“Amazing destination wedding”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2013

My wife and I had the most incredible destination wedding at Infinity Bay Resort in late January. The events coordinator, Grace, took care of every last detail and ensured we had a fantastic beach wedding. She was actively engaged with us for months helping to coordinate and plan every last detail and ensured that it all was perfect on our special day.

All of the staff at Infinity Bay were friendly and made us feel like family. Oscar and Josue did a fantastic job with the food and catering services for our ceremony, we couldn't be happier with how everything turned out. Our wedding guests were blown away by the spectacular performances of the band (Kristopher) and the fire show (Paul) and the Garifunas.

If you want to have an amazing beach wedding experience with excellent value, this is the place to do it. The West Bay Beach is fantastic, I have traveled all around Asia and Europe and Central America and this is by far the most impressive white sand beach with LIVING coral only 100 feet away from shore! In fact, I was snorkeling with my wife only hours before the ceremony while Grace took care of all the details in the morning.

The pool is top notch, and the swim-up Palapa Bar can make you any drink or food dish you like. Oscar runs a great bar, and the kitchen is happy to prepare any dish for you and will even grill up some fresh-caught whole snapper (island style of course!). The Resort is not all-inclusive unless you are booked through a specific Canadian tour company (Sun Wings).

This is just fine, since there are many great restaurants all along the beach or in nearby West End, which is just a short boat ride away. IB is the best property on West Bay beach right now, and the rooms are American standard condos with granite tops and appliances. It's like being at home! We preferred to enjoy our time on the balcony overlooking the beach. We made a trip to the grocery store in Coxen Hole, and stocked up on the necessities (wine, beer, snacks). I suggest you stop by the grocery store and stock up before you arrive to the Resort, as it can be pretty pricey to buy grocery items once you are at West Bay.

I would suggest you pay the extra money to get a room facing pool or beach and with a balcony with a view. The closer to the beach, the cooler it will be, so keep that in mind if you are booking during hotter season.

There are a few minor areas that IB could improve. I think that the front desk folks do get overloaded at times when there are many guests checking-in or out. Most of the time they are helpful, but sometimes get confused on the billing or room reservations, and we had to work with them to make adjustments to our room and bill a couple of times. It was resolved without issue in a friendly way, so not too much of an issue in the end. I would suggest you make sure to have all of your booking confirmed via email and call ahead to confirm before arrival.

We WILL return to IB and are planning next Christmas already!

Room Tip: Get rooms that face the pool or the beach. If hotter season, try to get rooms closer to beach, as t...

5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2013

We were at Infinity Bay from January 28- February 4, 2013. We had a bad start with Sunwing with mechanical issues. We had to sit on the tarmac in the plane for 3 hours prior to taking off. After that....everything was awesome.

Once we arrived at the resort, check in was fast and friendly. We weren't sure where the room was but they quickly escorted us to our room. The room key didn't initially work and they immediately had someone let us in and they started working on the lock. We got a new card and it worked. We sat on the balcony for a minute and in the meantime, they came and totally replaced the lock. They were so fast and showed concern to make sure we were safe and happy. Overall the staff here are all really friendly and efficient. I will break this review into categories.

Room:
We had a main floor one bedroom suite. Wow. Great room. The living room and patio furniture were a little bit worn but that is the only negative and that is nitpicking. I think the sun just faded it a bit. The terrace was a good size with a view of the pool, close to everything. Room 1401. Living room had a flat screen tv and couch. The kitchen is lovely with Honduran wood and stainless steel appliances. It was a full kitchen and the fridge has a water and ice dispenser. It is safe to drink the water. There is also a breakfast bar with stools. The bathroom had a shower/tub with jets. The bedroom was roomy with a large closet, big dresser and a king size bed. It had nice windows for natural light. All the furniture was comfortable. The room also had a free laptop size safe and free wifi that worked great. We had 3 sets of friends that stopped by from other resorts. All were very impressed and want to stay at IB next time.

Pool and grounds:

We loved the grounds. Quite natural looking with many plants. Despite all the warnings, we never noticed any issues with bugs. The infinity pool is large and beautiful. There are two waterfalls, one under a bridge over the pool. There is also a swim up bar which is attached to the Palapa Bar/Restaurant. The whole resort is kept clean.

