This word is so overused, but if I had to find one word for the time we had with Horseabout, it can ONLY be awesome. We started by having a great picnic next to the dam. Then we went to the horses and after a quick "how to" session, got going. Knowledgeable Jo and John made the outride a pleasure. The horses were in excellent condition (considering that they live outside), they were well groomed, superbly mannered and just a joy to ride. No racing back to the yard at the end of the ride which a lot of novices have to content with on outrides (excellent schooling by John/Jo), and we did not want the day to end. And each horse has a history, mostly of neglect and abuse. It is such a pleasure to see these horses have a home which they obviously love, and owners who obviously love them, doing work that they all love. We were a group of girls that went out with them, and they took such care with the less experienced riders, that everyone went home afterwards with great memories having experienced a wonderful time with Jo, John and their horses. Cannot wait to get back and look at that view and mountains again.

We were here at the end of September and went out twice with Jo and John. It was the most wonderful riding. John and Jo are so welcoming and knowledgable and they really care about you and teh horses. We did the sunset ride and it was truly fabulous - watching the sun go down with a glass of wine. John was so helpful with riding tips and lots of polo stories! We really recommend it for experienced and inexperienced riders ( we cover both of those!). They are lovely people and deserve to do well. We will definitely return as soon as we can.

John and Jo are a dream team and their passion and love for horses is contagious. Anyone who’s never been horse riding, this is without a doubt the perfect place. We received an in-depth explanation of the “how-to’s” of horse-riding, coated with lots of laughs and exquisite views. You not only get to ride the most beautiful horses, but you are surrounded by the most picturesque landscape that provides for an incredibly enjoyable riding experience.

What a way to enjoy Tulbagh. Wonderful views with two wonderful people, Jo and John, who really enjoy what they are doing. On horseback into the mountains and if you lucky under the full moon and the stars. Definately number one in Tulbagh. Don't forget to hug Jo. She likes that!

Went riding on a perfect sunny winters day and what an experience! Breathtaking views over the Tulbagh valley, horses very well trained. Went for a nice canter through the canola fields and vineyards. This is a must when visiting Tulbagh! Thank you John, Joe & Spike Lister for a great ride, can't wait for my next ride!
