Staid here for Xmas and new year and had a ball don't want to bore you with all the comments others have left because there all basically the same.If you don't drink do not get a room in the apartment block to the left of reception rooms 405 to 395 your next to Lexys bar with a live singer and it goes on till the last person leaves the pub,you would really think they were playing in your room it's that noisy. On a Sunday the bar on street one does karaoke and puts the big massive speakers on the street if you don't go to the party it's a waste of time going to bed you won't sleep. The hotel is good but I was going to book for next Xmas and new year and was shocked to see the prices have jumped £2000 it's a nice hotel but it ain't as good as the price reflects.I think there trying to run before they can walk and are going to find a lot of empty rooms next year. All the staff are very courteous and helpfull. If you need to change money at reception make sure you have dollars and not Sterling they give you double the Barbados dollar for US dollars but Sterling they only give you 2.40 BDS for a pound so if your changing £100 you get 240 BDS and if you change 157 dollars you get 314 BDS a big drop .All in all I would go back because its in a great location.

We stayed at Mango Bay over christmas and new year and had a wonderful time, the majority of the staff are really happy and helpful, the few issues we had were dealt with really quickly, food & drinks great, downside - the beach beds and the guest that reserve them at 1st light, so if you dont get up at dawn to get a bed on the beach you can forget having one for the rest of the day. Overall a lovely hotel, which was really clean, good fod and lovely staff with great cocktails

Well I have visited a lot of hotels and I just loved it here, right near the lovley limegrove shopping with a nice bar, then 1st & 2nd street with bars, restaurants. The food in mango bay was excellent and as for the NYE buffet well that was amazing. My husband is so fussy and he loved it. The manager and all the staff are the biggest asset to this hotel I felt right at home on the 2nd day. I am going back as it was in a excellent location and sooooo welcoming.

Just returned from a 10 night stay over new years 2012/2013. Its very hard to write a constructive review that wont upset regular guests but in the same vein will enlighten future visitors to the hotel.

I suppose the best poicy is honesty, so here we go!

On arrivlal we were welcomed at the hotel and shown to our large basic room (418), conveniently located on the ground floor by the goods vehicle/staff entrance. Next to our room was a closed down hair salon that belongs to the Hotel. The room was clean and bright, however slightly oddly the housekeeper had left a de-humidifier in there... we thought nothing of this and it was removed later that day.

The double bed was located directly underneath the air conditioning unit, which meant that you were could enjoy the rumble of the machine all night coupled with the benefits of being freezing cold and blown about by the breeze. Alternatively you could switch it off and sweat. After three nights we requested that the bed be moved, which was done, but alas it didnt cure the issue. Other than the air con there was no air circulation and it soon became apparent why the dehumidifier was in the room previously. All of our clothes started to become damp and the room gained a damp smell about it. By day five i had a chest infection and spent 2 hours at the doctors on a ventiliation machine to help my breathing. My wife even found that some tea bags we had left in the room had started to soak up the damp ... so god only knows what was in my lungs.

The food was very average and to be honest, given how ill i had became i really didint feel like eating too much anyhow. We did eat in the room one night ... the plates were left outside for over 12 hours. The drinks from the bar were weak to say the least and we were tipped off to ask for 'gordons' rather than 'a gin'. Either way nothing tasted like it does back in the UK.

By day 7 we had spent over $2000 on eating out and my health was not improving so we decided to move out of the hotel completely and attempted to salvage the holiday by staying at Sandy Lane for the balance. In a different league of course .... but we shouldnt have had to do this to just get a decent nights sleep, our clothes dry and my health better.

Getting Sun beds - be there 6.45- 7am for the beach or go without, pool side limited and not overly inviting area due to shade and close proximity of rooms. Gym small and very limited selection of equipment.

Mango Bay was a very friendly hotel and there were lots of lovely guests we met ... but i'm afraid this is the only positive i can add.

