We always look forward to returning to this lovely little hotel. Again we were not disapponted, and as always we were made very welcome.
The weather was nigh on perfect with only a few showers, with amazingly few Mozzies, the sand had come back and the sea was calm alllowing us to enjoy the Catermaran, Hobicat & Pedaloes. The Hobicat was particularly enjoyable as our "Captain" took time to explain about the beaches and houses & hotels as we passed them.
It is very tempting to just chill out whilst at Mango Bay and you have to be very strong to resist the temptation of the sunbeds whilst being waited on by Peter & Donald from the bar with offers of the many various drinks & cocktails served from 10am onwards.
There is an excellent breakfast choice to suit all tastes to be found in the restaurant, followed by lunch, then afternoon tea and even more food for dinner. In the event of not finding your liking on the menu Chef will prepare an alternative - so there is absolutely no chance of leaving the hotel the same weight that you arrived.
The bedrooms are cool and very clean, nice comfy beds, plenty of pillows, you can even have your sheets changed on a daily basis if you wish., fresh towels and beach towels arrive each evening. The rooms are equipped with a kettle and coffe & tea which is replaced daily, there is an iron & ironing board, a clothes airer and a safe. An excellent hair drier is in the drawer and bathrobes in the bathroom. There is also a flat screen TV which could be a little erratic channel wise.
Barbados is a very diverse island and definitely worth a tour, the East Coast is stunning and we would urge you to venture out. Holetown is on the doorstep with shops, supermarket & post office all near at hand.
There are various restaurants right outside the hotel, also Lexi's Piano Bar, Ragamuffins which serves food and also hosts the Manequins in Motion Drag Show on Sunday Nights (Not to be missed - book on line well in advance), also the One Love Karioke Bar is in full flow for the weekend street party. (This can be very loud)
The hotel has entertainment each night which is most enjoyable but can be rather loud ( as is all music in the Caribbean). There are free trips on the Stilletto Catermaran to swim with the turtles (and you do) and a glass bottom boat.
There is a Spa at the hotel which does the best manicure ever, more lovely staff here.
The Management & Staff are fantastic, and you are expected to advise of any problems which are sorted immediately.
Thank you everyone for making our holiday so enjoyable .
PS: Shireene, the room key is in the post!!!

We were booked into the Almond Beach Village resort where we have stayed over a number of years. We were moved to Mango Bay shortly before our departure and we have to admit were a little apprehensive about our holiday, as the hotel is smaller with only 1 restaurant. We had a fantastic time at this lovely hotel with staff that are second to none. The hotel is clean and bright, the food is plentiful and varied and extremely tasty. The days lunch and dinner menus were posted each morning so If you didn't see anything you fancied (unlikely) you could always arrange for something else which from what we saw was never a problem. The room we had (Superior) was spacious, bright and airy with good furnishings, cleaned to a high standard every day, with each evening offering a turndown service including delivery of clean beach towels. Entertainment was presented every evening and the standard was good to excellent, we enjoyed it all. The beach is also fantastic with great watersports on offer. As previously mentioned the staff are brilliant, they truly know what customer service is, the wine glasses in the restaurant were kept topped up and the bar service, with on many occasions our drinks being poured as we approached and including the banter from the staff fabulous. We can well understand why this hotel attracts so many repeat customers. We intend to become another of their growing numbers. Sunday street noise is very lively so don't go to bed to early, try joining in a little and enjoying your holiday. We didn't use the Spa so can't comment but it looked to offer a good selection of treatments. Location is great if you fancy a look at the local bars etc. and good shopping on doorstep.

A very well situated hotel for visiting the Island. The hotel is clean, the service is very good and the food is excellent.
We had an ocean view room, which was good but wouldn't recommend spending the extra as there isn't an awful lot to see in the evening. The beach was small but sun beds were always available and there was plenty of room around the pools but there is very little breeze there as it is surrounded on 3 sides.
The 'glass bottomed boat' was disappointing as there was very little to see and only travelled out a couple of hundred metres but understand that the catamaran is better.
The hotel is very small and personal and ideal for couples but not for children.

Room Tip: Anywhere except those at the front overlooking the bars

I was a little worried by some of the reviews written about this wonderful resort and I suppose that if you arrive from the UK on a Sunday (and stay in a standard room) you probably won’t appreciate a Rastafarian rendition of Pink Floyd's Another Brick in the Wall at just after midnight. Similarly, if the weather is particularly bad and, it ‘pours it down’ for an extended period, you may find that part of the hotel’s beach front gets washed away. However, my wife and I had arrived on a Thursday and were fully recovered from the jet lag so we found the Sunday night Karaoke really entertaining. Likewise, we never had more than an hour of rain and so only saw the beach in all its Caribbean glory. I suspect that once people have recovered from the stress of their journey the issues reported by some of the posters on this site just become trivial. Our experience was that ALL the staff at Mango Bay went out of their way to make us feel very welcome. Our standard room was very comfortable with a glorious view of the ocean. The food was very good and, as the menus were available at breakfast time, you could always be certain that you’d have something tasty to look forwards to. Even guests who had a special request could get it catered for provided they asked early enough for the staff to source and prepare it for them. The drinks were plentiful and made with better ingredients than many of the places we visited. The gym was just big enough and helped us burn some calories. The pool was beautiful and clean. The beach is beautiful with plenty of loungers and lovely for swimming. Things that made our trip just that little better than we expected were: the boat trip to swim with the turtles, the glass bottomed boat trip the outstandingly helpful and friendly staff, the variety of good quality, tasty food, the superb ice cream sundaes. Ok so it’s not a 5* resort, but it’s not advertised as one, However, it is a good 4* resort which provides great value. We’ll definitely be back.

My Wife and I have just returned from our honeymoon that included 12 nights at Mango Bay.

I have ummed and arred about the grading scale but went with a 4 star with the rationale that 5 would have to be near perfect!

We had a fantastic time. The hotel is a nice size, there are plenty of people knocking about to have a chat with, but at the same time this is far from a tower block hotel and it definitely has a small and personal feel to it.

The food consists of a buffet breakfast that covers all of the basics and the standard is very high, whether you want fruit, pastries, pancakes or a good old fry up!

The lunch and dinners are mostly a la carte with the odd buffet. Unless you are being incredibly picky, the standard was very good.

There is even an afternoon tea if the brekky and lunch have not quite filled you up.

The Bar is very good with plenty of branded spirits to go with the cheaper local ones, you just need to specifically ask for them, which is not a problem.

The rooms are cleaned daily and the bath and beach towels are always replaced.

The staff were very friendly and professional.

There is a creek behind the hotel that does occasionally smell a bit stagnant, but this was not an issue. One issue was that due to heavy rainfall the bank of the creek was manually burst into the sea right on to the private beach, which meant the red flag went up for a day. Not ideal but given the pool and overall standard of Mango, I would not let this put potential bookers off.

I have read Jess259's review and do not agree with the content. Whilst I cannot comment on the room Jess stayed in, I can only say that ours was very nice. We went on a day trip and were provided with a packed lunch and we also had no issue with the timings of the catering. This is certainly not a 1/5 Hotel.

The evening entertainment was pleasant and at times very good.

For a Couple and/or Family environment this is a lovely hotel. I would not recommend it for young single sex parties looking for action.

The complimentary boat trips were both very nice.

Whilst Mango Bay is not quite 'Bounty Advert' perfection, I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone and my wife and I have both said we would like to go back.
A great place, 4 out of 5.
