Our 5th visit and still favorite.

We love this small intimate Beach resort and dive shop. Roatan is one of our all time favorite beach and snorkeling locations and this hotel is our favorite place to stay. This place has everything you need. It does not have a lot of the extras you don't need which is ok with me. It has good clean rooms with comfy beds and it is located right at the center of the West Bay beach. It does not have a huge fancy lobby with people to greet you with a drink. It does have a small check in office with at least 3 sweet young ladies there to welcome you with a smile, a room key and a coupon for free welcome drink. It does not have room service, it does have microwave, fridge and coffeepot in each room. It does not have a tv in the rooms, it does have CDs to rent and a library full of books in that small office. It also has nightly entertainment. It does not have a wet bar, it does have a real bar that looks out over the beautiful blue waters and is operated by the sweetest bartenders you could want. It does not have big buffet or all inclusive eating, it does have free breakfast, a brick pizza oven with weekly specials, a fine dining restaurant and a beach side restaurant with seafood, burgers, salads and lots of other good food. There are always super nice wait staff to greet you for breakfast , lunch , or dinner. Say hi to Carolina, one of the best waitresses on Roatan. If you are looking for fancy and uptight keep looking. If you want a place that you not only want to come back to, but let's you know in everything they do they want you to come back well then you found on of the best.

Friends & Family

Bananarama is the BEST - staff, beach, drinks, food and rooms. If you want elegance Bananarama is not for you. If you want clean, friendly, beautiful, well organized, good value for your money Bananarama is your choice. Lindell, Carolina, DeShaun, Andy(security), AM “chair guy” ( sorry I have forgotten his name) made our experience superb. It is a perfect tropical paradise. Definitely a repeat experience.

West Bay is Beautiful, Bananarama is OK

The beach is beautiful and the snorkeling is great. The issues with crowds and vendors has already been noted. The lack of shade on the beach at Bananarama is an issue. Food is standard. I only made a day visit but based on what I saw with the beach changing area and showers I would be hesitant to stay there at night.

We're glad you chose us as your stop while in Roatan, West Bay is beautiful and should definitely be seen while on the island. The afternoon sun is directly overhead and can get rather hot, we always have staff on the beach that will bring/set up an umbrella for you if need be! Thank you again for taking the time to write to us, and for choosing to spend your day in Roatan with us! Great four night stay.

Our family really enjoyed our stay at the Bananarama. We decided we picked the best place! Boys are 12 and 14 and we really utilized the dive center as well. Loved it. Enjoyed movie night on the beach, live music, free breakfast and great meals and wonderful service. The rooms were a little rough, dated, but more than adequate, and clean, getting a four instead of five rating.

Family Vacation

This was one of our stops on our cruise. We decided to pay to stop at this beach. Extremely crowded beach. Wifi was included but did not work. Lunch and drinks were included as well. The food was ok here. Service was phenomenal though. No beach space with shade unless you went to restaurant/bar area. Chairs are so close together on beach it's hard to get out of them. The water was amazing though. We parasailed and it was beautiful. Vendors were walking the beach nonstop and they would not take no for an answer. That is why I'm rating so low. They hounded everyone and was in your face. They'd even wake you from napping on the beach. Very rude and gave glares if you refused their service or product. Massage people walking around are very disrespectful and will put oil on you even after you tell them no. We will never be back to this area unfortunately.

Thank you for sharing your experiences, we appreciate guest reviews as they help us to learn and grow. It sounds as if you enjoyed your time with us at Bananarama, but had some bad experiences with the beach vendors. We're so sorry about that, Roatan's beaches are public so vendors on the beach are out of our control. We're glad you were able to do some fun activities during your stay, and are so happy the service was "phenomenal". Our waiters will be glad to hear it!

Again, we apologize if you at all felt uncomfortable on the beach, it is normally not as busy as you described.