Booked this through Thomson stay n cruise this being 2nd week of holiday greeted by very helpfully receptionist Hermonie though we were package deal we were treated us as if we were millionaires and there's plenty of very rich guests, indeed the reception areas are out of magazine, shown to our room which was a block separated from the main. The room was quite large but in good decorative order with loads of little extras. I came to understand these rooms are not up to the standard of the main block but at end of the day you only sleep there. The outside areas are absolutely fabulous, you eat in outside restaurant right beside the beach the views are to die for. Lunch and evening meal are waiter service. The food is excellent with something for everyone and if you let them know you don't like what is on menus they will try and cater for you. Portions are not big but after three courses we were always full the drink is plenty full. In with the price the hotel does complementary trips catamaran trips to swim with turtles which was magical and many more. We arrived for New Years Eve and boy this hotel gets to town. They set the scene with gazebos lights decorations tables set with linen and set pieces, lobster, champagne a three piece girl band that put any X factor contestants to shame and the biggest firework display even Sandy Lane which is next door couldn't compete!! The weather was gorgeous but yes it did rain everyday but for a few short minutes and ground was dry in minutes also. The beach is narrow but absolutely idilc warm seas and pure white sand. We were there for NYE and felt completely relaxed and involved with the many old timers who have been holidaying there regular for many years they come from around the globe mostly UK and all know each other and all hope to see each other again next Christmas (a few celebrity's stay here as well). There is quite a lively noisy street scene late at night from the few bars outside the hotel this can be disturbing but we joined them all the locals singing and partying, this is only a few nights a week. We were lucky with our room in our block though I do believe the ground floor rooms had problems but please let the staff know they are so helpful also this block does not have a lift though the main block does but I believe that block is more expensive. Apart from this you are treated as good as anyone else. I would like to go back to Mango Bay but Barbados at this time of year is incredibly expensive this hotel is as close to perfect as you can get the staff are the most helpful, kindest and pleasant I've ever come across. Even the owners greet you like family, it's not the best hotel for children but for friends or couples perfect. Having been busy on the cruise the first week we didn't venture far but Holetown is busy with designer shops in a vey swish shopping mall along the road. So go and enjoy a piece of paradise I'm glad I did

Room Tip: Upgrade to main block

Stayed at Mango Bay over the Christmas and New Year period and after our rum punch and cold towels we were shown to our standard room. The room was clean but dated and overlooked the street. Initially the room seemed fine however, after a downpour we returned to our room to find two leaks coming from the ceiling. We were quickly moved from our standard room to an ocean view room, it was like staying in a different hotel! The room was much brighter and more spacious. Unfortunately, the hotel could only guarantee that room for a few days and said we would need to move again. During our holiday we were getting married however, not in the hotel, but the hotel were aware of this. So to our surprise, one of the duty managers approached us a few days later to apologise once again for our first room and offered us the penthouse suit with plunge pool and jacuzzi overlooking the sea. The staff at this hotel could not do enought for us during the holiday.

I also, thought the food at Mango Bay was really good. The menu varied every day and didn't feel repetitive at all. We did eat out quite a bit and missed the buffet nights however, after speaking to other guests they seemed to enjoy it.

This boutique hotel offers everything for a great hotel - excellent location, excellent staff and I have to say I've never stayed in a hotel were all the guests know each other so well and are so friendly. I would definitely return to this hotel.

Just returned with my family from 11 nights at Mango Bay, stayed over Xmas and new year. Having read other reviews on the hotel I can relate to many of the points made, good and not quite so good. First the good points, great beachside location, amazing staff, super manager in Shereene , very well run hotel with staff that want you to have a good time, nothing seems too much trouble.

You get free trips on the catermaran , swim with turtles (fantastic), glass bottom boat trips, free water ski-ing, kayaks etc... The food is good, without being great, albeit the new years eve grand banquet was very, very good. We never had a problem with food selection, my son is vegetarian and there was always options. If you wanted something not on the menu, just had to speak with Marcia, the restuarant manager (also great) and they would look to oblige. It is true however that food choice is not as wide as larger hotels, you don't have different themed restuarants to pick from etc, this may deter some clients.

We stayed in standard rooms at the front of the hotel, had a view over the pool and a sea view, which was a pleasant surprise. Two comments regarding these rooms, the standard rooms are fairly basic and somewhat dated, I would strongly suggest upgrading. My constructive comment to the hotel management would be to improve these rooms, they do not compare well to other so called standard rooms at a similar class of hotel. My other comment on the standard rooms is noise at night from the lively bars in the street below, not a problem if you intend to be out partying yourself into the early hours, but if not.......?

The hotel has a lot of repeat customers ( always a good sign) , however the comment from another review ( middle aged drinkers, propping up the bar all day) I can relate to, albeit everyone very friendly and just enjoying their holiday.

The pool is fine, not a massive amount of space for sun beds, so I'm afraid if you want a sun bed in a decent position, you had to play the "towell game" and bag your sunbed early in the morning, or they were gone. This disappoints me and is something the hotel could soon stop by taking a zero tolerance approach to this behaviour and removing towels etc..., but it seemed to be accepted. With the beach being so shallow, only 12 foot of sand , again same issue with sun beds.

Summing up, we all had a great holiday, this hotel is friendly and has a more intimate feel than larger chains we have stayed in previously. If you like big modern hotels, 4 star plus, lots of food choice at different restuarants etc.., this may not be your ideal choice. If you are looking for a relaxing holiday on the west coast of Barbados, nice people, good location, great service, good entertainment in the evenings, Mango Bay would take some beating.

The best endorsement I can give you, is we intend to return!

Thank you Shereene and team for a lovely holiday, we will certainly be back.
