After visiting the valley of Roses and Todra Gorge we continued our travels to Erg Chebbi on the edge of the Sahara desert. We met our Berber guide Bullman who explained all about our camel trekking and two hour tour towards our destination the Berber nomad desert tented camp.
Camel trekking was an experience, not the most comfortable ride but well worth doing, part of the adventure.
Especially during sunset, we had plenty time to take pictures and enjoy our environment, amazing. The vibrant and rich colours of the sunset filled the sky, set against the golden sand.
Arriving at our destination we were met by Yousseffs' family, the fire was lit, mint tea was very welcome and so were the hot showers after such a wonderful day. The food was delicious and plentiful, the combination of spices just right. After dinner Berber music and songs filled the moonlit surroundings, warmed by the fire. The accommodation was very comfortable, plenty warm blankets and candles to make it so beautifully romantic. The electricity was a bonus.
Going back on the camel and a beautiful sunrise after a delicious breakfast, made our time in the desert perfect. We really should have stayed longer, but at least I have an excuse to go back again.
Thank you to Youssef and his family to make this such a memorable experience.More