Main Building:

Although simple looking, the lobby is clean and the front desk staff friendly. The buffet restaurant is located upstairs. There is an elevator available if required. The buffet has the option of sitting indoors or outside on the large balcony. The staff here are amazing!!! They were always friendly and fairly fast. They started to remember my unique requests without asking. (brought my own tea so I would want hot water with milk) The food was really good. We were quite impressed. There was not a ton of selection, but what they had was high quality. We liked every meal. Even though we were allowed 2 meals at the Palapa, we only tried it once. There would be a salad area (or bread/toast) depending on which meal. Lunch and dinner had 3 sides. There was a carving station in the middle. (or omelette station for breakfast) You then had 3 other main course options. One dessert and fruit. It doesn't sound like a lot, but I never wanted more. The food was really, really good. Sea bass, pork tenderloin, etc. Different themes each night like BBQ, Mexican, Asian etc. The only change I would suggest is moving the carving/omelette station to the side. Sometimes it was awkward because people were waiting for an omelette and you had to kind of cut in to get to some of the other options. It felt awkward asking if they were waiting for omelettes or if we were cutting in. This was more awkward if the other guest spoke a different language. Never a big deal though. The palapa restaurant was pretty good but we only had one meal there. It was a good place to hang out if the weather got sketchy and the bar is located there as well.

The Beach:

The very best part is the beach. There were sufficient chairs. There were not that many palapas but the palm trees provided shade. The beach area was not large, but it never felt crowded. Tons of beach vendors but security did a great job of having them move on. Although you shouldn't leave expensive items, we did leave stuff while we were in the water or on walks or eating and nothing was taken at all. We did keep our cameras with us though. The water was amazing!! So very clear. We snorkeled for hours every day. Turns out the best area was straight out from the hotel. There are channels you need to find and then it was like swimming in an aquarium. The water can drop quite deeply in places. This was pretty cool and we had divers underneath us! The coral was so beautiful. Lots of parrotfish, blue tangs, sergeant majors, a couple of barracudas, lobsters and ray.

Overall:

We have been travelling at least once a year for about 10 years. This was our first trip to Roatan and Infinity Bay. Having seen a bit of a few of the resorts and speaking to others, we would only consider Infinity Bay. Food, room, beach and staff were all top notch. We will return. We highly recommend Infinity Bay.

We just got back from a week at Infinity Bay and I wish we were still there. We are seasoned travellers who frequent All Inclusive resorts. This was our fist time in Roatan but it won't be our last. We booked through Sunwing leaving out of Toronto since they are the only tour company offering this property.

FLIGHT: I am not a big fan of Sunwing but for the All Inclusive package we didn't have a choice. The flight left on time (remarkable for Sunwing) The line ups for check in were insane. They had one line up for different locations and not enough staff.
The flight itself was fine, but the usual miserable flight staff and terrible food.

The Roatan airport is under construction right now but looks like it will be quite nice once it is done. There wasn't a Duty Free, restaurant or bar but there should be soon. Things were pretty crazy there since it is small and unorganized.

TRANSFERS: Buses were waiting for us outside the airport and we had no problem finding someone to steer us in the right direction. Your luggage does not go on the bus with you, but in a separate vehicle, which we have never encountered before. Once the luggage arrives they put it in the garden area where a resort staffer is. He took our stuff up since we were on the 4th floor and didn't have access to the elevator. It seems you need to ask for assistance to use the elevators. We didn't much mind since we wanted the excercise but after climbing 54 stairs to get to our room several times a day we would have liked to use the elevator once or twice.
The drive to the resort was about 30 minutes and the Sunwing rep on the bus was great. There is one main road in Roatan and beware, it is pretty bumpy. Not a big deal but worth mentioning.

ARRIVAL AT RESORT: The new lobby is built and is quite nice. We were greeted by staff and they had tasty snacks and punch out for us. It was early and we didn't expect our room to be ready but it was. In fact we were upgraded to a two bedroom from a one bedroom.
We couldn't have been happier with our room, it is exactly like the pictures on the website. Large, airy, well appointed and comfortable. We were in Building 9 since I had asked to be put away from the bar for less noise. I loved our location and we were very close to the lobby and buffet. As stated in other reviews the housekeeping could be better since items never seemed to be replaced. All it took was a note to our maid asking for items and they were there upon the return to our room. Not a big deal but something we have never encountered before elsewhere.

The King size beds are firm but comfortable but they could invest in some new pillows. There are no bathtubs in the rooms which was a bit of a disappoint since I love my bubble baths but I got over it. The showers are large and the water pressure is so-so. The air conditioning works great and you can change it to what ever temperature you like. There are ceiling fans in the bedrooms, living room and on the balconies.

