We stayed at the Paradise Beach Resort for a week after the March break. Originally when we booked online, I booked for a specific room and the next day I received an email stating that my reservation could not be met and that I would have to move on the last night to another room. A little hesitant we went along with it. As it turned out, the last night they moved us to a condo type unit right on the beach. The porters arranged to move everything for us and there really was no disruption so I must commend the Paradise for their efficiency. We ate at the resorts pizza restaurant twice and the pizza was better then the pasta that we had. The breakfast buffet was adequate, it has the exact same food everyday which would have been nice to change up a bit. The resort is kept nice and clean and the rooms were very clean. The service was very good and overall our experience was enjoyable. We arranged for the Paradise to have a car rented for us and they promptly arranged to have a car delivered to the resort from Hertz. The entire process was flawless. The Paradise is a the far end of West Bay Beach and later in the afternoon, we could hear the disco noise from the Henry Morgan Resort down the way. Was glad we didn't stay at the Henry Morgan which we had originally booked and canceled due to conquest Vacations canceling our entire package trip...that's another story. You will not be disappointed with the Paradise Resort.

Did not stay at the hotel but spent every evening at the outdoor bar and watched the sunset. The service was outstanding and the staff very friendly. One waiter, Frank Romero, was truly outstanding in every way. Made a great margarita.

Beach is beautiful and the property -- which is new -- is generally quite clean and nice, but...it's a resort experience in the end, which is not our style (the stay was arranged for us by a friend). Perhaps because we were there the week b/w xmas and new year, there were lots of families here, too -- again, not our thing, nor is the fact that the beach is resort after resort after resort. This is definitely not the place to go if you hope to only see each other and/or be with locals and away from foreign tourists.

The staff was generally very friendly and accommodating (the oddly frosty receptionist was the only truly unpleasant encounter we had), but as this is the property's first full 12 months of operations, they became overwhelmed at various times throughout our short stay. For example, a storm hit around 17.00 (5PM) one evening and the 3 on-property restaurants were suddenly full (although there was no wait for tables). They seemed to be completely unprepared, running out of all appetizers, all salad and all deserts by 19.00 (7PM). That the same waitstaff was serving all 3 restaurants at the same time was a bit confusing and stressful (for them), too.

Still, we were able to chill out on the beach in lounge chairs under palm-roofed awnings and dip in and out of the beautiful clear waters as much as we pleased. And had we had more time, we would have explored the island via water taxi and taken diving lessons. And, setting aside the fact that a resort experience isn't our preferred scene, the only major disruptions to the 'chill' were the cruiseboat tourists who descended on the beach in droves for several hours at least twice while we were there. Apparently there are 5 (but soon to be more) ships that stop at the island each week....

We are a family of four with teenage daughters. This was our second trip to Roatan.Last year we stayed at Henry Morgan's which was good but we wanted to get away from the commotion of an all inclusive resort. We had hotel style rooms which were kept spotless and were comfortable. We ate at different places around the island only to discover that the best chef was Edward at Paradise Beach. His seafood soup was incredible. We got spectacular service from our new Honduran friends Jacob,Orlando,Oscar and Alberto. The beach was much more peaceful than Henry Morgan's and you never had to worry about leaving your beach chair and items unattended while you went for a dip.The garden grounds were constantly maintained and beautiful. The pool was small and rarely used but we didn't go there to sit by a pool.
The Bad - Cruise ships are much more frequent and it is going to get worse.West Bay isn't that big to absorb all the passengers they dump on the island.
Final poll - My daughters preferred Henry Morgan because of all the activities, shows and group party atmosphere
- My wife and I preferred the peace and quiet of Paradise Beach.Over all it cost us a few hundred dollars more but we ate "GREAT" food and drank just as much. Both places have the silly wristbands but we just refused to wear them and all was cool.
Next year,we'll send the girls to Henry Morgan and my wife and I will go back to Paradise.
Island Must do's - Dolphin encounter,Canopy tour.We did a trip in Karl Stanley's submarine - wow. Sundowners bar in West end.Hole in the wall restaurant.
