Wild Waves Chalets
Reviewed July 7, 2014

I've stayed in countless self catering places on the South Coast and this has been the most modern and clean. Many places are tired and old and full of mildew, which I've become used to as a quaint South Coast thing. Not here. I stayed in Unit 9, upstairs with a view of the sea. Everything is newly built, the finishings are modern and new. Everything is clean and stylish. For the R650 I paid per night for a two bedroom, two bathroom unit with twin sleeper couch in the lounge it was a pleasure to stay here. Super hot water and completely modern bathroom fittings, granite kitchen tops and modern kitchen cupboards and appliances. There is direct access to the beach, and plenty of rock pools and a tidal pool for the kids to discover. The nearest swimming beach with lifeguards is St. Michaels, a 3km drive down the road.

The owners are a pleasure, they've clearly invested good money for great accommodation and they are a friendly couple who don't intrude on your spot if you choose not to pay for daily cleaning services, which I didn't. But they will leave cleaning products for you so you can get your kids to do the dishes every day, to pay for their holiday, like I did ;-)

Room Tip: I was in Unit 9, an upstairs apartment, which was fine and has a great view, but no braai on the bal...

The evaluation of Rudi J. could not be further from our experience in Wild Waves.
Since 2004 my wife and I have spent our holiday in South Africa eight times. Overall, we were 41 weeks in SA. We have traveled the country from north to south and from west to east. Whenever we came back to the same place or the same city, we booked new accommodations to experience something new.
There are only two places in SA where we booked the same accommodation multiple times.
One of them is Wild Waves where we stayed six times.
I guess that says all.

This will be our 5th holiday at wild waves. Elsie & Gerrit are always friendly and assit where they can. Its good value for money, place is quiet, clean and neat, with a well equipped kitchen. A relaxing holiday at the beach with direct access to the beach for great morning and evening walks. The front beach units have a great "stoep" to relax, hearing the waves break and seeing a dune with birds and seeing a side ocean view. Great security and undercover parking. Place is well located for shopping at different malls and good restaurants in the area. Thank you for a great vacation everytime.

My husband and I have stayed at Wild Waves for 3 consecutive years now, as it is by far the best value for money get-away, caters for all our needs while on holiday, perfectly situated, and feels like our own holiday home . Elsie and Gerrit are very passionate about Wild Waves, and their rules for the complex are no different from any other, well maintained chalets, on either the North or South coast. They are friendly, helpful and always accommodating and we will return every year for as long as we can. Thank you Elsie and Gerrit and we look forward to seeing you next year - Greg and Ania Engela

Since 8 years we are coming from overseas and spend our holidays at WW and we feel now the urge to say thank you to Elsie and Gerrit with all of our heart. Their chalets do perfect suit our expectations: They are practicle, spacious, very clean and equiped with all necessary amenities. Furthermore we love it to sit on the patio from morning to late evening enjoying the wonderful view and the sound of the Indian Ocean (enjoying a glas of wine). The owners and their crew are always friendly and helpful in all situations. By the way, thanks to Gerrit that I became almost a perfect barbequer (braai).
We will definitley come back the next 8 years - at least.

My wife and I have just returned to the UK after having our 5th annual holiday since 2004 in South Africa. In the years 2004 and 2005 we stayed at several Self Catering Accommodation including Wild Waves, which was exceptional value in comparison to the others. In the years 2007, 2013 and this year we spent our whole 7 weeks based at Wild Waves and will do so again in 2015. Elsie and Gerrit are outstanding hosts and nothing is too much trouble for them or their staff. We now regard Unit 6 as our "second home" and Elsie, Gerrit and their staff as friends. Visit their website www.wildwaves.co.za, there are no false claims or "touched up" photographs", what they say and what you see there is what you get.

We are a family of four (two lively sons, aged 6 and 4) and we are privileged to have visited Wild waves chalets during the past three years. From the first time we have visited Wild Waves the owners were very friendly, polite, helpful and caring (e.g. after hearing that we had small kids, she refused that we stayed in a flat upstairs , just so that they kids could have direct access to the grass area and we were so grateful for this). The owners were always and I mean always polite towards the kids (even when we played hide and seek till late at night, laughing and playing).

For the facilities, the chalets are very neat, clean and practical. The secure premise with electric fencing and gate is a sure plus, giving us peace of mind during the night. The chalets were always cleaned during the days we requested.

About the location, Wild waves are a stone throw away from the beach and the beach is very secure with rocks where the kids can play, two shopping malls are in close vicinity which is excellent when you quickly need something from the shops. Wild waves are also away from busy roads, which is essential for a well deserved rest.

Wild waves are definitely a holiday accommodation that we as a family value and treasure and we look forward to our next visit.
