I can't say more about our overall experience at Las Rocas. The staff made us feel right at home and treated us more like family. We were there for my husbands 50th birthday and they even made him a cake! The accommodations were modest and perfect for our personalities. Food was very good as well.

We went diving 6 out our 9 days and I completed my advanced open diver certificate. Quick shout out to Sasha, George, Edgar, Christine, Jovanny, and many more.

Las Rocas is not a luxury resort by any means, but more like a comfortable home away from home. Can't wait to go back!

We planned a wedding for our son and his wife at Las Rocas. Pasquale the owner and his wonderful staff took care of every detail. The ceremony was right on the waters edge and was breathtaking.

The resort is great for the price. Rooms are clean and comfortable. The location was perfect for us because, it was away from the crowds but only a short walk to beach activities and numerous restaurants. The staff went above and beyond anything we expected. We loved the place and would defiantly go back. Travelocity was misleading about ocean view bungalows. In our units the ocean could only be viewed while standing on porch. With that said, Pasquale did offer to switch rooms as soon as one came available.

The food was overall very good. The lobster burritos, lobster ceviche, and the calamari rings are the best we have ever had. We found the specials that the Chef made to be okay at best, and anything he actually prepared had a very long wait. The rest of the kitchen staff and bartenders were excellent.

Fishing with Gary from the dive shop was enjoyable. Gary was very knowledgeable about fishing and all aspects of the island.

Over all a great vacation spot.

Room Tip: Make sure and e-mail resort directly to verify ocean view units

I'd second all the reviews. We loved this place and will go back. A very comfortable, place with a location right on the water. The staff was wonderful. The rooms are nothing fancy but offered everything we needed including the deck with the hammock. It was refreshing to stay at a smaller resort that offered great service, great food, comfortable and quiet rooms, as well as easy to get around without fighting the crowds. We enjoyed the wonderful views of the sunsets right off the deck while enjoying the 2-for-1 happy hour. We are looking forward to going back and will definitely stay here.

This was our first time to Roatan so we did not know what to expect of the island or our hotel. We were pleasantly surprised on both counts. Roatan is a spectacular location if you enjoy great weather, world class reefs, and friendly people. We stayed at Las Rochas and found it to be the perfect spot for us. It is located on a secluded part of the West Bay beach away from the hustle and bustle of the resorts on the West Bay. You can totally relax. It has a small beach, dive shop, restaurant, and wonderful employees. The reason it is the best of both worlds is that you can literally walk 7 to 10 minutes and have access to all the benefits / recreation/ party etc that you would find at most mega resorts. It is perfect for families, couples of all ages, or single travelers. The owner of the resort, Pasquale, is very proud of the resort and his employees. He took the time to share with us some of the major renovations that are constantly going on throughout the resort. We were very pleased with our room which was on the second floor in the back part of the resort. The room was spotless, had attentive daily maid service, and was perfect for my wife and I.

If you never want to leave the resort, you do not have to. They have a Dive Shop on the premise that will meet your every scuba, snorkeling, or whatever water related need you might have. They have an outstanding restaurant and bar. The chef is the best and received his culinary training in Paris, France. The drinks are potent so be careful during Happy Hour. Probably the best evidence of the top level service you receive at Las Rochas is the number locals and ex pats we met there taking advantage of the restaurant and bar. You know your in the right place when the locals are frequenting it and giving it unsolicited endorsements,

After this first trip, we are already planning our return this summer for a two week stay!

Room Tip: Pasquale the owner showed us all the various rooms the resort offers. You will not be disappointed w...

My wife, two daughters and I just returned from a week on Roatan, where we stayed at Las Rocas Resort. My first reaction upon returning: we never should have left Roatan! When can we go back?

We had a great week there, diving, snorkeling, relaxing; but a huge part of what made the trip so fulfilling and relaxing was staying at Las Rocas. We had read many reviews that talked about how nice the staff was, but they didn't really prepare us for the friendliness and generosity of all the employees of the resort. They really did make us feel like family. They learned our names and which units we were staying in after the first day; and by the end of the stay, we felt like we were leaving old friends.

From Fidel (who picked us up at the airport) to Raul and Winston at the bar; and especially the dive shop staff of Alex, Laura, Giovanni and boat captain Marcos -- we were made to feel welcome and brought into their family. Our younger daughter got her PADI scuba certification while at Las Rocas, and the diving instruction couldn't have been better. The dive shop staff even arranged for a couple of trips off the premises for us, including a day trip snorkeling and diving, along with a great shore lunch at Pigeon Key; and a truly amazing opportunity to go to Utila to successfully search for (and snorkel with!) whale sharks.

Another key point: the food at the restaurant is top notch, and Chef Isaac and the rest of the kitchen staff serve some of the best-prepared seafood dishes on the island. We rarely found food anywhere else on the island that made us want to eat at another establishment.

The accommodations at Las Rocas are pretty basic; they're never going to be like staying at a huge upscale resort. But they're clean and tidy, with comfortable beds and hammocks on the decks outside; and we spent so little time in our rooms that it's really a non-issue in my book. And the location, off the busy part of West Bay but still within short distance of the beach and the great diving sites, is fantastic. It's a quiet oasis away from the noisy, touristy activities that hold no interest for me and my family. The grounds are beautiful in a slightly overgrown, tropical summer-camp way that adds to the overall relaxation we experienced. And the sunsets are unparalleled!

In short, if you want to experience the Caribbean the way it was thirty years ago, try Las Rocas -- you won't be disappointed! Thank you to Pasquale, owner of Las Rocas, for putting together such a great combination of staff and property. We made some lifelong friendships there, and can't wait to return!

Stayed the first week of March 2014. My wife and I agreed that this was the most fun and relaxing dive vacation we have experienced. We love the location of Las Rocas because it is much quieter than being right on West Bay. Our reservation had us staying in a Standard, then moving to a Deluxe Bungalow. When we arrived we were put right into the Deluxe and did not have to move. This is our third trip using the Dive Shop at Las Rocas, dove 15 times during the week and each dive was a fun adventure. Laura, Alex, Giovanni and Markos worked together to make sure everyone's diving experience was excellent, preparing and adjusting equipment when needed, answering questions, and describing dives with enthusiasm. The other divers during the week added to the fun. Breakfast each morning had good variety. Only negative I would throw out would be to have coffee available at 7:30am rather than 8:00am. We loved the sunset on the Bar Deck each evening. Overall, we would recommend Las Rocas if you want a great, relaxing vacation.

Great location at the edge of west bay...quite in the shade with great helpful staff. After trying most restaurants in west bay we found out that the Las Rocas one serves the best tastiest and safe food in the area. The staff at breakfast and dinner are great

Room Tip: the family bungalows have a king and a single bad in each one
