“An amazing place to stay, with amazing people owners”
Reviewed October 29, 2013

My wife and I recently stayed with Antonello and Silvia at the main property, and I cannot say enough good things about both the accommodations, and the owners. From the moment my wife and I arrived in Travale to stay with Antonello and Silvia we felt right at home, with Antonello greeting us and getting us checked in. He spent almost an hour with us speaking about our plans, what we would like to see, and recommending activities for us. The accommodations are renovated and perfect for a relaxing week in Tuscany. While on vacation, my wife's Opel experienced a suspension failure, rendering the car unsafe to drive. Antonello immediately called his mechanic who not only fixed the car in time for our departure, but who also loaned us a car so that we could enjoy the remainder of our vacation. Without Antonello and Silvia's help, we would have been completely stranded and our vacation would have been a nightmare. With their help, we were able to keep enjoying our vacation and get home on time. Our time with Antonello and Silvia will be one of the things my wife and I will always remember about our time in Tuscany. We cannot recommend staying with Antonello and Silvia more highly, you will have an amazing time!

The accomodation is wonderful because it is very comfortable and clean. We have a very warm welcome from Antonello and Silvia, the owners of the farm, from the first day till the last day of our stay. Also we can feel the taste of the organic Toscany food produced in the farm (The breakfast is completely handmade by Silvia, yummy!!!).
The room is equiped with hot shower and clean bed components and lavatory.
Moreover, the place is accessable to many attractive areas in Maremma like San Galgano, Follonica, Castiglione della Pescaia, Monteriggioni, Massa Marittima, Siena and Florence. You can roam around by car and drive along the romantic road in the arms of pure nature in Toscana. I would reccommend that "Colli Di Travele" is an ideal place for relaxation, romantic couples and family holiday!!

Rolling plains, slopes of green and brown, rural homesteads, the little village of Travale, topped with a blazing blue sky - and the Tuscan sun from early morning till dusk. This is what you will see from the window of the first floor. I'm talking about Colli di Travale (Prati di Travale) lovely little hideout in the Tuscan hills, somewhere between Florence and Siena. It has a ground floor apartment for two and a first floor for four. It was on this floor we spent a blissful two weeks. On the premises also a somewhat bigger building with again a number of apartments. And....a swimming pool for the guests. Agriturismo Italian-style. The buildings are antique, some say based on an old Etruscan settlement. But don't think we were in a crumbling old farmhouse - the buildings have been excellently refurbished. Simple, effective and superb. No TV, no wifi, no phone connection, unless you stick your phone a yard out of the top window. This may seem horrendous to the modern tourist, but it in fact adds to the atmosphere and the ambiance, to the sensation of complete relaxation and the getting away from our hectic day-to-day pace. Each apartment has its own seating outside, with the option to be in the sunshine or in the shade. Here you could meet other guests, in the shared entrance or on the pebbles where your table and chairs are. Is this a problem? We never thought so. Somehow this refuge doesn't attract the loud crowds. One meets culture-seekers, walkers, cyclists, people who enjoy the Tuscan countryside and all it has to offer. The unpaved road leading to this little paradise is an adventure in itself, it rises steeply, falls and rises again and is full of ruts for the transport of water. Use first gear... Again this adds to your "in-the-middle-of-nowhere" feeling. But don't worry. You will never get to the stage of a total recluse in Colli di Travale. To begin with there is your host, Antonello, former lawyer turned agriturist entrepreneur, who is always willing to tell you everything there is to know about  the area. And at some Saturdays in summer there are village meals in the neighbouring village of Travale: big tables laid out for the weary traveller, at which you dine with the townsfolk. In the nearby town of Montieri there are such services as Ufficio Turistico, a COOP and a little bakery which also serves bread CON sale. After your dive into the Tuscan culture - an ancient village, an abbey, a museum, a cathedral - or after a sweaty walk or hike, enter your apartment's fresh bathroom and shower the Tuscan dust off you. Prepare a good pasta with local herbs in the simple but effective kitchen and take your plates onto the pebbled seating. Pure joy!

We - me (30) and my girlfriend (28) from Germany - spent one week in July 2013 at one of this lovely appartements surrounded be real toscany nature, and always friendly and helpful host. We had magical moments in the night by watching the milky way, discovering sometimes glowworms and just listening the silence, only interrupted by real nature sound. During day we relaxed at the large pool, refreshed ourselves and enjoyed the view over the wide plain till the mountains and this lovely village Trafale with its bell tower. From our place we reached easily Siena for a visit or Castiglione della Pescaia for a boattrip shipping from island to island.
We definitely have plans to get back there soon.

We had a great stay there! The owners, Antonello and Silvia are extremely friendly and helpful. Absolutely the place to be to take your time simply enjoying a wonderful region. The "agriturismo" is placed on a small hill calm and rather windy i.e. a good point in Tuscany hot summer. Ask the owner for the place to visit and the restaurants, you'll discover an "off-the-travel-guide" south Tuscany which is really amazing.

Room Tip: I've been in "Torre della Gatta", absolutely recommended!