This resort is not large, at least not what we are used to and we loved it. You don't need a trolley to take you anywhere, you are close to everything wherever your room is. The grounds and pool are beautiful and always spotless. There are about 5-6 resident cats that hang around and we visited with them daily.

The beach is pristine and will take your breath away. Being on the bay, the water is calm and perfect for swimming and snorkelling. Now the snorkelling...WOW! You are right on a huge reef and you can snorkel all day and see something different, it was fabulous. We saw barracuda, parrot fish, trumpet fish, sea turtles and many other spieces.

They have one bar, on the beach called the Palapa bar. No draft beer or slushie machines here, all beer is served in bottles and drinks are made fresh. The local beer is very good and my favourites were Port Royal and Salvavida. The bar can get quite busy at times so sometimes there is a bit of a wait. We tipped generously during our stay and I think it helped provide us with faster service.
The food at the Palapa bar is quite good and we enjoyed 2 lunches there. With Sunwing you get 2 al a cartes per week and they are at the Palapa. You can use them for lunch, dinner or even room service which is nice. Since the buffet was so good we wanted to have all our suppers there. The table wine served is also very good.
The buffet is great! It is small but everthing is very high quality, always fresh and never frozen. Every evening is a different theme and we enjoyed them all. Kudos to the chef and his team!
When the buffet is closed there is a Sunwing snack station set up near the bar and pool. This was great except for all the Non-Sunwing customers eating from it. Not sure how this can be stopped, there is a large sign stating is is for Sunwing guests. It wouldn't be that big of a deal except food kept being depleted by guests who were not part of Sunwing.
We asked the staff if they could put more food out and they would, which we appreciated.

We liked the staff here, they were always pleasant and nice as well as any other Honduran's we encountered. In Roatan, their day off is Sunday so the resort gets quite busy with Honduran's and we loved it. We got to meet these wonderful people and enjoy their company.

I believe there are 3 cruise ship stops a week with people coming to the beach. I didn't find it very bothersome. They do not use the hotel's loungers, they are next door in their own area. The beach is a bit busier but who cares! In fact we met some nice people from the Cruise ships.

Now about loungers....I think this is my only real complaint. They are all taken by 7am in the morning by the pool. People leave towels and other articles to "stake" their claim. I have no problem with this if people were just having breakfast then coming back but this was rarely the case. In some instances, we saw unused loungers for 5 hours while they had gone out and shopped. This is just plain rude. We were told in our Sunwing briefing that the hotel will not tolerate this behaviour and start removing towels from loungers, but we never saw this happen.

If you plan on being at the beach all day then you can get a lounger usually anytime before noon.
This is a very laid back resort which I loved. There aren't a ton of activities going on or loud music, it was very relaxing. Don't get me wrong it is not boring at all but if you are looking to party and get crazy this place isn't for you.

I think it is perfect for couples, small groups or families. Most guests seem to be 40-60 years old with the majority being Canadian. Anyone wearing a red Infinity Bay bracelet is Sunwing and the blue bracelets are for guests not in the all-inclusive program. I think going all inclusive here is the way to go since the drinks and food are great.

We took walks down the beach everyday and had lunch once at a different place just to switch it up but preferred the food at the resort.
There are water taxi's right in front of the resort and for $3 they will take you to the West End. We took a half day tour of the island and really enjoyed it. It included an Iguana farm, butterfly garden with monkeys and other animals. You visit Coxen Hole, the capital of Roatan, the light house, rum factory, Flowers Bay and the West End.

Friday is "carnival" day in the West End with parties in the evening. Sunwing offers free water taxi's at certain times for this and you sign up on a sheet in the lobby. There are also other activity sign up sheets in the lobby for Sunwing guests. The two reps at the hotel were great and very helpful and friendly.

We didn' t have any problems with sand fleas or any other insect. Neither one of us got bitten the whole time there and never wore insect repellent. It was cloudy and a bit rainy one day but beautiful, hot, humid and sunny for the rest. Rainy season is over so this is a perfect time of year to go.

I had the pleasure of meeting Rick, the general manager. A super guy who will do anything he can to make your stay pleasant. You can't miss him, well dressed and always has a big cigar.

There is so much more I could gush about but I will leave it for now. If anyone has any questions, please feel free to email me.

Room Tip: If you want quiet ask for a room closer to the lobby. You can still see the pool, gardens and sea. T...

