Upon our arrival, we were greeted by the nice and handsome staff who helped us settle our belongings and served us nice tea. Afterwards, we started our camel ride, which took around an hour to arrive at the amazing spot to watch the sunset. The view was magnificent. We were allowed ample time to relax, take pictures and just enjoy ourselves. When we got back to the restaurant, we were served with delicious food, including the not-to-be-missed tajine, under the beautiful night sky with trillion stars. After dinner, the staff there played music, then we all sat down and had random jokes, smoked shisha, and lied down and dissolved ourselves in that wonderful place. The whole experience was magical.

Yes a sand storm trying to get there and Omar the owner got us there and put us in a room for the night. He woke us up before sunrise so we could still ride the camels out to the dunes for sunrise after the storm cleared.Omar personally seen us out of the desert the next day after a stop at a nomad tent to visit the nomad family and a tour of a kasbah. Friendly fun caring guy. He also worked with his brother to arrange a surprise birthday party for my wife the next night at our lovely Riad. The Riad is old Moroccan flavor for sure. you want to experience the desert than stay here. No Ac tv but great food. It was worth tuffing the heat.just great!

An unforgettable experience thanks to Sandfisch. We organised our trip to the desert through Sandfisch. They sent a 4WD to pick us up in Marrakech. The driver, Omar, is also a tour guide and speaks several languages. Omar was great: fun, punctual, polite, discreet and full of local knowledge to share. The trip was tailor-made. We drove through Ouarzazate and other small towns stopping to take photos wherever we liked. We had a stopover in a hotel (in Boulemane) one night and the following day we reached the desert, where Sandfisch auberge is. There we met Omar, the owner, who greeted us and made us feel at home. We went on a camel ride, saw the sunset, came back for a great tajine dinner at the auberge and we were entertained by live local music. That night we slept in a tent and the following morning we saw the sunrise. After breakfast we were driven back to Marrakech. Everything was literally perfect. The people at Sandfisch were incredibly nice and friendly...I would recommend this trip to anyone.

I spent two nights.2/days with Omar and his staff at Auberge Sandfisch (www.sand-fish.com) ....it is the closest place you can be to the desert and sand dunes without riding a camel further into it....Auberge Sandfisch is popular with the travel guides who bring many customers there....saying it is the quietest Auberge in the desert ...as it is furthest away from the road....
I had alot of fun getting to know the staff who are extremely warm and hospitable....I did not ride a camel but I got to see many of them up close...and learn about them...and life in the desert from the staff responsible for the animals...
I stayed in the tent...but choose to have my bed pulled outside at night, as the weather was very clear and calm...the only sound in the peace and stillness of the night and early morning was the desert wind gently blowing across my face...which i loved....one guide said to me..."the tourists know we have the stars, the moon, and the sand dunes in the desert...that is why they come"....
The staff proved some Gnawa music....drumming etc...during the late-night dinners on the terrace...and spontaneously during the day when the mood struck....they are a multi-talented .... providing service for food and lodging, answering our many questions about the life there, taking care of the camels which involves walking them daily into the desert to eat grass, guiding the camel rides into the desert....and just sharing life experiences during the many relaxing chats we had.....i will return......

Room Tip: If you are staying more than one night, i would suggest asking for the rooms connected to the main b...

Auberge Sandfisch Bivouac was a fun and interesting part of our travels in Morocco. The dinner, dromedary ride and entertainment were all fabulous, unforgettable experiences. Omar and his team are engaging, welcoming hosts.

We are campers, but I would skip the tent experience. It was quite windy while we were there and the tent was flapping loudly all night, not a lot of sleep was had. Also, having a clear roof would be a great improvement to the accommodations as it would provide access to the “millions of stars” above – which we largely missed out on due to the sand storm. Our uncooperative candles made for a very dark tent.

Having said the above watching the sun rise over the dunes still has me awestruck. Highly recommended!

We had a fantastic day and a half at the auberge. The staff were very hospitable and made for great company in the evening with plenty of banter over an impromptu round of mint tea after dinner and music. The tents were comfortable and clean. Bathrooms are basic and clean. Food was excellent, our vegetarian tagine was among the best we had the whole trip. Our dromedary ride into the desert with Salim was great fun, and he took the extra effort to walk us to a good vantage point in the dunes to watch the sunrise. Strongly recommend it.
