The Park Travellers Lodge is a great place to stay handy to all the natural attractions that the National Park has to offer. The rooms were comfortable and tastfully decorated with modern decor.
The facilities were fantastic with huge big screen telly and the options of fully self catering (with an exceptionally clean and well serviced kitchen) or ordering fromt he restaurant. A real mountain lodge atmosphere with a hot spa to soak the aching muscles.
Really impressed with the staff who were always helpful and friendly.
The only feedback to give is that it is a little pricey for a private room and the food from the restaurant was a bit hit and miss.
Would recommend for families or a group of friends.

Stylish property with a wide range of rooms. We stayed in a standard room with toilet and shower. The furnishing were modern and they conveniently include a refrigerator and tea/coffee facilities.

We liked:
++relatively new property
-stylishly decorated
+++Great sitting area with views of the ruapehu and a nice fireplace to sit around
-reasonably priced rooms, clean and nicely furnished
-location to ruapehu
-friendly barstaff
-rooms are ensuite and include a refrigerator
-nice kitchen facilities and for preparing quick meals

We didn't like:
-hostel crowd may not make for best atmosphere for families with small children.

We stayed at 'The Park' in the last week of April following an earlier visit by my wife when she entered a cross-country race, known as the Tussock, in January. My wife really enjoyed her visit so this was a natural base for us to stay and hike the world-famous Tongariro Crossing - known as one of the world’s great one-day walks. We had an excellent en-suite room at a modest cost of NZD105 a night. The bedding was extremely comfortable and the room included a large fridge/freezer, coffee & tea making facilities, flat screen colour TV. and power shower. The room was very clean and functional. We travel extensively each year and stay in a wide variety of accommodation as it’s always nice to meet other people. We especially appreciated the friendly and helpful staff and warm atmosphere by the large fireplace. The large communal areas are a highlight and allow travellers, who came from all around the world, like us to get together and share their day's experiences. We had a choice of cooking our own food (bought in a near-by mini supermarket) in the extensive kitchen or using the adjoining restaurant. We tried both options. While the menu is not extensive the food is of good quality and well priced. After completing the Crossing the next day and feeling quite tired after a long hike, we relaxed in the comfortable outdoor spa pool before enjoying a couple of glasses of wine by the fire. The following day the receptionist offered us useful advice on a suggested bush walk at a nearby reserve. There we enjoyed wandering past many old native trees, across streams and listening to the varied birdlife. The Park is perfectly located in the National Park Village and provides for summer and winter adventure activities including skiing, walking, tramping, mountain biking, rock climbing, quad biking, trout fishing, jet boating, running and visiting the Waiouru Army Museum. Would we go back again - yes without any doubt as this was one of the best 'short holidays' we have experienced and there is still much for us to do. The Park is in an excellent location and provided very good value for money.

The Park offers a choice of accomodation starting at $30,.We had an ensuite with tv at $110. The room was excellent, huge power shower, contemporary and so clean.
I disagree with last reviewer regarding food - the chocolate brownie dessert was best I've ever had and I am a self confessed foodie. Menu had only a few meals but all were made very well and tasty. Wine good and excellent price. The management were so accommodating and the young staff were smiey and helpful. The communal area was so inviting huge roaring fire after a long day walking. For value this was one of the best places I've ever stayed.

90 NZ$ for an en suite double room. Good room and good communal facilities - a small spa pool, a large well equipped kitchen.

National Park is a very good location for Tongariro and the Tongariro Crossing is probably the best day walk in the world. It is certainly the best day walk we have ever done.

The Park's restaurant is limited and dull, try the one at the Station which is very good, for lunch, dinner or just a coffee.
