“A transcultural passage to culinary zen.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 17, 2014

How does an Aussie girl get the attention and devoted participation of her staff at the kitchen, on an island in the Caribbean, to produce and present a memorable assortment of fine entrees? Bravo!

The menu is interesting
the food was excellent
the wine to the right temperature
while the background music allowed for discrete conversation.

do not miss the opportunity to meet Lala and her wonderful team.

“From the moment we crossed the bridge we were in a fantasy land.”

We live up the road from LALA and in fact we used to live in this very same house. We have been watching curiously over the months as the owner, Layle Stanton worked her magic in creating one of the most unique spots in Roatan. It is a funky, quirky, artsy fartsy mix of brilliance. It has table seating and secluded seating all over the beautiful gardens, where from every angle one notices something interesting being displayed. It was a delightful and visual overload of the senses. The kitchen is opened to the customers so the smell of deliciousness was intermingled with the scent of the flowers growing all around. The menu is very different from anything in Roatan as it offers choices for Vegans, vegetarians and regular palates as well. We choose the Thai chicken salad with pita bread and a grilled veggie wrap with Feta cheese and pine nuts. both were out of this world. While waiting for our order we wandered around and sipped our wine and munched on chicken liver pate'. All of these choices were splendid. For desert, home made banana cake with Layles freshly made ginger and lime marmalade. Truly amazing. The staff is super friendly, attentive, the dogs are well mannered and make it feel very homey. We can't wait to go back.
