We have just come back from a week at this lovely lovely hotel - we have stayed in lots of places as a family but have never found one as close to perfection. The highlight for us was the fabulous food! We have stayed in another hotel in Barbados previously and chose to eat out to avoid the hotel food but we could hardly be dragged out from this hotel. Equally wonderful were the helpful and welcoming staff.

The four of us stayed in a luxury garden cottage, spacious, very comfortable and and as private as we had hoped. The beach is good (could be bigger but isn't a problem) the pool usually empty and great for the children.

We can't wait to go back.

We stayed at the Coral Reef for three nights as part of a Caribbean honeymoon. The hotel was charming, the gardens lovely, the staff attentive and efficient, the food excellent, the beach good for both swimming and a little light snorkelling. Absolutely nothing was less than excellent and all the staff were just so friendly and anxious that you should have a good time. Highly recommended.

My husband I stayed at Coral Reef for 8 nights, after deciding to switch hotels shortly before our arrival in Barbados. What a great decision! I will try and summarise in different sections to give a comprehensive review:

Atmosphere/guests:
The hotel manages to feel like a luxury hotel whilst retaining that special Caribbean charm. It's large enough and spaced out enough that you can retain your anonymity if you so wish, but there is a pleasant community experience on offer if that is what you prefer e.g. an inivation to cocktails at the owners' home. Guests are predominantly British, but no footballers or WAGs in sight thank goodness! I personally much prefer it to Sandy Lane, which is a little clinical and lacking in character but beautiful nevertheless.

Rooms:
Rooms are well equipped and extremely spacious. Excellent wifi connection. No tea/coffee facilities or TV in the room, but you may request this if required. Beds are super comfy. The garden cottages are in the midst of the beautiful, tropical, lush garden, the ocean view rooms have a delightful view of the sea. Rooms have very spacious terraces, regardless of which floor they are on. There are also multi-room villas on offer for families or groups.

Grounds/facilities:
There are two swimming pools, with poolside service, sun loungers right by the sea. Tennis courts, with daily tennis coaching from 4-6pm, a fitness room that is reasonably well equipped with free weights and several running machines, plus other equipment. Last but not least the wonderful spa! It's beautiful, the ladies there are lovely and exceptionally good - a calm oasis. I went there 3 times! The gardens are beautiful too, as mentioned above. It feels as though in the middle of a tropical rainforest at times. There is a tour of the gardens on offer.

Food:
Breakfast was delicious, with plenty of options ranging from fruit, cereals, yoghurts, cooked breakfast, waffles, omelette station etc. We also had lunch, but did not dine at the hotel in the evening as the island has so many wonderful restaurants to enjoy (you must go to Champers and the Cliff)

People:
All the staff are friendly and extremely helpful, room service is fast, they are happy to help with any requests (e.g. arranging dinner reservations, car hire and so on), rooms are serviced twice a day if required.

Location:
My tip for the island is to hire a car, and make it a jeep as some of the roads are awful! The hotel is situated a good 10 minute walk from Holetown, which can feel quite a hike when it's hot, but there is free parking in Lime Grove shopping centre and most restaurants/places will require a taxi if you don't drive and there is free valet parking pretty much everywhere you go (well free apart from the tip). It's easy to explore the island and even the North, East and South coasts are all about 30 minutes away from the hotel.

I wouldn't hesitate to return to Barbados and look forward to returning to Coral Reef.

*Hotel is very wheelchair friendly. A couple I met have come here for the past 4 years as it's very easy for them to get around with a wheelchair.

My first time to Barbados and the Coral Reef Club was a perfect choice. We stayed in a garden cottage suite and I can honestly say it was stunning. The service was excellent, the food great and the gardens, simply beautiful. Can't wait to return.

Room Tip: The Garden Cottage Suites are perfect

This is a fantastic boutique hotel that appeals not only to couples but to families as well.

The rooms are authentically opulent ( Cottages are definitely the best choice for room!!), successfully capturing the traditional Bajan style, and among them, the vast stretches of luscious garden positively add to the truly relaxing atmosphere. The staff are caring, thoughtful, and strive to address any issue that one might have.

My family and I enjoyed playing tennis at sunset after indulging in some afternoon tea!

The dining is exquisite and the hotel is luckily positioned, just minutes outside Holetown, where sensational restaurants, such as Nishi, await.

My family and I come to this hotel every year, and are always impressed!

This was our first visit to the Coral Reef Club and sadly it was only for 3 nights but we are so pleased we made this choice. We opted for this hotel because of its 1st class reputation as one of the best in Barbados. Just 88 bedrooms suited us as we prefer smaller intimate hotels. Attention to detail is superb. The staff are efficient and friendly and make you feel extremely welcome. Our room was spacious and in a wonderful position overlooking the sea and the beautifully kept gardens. There is only one criticism and that relates to the organisation in the dining room which could be improved but the fine dining and the 5 star buffets means you will be more than happy to forgive them this blip.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Coleus Corner Suite overlooking the sea to the front and the gardens to the side...
