All our meals were of a very high standard and one of our friends is on a gluten free diet and she had a wonderful variety of food to enjoy. The location is beautiful and there are plenty of activities to keep you occupied. If you want to get away for a couple of hours just take a walk along the white sandy beach and you will find plenty of deserted beaches/coves. Already looking to book next year for my special birthday. Can't wait to get back.

Room Tip: If you can get an Ocean Front then its well worth it.

We spent 4 very relaxing nights in Mango Bay, we found the staff to be very friendly and couldn't do enough for us. We upgraded to a sea view room which in hindsight may have been pointless as we spent very little time in the room but it was nice to hear the waves last thing at night and first thing in the morning.
Our room was on the 1st floor, modern and well furnished with a balcony and very comfortable king bed and pillows, sleeping in the bed was bliss. The decor in the bathroom could do with updating.
Evening entertainment was a bit hit and miss, one night was an excellent female singer who serenaded us with classic and modern music from all genres while on a different night we had an acapella singer who was almost painful to listen to at times.
The one let down was the food, breakfast was adequate with a choice of fruit, pastries etc as well as an egg making station.
The choice off food on offer for launch and dinner were not exciting, the oriental themed buffet for example left a lot to be desired, the flavours weren't particularly oriental and some of the dishes were inedible. We specially requested local dishes from the third night onwards which the chef was kind enough to oblige us with, all of which were well executed and tasty.
There are also a number of restaurants within walking distance which were recommended by other guests.

I'm sorry to say this hotel didn't live up to expectations. It really needs a face-lift. The furniture in the rooms is scruffy, there is a lack of maintenance around the property which lets it down. I was told they are busy 'getting the hotel ready for Christmas", what about us pre-Christmas guests? Don't we deserve the same standard?

The food was ok, not great as some reviews would suggest. It's true that some of the staff are truly delightful, warm, friendly and trying to make your holiday special. Unfortunately not all staff achieve these high standards of hospitality. Some were plain rude, avoiding eye contact, talking and laughing with their colleagues while treating us, the customers, as if we were a bit of a nuisance. This was a really special holiday for us, and that aspect was very disappointing.

The beach is poor, what with the pumping station build next door, the derelict buildings in the other direction, it's not the best. We weren't offered the trip to the other beach until the night before we left-bit late for us.

Persuaded husband to return to Barbados after a bad first experience and I am afraid he was right.

We choose Mango Bay - wrong. Lovely sea view room at front although floor dirty and water not replenished in fridge. Beach very poor. Food poor, catering for very traditional Brit tastes - sprouts! BBQ good. Suggest more buffets. Breakfast poor/repetitive. Staff lovely. Entertainment awful. Very loud buddy Brits and early morning towels on beach beds. Reminded us so much of the old Colonial days.

Altogether very expensive and we should have gone to Sandals on other islands where food and service is 5* and more.

Island lovely, although so much more could be made of the coast - very dilapidated. Sandals or Virgin should take the opportunity of developing. Real shame about the nearby villages, north coast and east coast - so run down.

British Airways also need to restart their connecting flights from Manchester to Gatwick. Heard lots of complaints about this.
