Myself and 3 friends spent 2 weeks diving in Roatan with Bananarama Dive Center. This was our third trip in 3 years diving with them. Mal and Sophia are great managers and Marco and Martin are extremely knowledgeable and experienced divemasters. The boat captains are also very helpful and aware. Being experienced divers, we were given the opportunity to suggest dive sites and say what type of dives we wanted to do (drifts, wrecks, photography, including finding good sites for macro). We weren't "herded along" like we saw with other dive groups, and with smaller boats our diving was more intimate.
As a former diving instructor, I am very impressed with the professionalism and regard for safety in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. The dive store is well stocked and their rental equipment is in good condition. Their dive packages are good value. I would readily dive with Bananarama Dive Center again.

We just came home from another great diving trip to Roatan, Honduras, where we dove for almost 3 weeks with the Bananarama dive shop. We continue to use them because of their professionalism, competitive pricing, safety attitude, and long term staff that know the island diving inside out. A core of instructors who are fantastic teachers & great with people, and boat captains who are attentive and helpful.

We like the Bananarama location – in West Bay, just up from the point at the end of the Island. Very short boat rides to the many southwest dives (put your wet suit on before you get on the boat, so you're ready in 2 minutes), and quick trip to the point to drift at Texas (one of my favourite drift dives anywhere) or Pablo's Place. And if the wind comes onshore at West Bay, the boats move over to Flowers Bay on the other side, and it's a quick 10 minute drive by van to the boats, saving a pounding boat ride around the point. I like that!

Other things we like about Bananarama are smaller covered boats (6-8 clients per dive), well maintained equipment (BCDs, tanks, belts, wetsuits), nice long dives, and divemasters that are keen to provide the type of dive their clients want (photography, drift, athletic swim throughs, wrecks, or the infinite search for anenome shrimp and sea horses.)

The diving at the end of the Island is interesting, varied and first-rate. The Roatan Marine Park is right off the beach, and hosts a healthy reef, full of a wide variety of creatures and fish. This year we had a fun enounter with a pod of wild spinner dolphins, just offshore. Our capitan spotted them and beetled out ahead of the pod, while we popped on our fins, masks and snorkels. Out we rolled, with cameras, and had a great 10 minutes or so playing with a few of the more adventurous spinners. They particularly liked it when we dove down to meet them. Video to prove it!

We highly recommend the Bananarama Dive Shop, for their people, expertise, instruction and overall quality. And, as well, for the great happy hour and supper specials and wood-fired oven pizza served at the Bananarama restaurant/bar.

I emailed a bunch of dive shops before making my way to Roatan and Bananarama was the ONLY place that was prompt with their email correspondence and actually answered all of my questions. They offer fantastic dive packages at very reasonable prices. If you want to dive with small groups, this is probably the only dive shop that fits the bill. We saw other places routinely send 20+ divers on one boat. All the dive masters are fantastic and are great at spotting marine life. The night dive is a MUST. The competition is stiff at West Bay but I think Bananarama sets itself above everyone else.

We arrived in Roatan Friday 27th Jan on CCL Legend. I had booked my pickup with Bananarama online. Driver was there to take us from Mahogany Bay to resort. Trip was fairly fast considering road conditions...Resort was ready for 'cruise' guests; waiting with friendly smiles and warm hellos. Had a very short day [in port] but did manage to snorkel for over an hour and half. The staff was so nice and the drinks were so delicious!
If you haven't had a ''Monkey La La'' at the Thirsty Turtle, you are missing a real TREAT!
Cruisers should get off the ship and explore the Island: it's SAFE and FUN!!
We have been there many times and have spent several weeks on island without a single problem.
The people are very friendly and caring, they want your visit to be perfect for you.

This was our second time diving with Bananarama Dive Center. We did 71 dives in 2 weeks and Marco was our Dive Master the whole time. He was great. He took great care to make sure we were diving at different sites, loved those 'in betweens' Marco! His daughter, Lanita, is a Dive Master in training and she very often helped out on our dives and took up the rear to make sure stragglers, usually my husband with his camera, were o.k. Sofia and Mel run a great operation. Mel went to a lot of effort to help us plan a day dive trip to Cayos Cochinos; thanks so much Mel as it was an unforgettable day! Our dive captains including Manuel, Olman, and Edman were wonderful too! Thanks to you all for the great diving and wonderful memories. Hope to dive with you again one day.
