having read previous revues it was with some trepidation driving up to clough manor but the setting was beautiful with blue skies and clean ample parking facillities on entering reception my wife and i were greeted by alex who was pleasent and welcoming and was only too happy to call a taxi for us to go the church and provided us with a lovely coffee after the weddding service we went back to the clough manor for the wedding breakfast and photos a perfect setting in the small garden area where we were greeted with drinks and canapes ample time was given for the photos then we were seated for the meal which was quite delicious and served in a timley manner the service was very good and after the meal the set up of the room for the evening was also quick and efficient all in all we had a good experience at the clough manor and if the current owners remain its reputation will soon improve

A largely positive experience for us at Clough Manor. We attended a function at the hotel and our first impressions were good. The main function room was a good size with a sizeable dance floor. The staff were attentive if a little inexperienced, but the most positive aspect of the evening was the food. A three course menu for 80 plus people is never an easy task, but the food was beautifully presented and of a high quality. (The beef in particular was outstanding). The service at the table was efficient and there were appropriate pauses between courses. The cheesecake was amazing! After reading several reviews we decided to stay overnight at the Cherry Tree B&B across the road (which was first class), but overheard several people asking for rooms at the end of the evening. The response was that there were vacant rooms but that they hadn't been cleaned. What a missed opportunity, especially in the current climate! We got the feeling that there is enough about this place to make a real go of making it work, but some thought is needed to achieve a genuine 'can do' service attitude to have a fighting chance of competing with other hotels in the area.

A group of us stayed for a week-end and were greeted warmly by the staff who informed us that new owners had just taken over.
The rooms were large, well appointed and clean. The food was excellent, well presented and great value 10/10. The real plus was the staff who couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating.
The new owners obviously have an uphill battle to overcome the reputation of the previous owners, give them a chance and I'm sure that their hard work will make the Clough Manor a success.

we have just had our Daughters wedding at this venue..Dont Book yours !! STAY AWAY
We have as others say been pushed from pillar to post with different owners but went ahead when we were assured by the new owner that she has been in the industry a long time and knew what she was doing !! On a positive note the food is loveLy and so are the staff..unfortunately there are only about 6 staff to serve 120 people and the bar had two people on to serve 190 guests in the eveing..shameful ! we had asked to have the bar fully staffed and both open in the evening..this didnt happen causing guests to be left for up to an hour queuing and eventually commenting to all of us they couldnt get a drink..this was stressful for the Bride and Groom and should not have happened..it was a shambles..THE OWNER HAD TOLD US SHE KNEW WHAT SHE WAS DOING..But she had disapeared for the evening which was a suprise !!..it was only our own experience in the business that saved the day but not what I wanted to do at my daughters wedding..at one point the Bridesmaid had to go and buy some wine as the happy couple didnt have a drink on the top table..The next morning they were happy to take more money from us for the bedrooms which are appalling in most cases and didnt even ask how it had gone..I feel for the people who work there as i fear it will not be open long at this rate

My friend has just got married here yesterday and i have to say the whole venue was terribly cold and i f i had brought a coat i would have sat with it on the whole day and evening as it was freezing, we had a lovely meal although the potions where rather small , not enough bar staff on i seemed to get charged a totally different price for the same round of drinks my daughter bought , bar prices very expensive, the room was decorated really nice although i found the wedding service rather dismal and over and done with within mins,

We have been planning our wedding here for over a year but after constant let downs, broken promises as well as seeing standards plummet we have cancelled less than two months before our big day. We'll probably lose our £1000 deposit but it's worth it to move to a venue where we're guaranteed a great day. We're not even sure Clough Manor will be open long enough to host our wedding.

We have gone through three managers and each time we weren't told about the change, we just went up and happened to find out the person we were dealing with had left and no details were ever passed on, we had to reorganise from scratch each time. There was also a recent failed takeover by a couple of experienced, successful hoteliers - I'm not surprised they backed out of this car crash in the end. We even found out recently that the owner's company went into liquidation last summer and we were never informed. A little bit of research and we found out that bailiffs were even involved at one point, perhaps that's why the grand piano disappeared. Seems they haven't been paying their contractors.

The company is supposedly being taken over on the 22nd of February by the owners of the Hey Green but a quick Google shows these people bankrupted another local hotel in December costing several staff their jobs and that venue is now in administration and up for sale - I hardly think these people are going to turn around Clough Manor.

Clough Manor seems to open and close at will. We've phoned and visited on several occasions when it should be open according to the opening hours on their official website and found it to be completely closed - a business can't run like that. It appears to get very, very few visitors because we're usually the only people there when we go. The heating is never on and there's no background music so it's a cold and quiet place to go. They used to use Facebook, Twitter and mailshots to inform existing customers of events but the Facebook page has shut down, Twitter hasn't been updated for months and the mailshots dried up a while ago too. They used to host regular wedding fayres which stopped months ago and on top of that, they don't seem to advertise at all either so it's no wonder they get no customers.

Rooms have been left with damaged doors and interiors and not been repaired for at least a year in some cases. We went and looked in a room a few weeks ago and the wall mirror was sitting on the floor and there was a cheap looking electric heater in the room, so it seems the heating hasn't been working for a long time.

Long story short - stay away. If you have booked an event here, get out as soon as you can. We've been messed about since day one and it's only gotten worse. We do hope this venue gets the owners it deserves one day because it'd be a shame for the area to lose one of its few wedding venues. I don't think it would take much to turn fortunes around; it just needs a little TLC.