People in Honduras are very welcoming
Food : Very good
Activities during the day at the pool could of been well appreciated - missing
Beach : Excellent with sand like a powder
Water: So clear and no wave - Excellent for activities in the water with children
The only problem that we have was our reservation room . In our document from
our agency it was well identified that we were supposed to have a room with a terrasse.
We were send to a very small room in the back of the hotel (402B) with the air comditioning
not working properly. We had try with Sunwing agent & also one of the manager to get was
was on our confirmation but it had seem that nobody has consider our demand. This was our
desapointment. An been 2 weeks in that king of room when you are expection something else
it is frustrating . We called our agency and another letter was send to the Infinity desk showing
them the reservation but nothing was done by your personnel.

Room Tip: Make sure your agency ask for a room not in the B section

We have stayed at many all inclusive resorts all over the Caribbean. Infinity Bay is one of the best places we have stayed. We flew down with the Sunwing AI package.

Check in was a little slow and our rooms were not ready until 4pm. Understandable when you have an early morning arrival. We attended the Sunwing orientation meeting. The rep gave us some good information, however I found them to be more interested in selling you tours.
Check out was fast and organized.

ROOMS...We had requested 2 one bedroom villas, we were travelling with our children ages 18 and 21' they could not provide us us with villas close together so they upgraded us to a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom villa, it was beautiful, very clean and spacious. The maids did a wonderful job everyday. On one occasion our room did not get cleaned,I just called the front desk and asked for more towels within 5 min towels were delivered and 45 min later the maids were there to clean. No big deal! It was a slight inconvenience that the elevator did not work we were on the 3rd floor, I'm sure if we had mobility issues we could have moved rooms, but again that was not an issue for us. Can not comment on the TV stations since we did not turn on the TV. Wifi was available in the lobby, buffet and at the pool bar. We could connect in the early morning or later at night on our balcony.

FOOD..Very plentiful and flavorful. My family are very picky eaters and at no time were they hungry. The International Buffet has a theme night every day, sushi was wonderful, beef was very good and not tough. The only night we did not enjoy was the Seafood night, but that was just us as we are not seafood lovers. Breakfast and lunch was very good as well. The Palapa Ala Carte was also very good, had the burgers, coconut shrimp, conch soup and the Aztec soup excellent! The drinks are very good as well. If you sit at the bar you are served your drinks in a glass, if you take your drink to the pool you are served your drink in a paper cup, much better for the environment since the paper cup can be recycled, In my opinion the cups could be a little smaller since they get warm fast and then its a waste.

POOl, BEACH and GROUNDS......the pool is very clean and large never did you feel crowded. We did have to get to the pool early to get chairs. If there were no more chairs the staff would get more chairs from the beach for you. Perhaps the resort could purchase more chairs and also some more umbrellas for around the pool. The staff is always cleaning up around the pool, never any garbage laying around. There are also lots of garbage cans to deposit your garbage. The grounds are beautiful, very well maintained. Plenty of flowers and different trees and shrubs. Beach is beautiful, snorkeling fabulous right out front. There are a lot of vendors but a simple "no thank you" moves them along.

BUGS...... Did not have any big problems with this. One of our daughters had numerous bites but she also gets bitten more in northern Canada as well.

DIVE SHOP....Our daughters did there open water certification with Infinity Divers. I have nothing to compare with since this is the first time diving. What we experienced was nothing but professionalism. They were very helpful and knowledgeable. The equipment was in excellent shape, and the dives were very organized. I would like to thank everyone with Infinity divers for making this such a great first time adventure.

MANAGEMENT and STAFF......We met Rick on several occasions he is the manager. Always asking how things are and willing to listen to suggestions. The staff here are very friendly and will do anything for you. They are smiling and happy! This says a lot about the management. I wish I could list all the names but I am not good with names and there are far too many to thank. So a BIG THANK YOU to all of the staff and to Rick for doing such a great job!

ENTERTAINMENT....There was a little entertainment at the pool bar every night. I would of liked to see it last a little later. Entertainment stopped at 10pm. Perhaps some livelier music around the pool would be nice. We did not enjoy the movie night, since it was the same movie we saw on the plane down to Roatan, and can always watch a movie at home. They also had the Grammy's playing on the big screen on Sunday night, again not something we were interested in.
It would also be nice to have some day time pool side activities during the day. Perhaps some volleyball, dance classes etc. It would help to burn off some of the extra calories!

