“The Home of Bootie -Bootie Rita”
Reviewed March 10, 2014

If you are looking for large portions of good quality plain afician type food served with humour & big smiles this is the place .You made be lucky & meet up with one of the famous locals, who have dishes named after them like Geoff Special Omelette , this is definitely a locals place ,whilst we were eating delcious bobotie a large table was celebrating a birthday , plus something else was going in the corner . This is a fun place , low prices , on food , wine , beer , decor a little old fashion, with lots of funny signs , which added to the atmostphere . Rita stops open a lot longer than most other local places , so enjoy we did

The restaurant situated in the main street of Tulbach serves good wholesome food at reasonable prices,
The food is tasty and service is good.
Just remember if you blink whilst driving through Tulbach, you may just miss the town.

“Great place to visit”
Reviewed January 19, 2014

Looking for great traditional food, this is the place to visit, although it was not on the menu, we asked and got the Best Waterblommetjie bredie ever. Then the owner, Rita, come over for a chat. Made us feel so welcome and special.
This is a Fantastic place to visit.

“About to enter a new era”
Reviewed January 18, 2014

The sign 'vegetarians welcome!' at the entrance to Kuierbossie was sufficient to attract us inside for dinner. The inside is a large space with a downstairs part as well. Ceiling fans barely stirred the heat. The decor was a hideous mishmash from different decades of its existence. The brown ceiling attested to smoking indoors. The menu was also of a different century, and apart from spring rolls there wasn't a single truly vegetarian dish to be seen. But the spring rolls were actually nice and crisp and only slightly let down by the over-sweet chilli dipping sauce. My partners snails earned five stars but he's a sucker for garlic and brown bread fingers. Our pasta dishes were marked bey overcooked pasta and a glutinous sauce. Worse still, my 'earthquake' pasta (minus chicken strips) had such a heavy-handed approach to chilli powder that it was almost unbearable. And then there was the red wine that was actually evaporating alcohol as soon as the screw top came off. Goodness knows where it had been kept, but it actually cooled down in the upper 20s heat. So given all the negatives, why have I given it three stars? Well, the simple fact is that it has new owners who took the place over just three weeks ago, and they're delightful and clearly have great plans in store. And one of them is vegetarian. So we'll drop by in a year's time and sample the new era.

“Home away from home cooking!”
Reviewed December 4, 2013

The food, steaks, were grilled exactly as requested. The portions were more than generous as well. The friendly waitress gave us tips on the wine list and it was great to see her punting the Tulbagh wines. The "grotto" down below was super with wall paintings, murals and plaques. Rustic, yet pleasant. The newspaper clippings of yester-year and the local artwork on the walls, added a certain "gallery air", to the establishment. A must visit!