Comparing this resort to the many others we have visited I would give this resort a 4 star. With some tweaking with Sunwing this could become a 4 plus star resort. In my opinion I don't think this will happen since Sunwing has the monopoly right now and they really don't care.

We have never visited the same Island twice. This is certainly a place we would return to.

CONS........The only Canadian Carrier to Infinity Bay with the AI package is Sunwing! We have had nothing but negative experiences with them, in the past and on this vacation also. 3 days later we are still waiting for our luggage to arrive from Roatan. They purposely left many bags in Roatan! We have found Sunwing to be very unorganized and their customer service deplorable. The Sunwing staff at the Roatan airport were very rude and hostile at times. Not a nice way to end a wonderful vacation.

SUMMARY.....A fabulous place, For those travelling down with the Sunwing AI. Do not worry, you will have a great time. Don't sweat the small stuff. Your biggest disappointment will be with Sunwing, not Infinity Bay. Watch your 20kg bag limit they will charge you even if you are just 1kg over weight. Your carry on can also not weigh more than 5kg, if you are over they will charge you as well. Not as bad leaving Toronto, however returning from Roatan they are very sticky! Personally I think the scales are off since we were 1.5 kg each over weight returning and they charged us $120.00! A cash grab for sure, not sure if the money goes to Sunwing or the Roatan Airport. Even after paying the $120.00 all 4 of our bags are still no where to be found!

I am hoping Infinity Bay can negotiate another Canadian provider, and keep the prices competitive.

My first contact with this property was during my first trip to Roatan (November 2012), for breakfast - I fell in love with the location as we ate fresh fruit and omelettes at their restaurant under the palapa. Out of all the places I've dined in on the island, this was the most consistent with what I "usually" eat for breakfast - my most important meal of the day. I vowed to stay at the resort when I would come next.
When it was time to plan the next "quick" visit to the island, this resort was my first choice. I usually prefer "boutiqe" or "intimate" type properties when visiting a new locale - (glad I deviated from that)- Infinity Bay delivered and served its purpose. Even though I've never stayed on the property before, it felt like I was coming home to see old friends.
Denise Bueso in Reservations was so amazing from my first phone call to the property - she is very thorough and responsive.
I arrived a lot later than expected due to inclement weather on the island, our flight was barely allowed to land - 6 hours late and I was worried that they would give up my room to someone else but they didn't. It is impressive that they don't charge your card until you check-in. The check-in process was seamless.
I had a basic "studio" room that was very spacious, with a balcony. The room came with a queen bed, washer & dryer, kitchen, full-size refrigerator and utensils - the bathroom was big with nice marble counters. A studio can easily accommodate a couple with one small child...it has everything that you need especially when staying for a week or so. It reminds me more of a lodging that one would find in a ski resort. I only wish that the walls were thicker or had better insulation against noise- you could hear everything when people are coming and going- (and I was on the second level). There's also no internet connection in the rooms- the operator told me when I called that I would have it if I sat outside on the balcony but it never worked for me. :(. Then again you're supposed to be outside anyway when visiting an exotic place like Roatan.
Their breakfast buffet in the main building overlooking the courtyard and the sea is worth the money- it comes with an assortment of pastries, hard-boiled eggs, fresh juices, fruits and an omelette station. I can see how it can be redundant though if you're staying for an entire week and taking advantage of their all-inclusive plan. The breakfast selection didn't change from one day to the next but I know their international buffet dinners do (I didn't get to try it this time) as I ate off site. I also prefer dining under the palapa on the beach next to the bar, something about having your toes on the sand while eating/drinking just enhances the beach visit experience :)
The public areas of this property is well-kept. The pool is without question its best amenity, complete with a swim up bar that is on the beach. The bar has great drinks, good, basic food and very attentive servers.
I love that the property offers all kinds of activities on-site from kayaking to standup paddleboarding to scuba diving and boat charters! Once you're here, you don't need anything else. It's a great property to stay when traveling with children as it is also very safe.
I will stay here again in a heartbeat!

The infinity bay hotel is nice a big, very secure, I took my mom to Bay Island as a Mother's Day present last year , we spent 4days, the rooms were spacious and clean they need to do a better job with exchanging dirty towels everyday also the waiting at the reception was to long you would think that they will have everything ready since I make the reservation 3months in advance and paid the full amount.

The fact that you thought the hotel was beautiful and had a wonderful time is gratifying to the entire team…your experience is our number one concern!
