“Good value”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 6, 2013

The magna graecia is excellent value. Reading previous reviews i think people expect ALOT for the money. The rooms are dated but very clean! and lets face it, how much time do u actualy spend in there. We had a room overlooking the pool which was lovely. Food was abit samey but it was fresh and well presented. And with the cheap prices it means we could afford a few meals out when we didnt fancy what was on offer. The pool was lovely! and location is excellent! (right across the road from the beach) would go back for sure! If you do go here, treat yourself to a pizza at La veranda which is a short walk down the road. Also say hi to socretes who is a waiter. he is a real asset to the hotel...actually all the staff were great!

Room Tip: ask for a pool/sea view. ground floor pool view rooms have little gardens!

This isn't a review as I haven't been yet I'm going on the 18th September with my partner and our daughter you will be 8months at the time. Is there any advice on anything to do with the hotel mainly for our daughter, which rooms are best are they helpful etc..... Iv read a lot of mixed reviews an its making me quite nervous.
Iv put all my reviews as excellent just so I can post this but haven't visited Dassia yet.
Thanks

just back from this hotel went with my husband, daughter and her boyfriend, yes hotel was clean we were in a garden view room, which turned out to be a car park not one flower in the hotel grounds my daughter's room was broken into at night while she was sleeping she had a her phone stolen and money taken, i had to ask the manager if she could change their room to a higher floor they should have offered that anyway. all the sun beds round the pool where broken food was ok sometimes not very warm and a lot of pork. the best barman was john at the pool bar entertainment was the worse ever this is deffo not a 4 star more like 2 we have been to quite a few hotels and this has to have been the worse one it badly needs a re-vamp then it could be a really nice hotel.

Room Tip: dont request a ground floor room or garden view

My family and I have just retuned from Corfu after 2 weeks in this hotel. The Hotel is very dated and really needs to be brought up to date (resembles The Shining!) although it is very clean. The staff in general are lovely especially the entertainment crew who work hard to look after the guests and keep the kids happy. The hotel/restaurant manager is rather letch like in the way that he greets the English ladies married or not, although he seemed worse with the single ladies and this got to be a bit much over the fortnight especially hiding behind bushes and watching sunbathers !! then going Pssst my sweet or my lovely !! The food was mainly geared round Italian and Russian cuisine and it was a little repetitive after a while and not good for fussy eaters ! also found that the Russian and Italian guests were very rude and often pushed in at meal times and the Bar for drinks. Overall the pool is probably the best part of the hotel although sunbeds were in short supply and there was a towel regime to uphold daily ! I think if you were looking for a quiet holiday with a letch and bar curfew at 11pm then this is the place to go :)

We stayed at the Magna Graecia last week (3rd week in August) and were pleasantly surprised especially as some of the previous reviews were quite damning. The rooms were dated but clean - fresh towels were provided daily and rooms were kept clean and tidy - one recommendation would be to replace the carpet with tiles though.
The location was good as it is near to the beach and shops.
The food was good but could have been warmer. There was plenty of variety and tasty.
The hill leading up to the hotel was quite steep but manageable.
If you are not keen on steps then this hotel is not for you.
The pool was fine but could have been cleaned from time to time as it was quite greasy and even though chlorine was added daily it should be emptied and re-filled at least once a week.
NSK travel should be avoided at all cost as they are in my opinion a complete rip off - we went on the yellow submarine and spent the day waiting for the guide to stop flirting with the local lads (kissing locals on a boat is not very professional) and get us on the boat. In all we waited around for four hours and were then sent to a local cafe to have yet another drink whilst the guide returned to her 'friend' on the boat for some more kissing!! The whole day was a shambles.
For a professional service visit the 'Real Travel Agent' - we went to Paxos, Anti-Paxos and the Blue Caves and had a wonderful experience - it's just shame that we did not visit them at the beginning of the week.
Corfu Town is well worth a visit.
If you want to visit Aqua-land, book early as it can become fully booked within hours, same if you would like to hire a car.
Back to the hotel, do not be put off by bad reviews as it is fine.

Arrived late on 10th Aug as party of 2 adults and 2 kids (13 & 9). Checked in no problem and please with room size (room 145) in main part of hotel. Air con was good and beds / towels made / changed daily and room and rest of hotel always very clean.

Food was good the whole holiday although not a huge choice compared to other AI hotels I have stayed at. Usually 3 meat dishes, rice, pasta and a wealth of salads and dips. All very good and by having less options I felt they got the balance with quality and choice about right. Limited options for a fussy teenage eater though and veggies would struggle a bit too.

Pool was a hit with the kids and sunbeds always easy to obtain. Pool bar never had much of a queue and friendly chap serving.

Evening entertainment was a bit lacking as others have mentioned. However it gave you something to talk about and poke some idle fun at. Greek dancing was ok but karaoke was abysmal although this was more the calibre of guest than anything to do with the setup!!!

All in all we had a great holiday. It was our 2nd trip to Dassia and we weren't disappointed.

Best Bits - Good rooms, clean rooms, good food, friendly staff, good location, smashing weather.

Worst bits - Kids / veggie food selection (being slightly fussy)

We had a really good time at Magna Graecia Hotel. My family and I stayed about one week in August, all inclusive and it was great. Starting with the food; the quality of the food was really good, it was super delicious, and there was offered a variety of food every day, three times a day. I have to say that the animations at night were really interesting and they really made our vacations. It started with the little kids at about 30 mins and then it continued with the other events for the adults. Every night something different was offered (at least during the 7 nights we stayed). We had latin night, karaoke night, greek night where some traditional dancers came. I have to say however that the place where these animations were hold, was not really big. In addition, the stuff was really nice, kind and polite. Although the room was a little outdated, it was cleaned everyday. My only remark would be the carpet, which should definitely be cleaned. The pool in front of the hotel was really great and clean too. The fact that the internet was not offered for free though, bothered us a little bit, but that depends on someone's personal interest of course. Also Dassia, the place where the hotel was placed is really nice. Like you basically have everything in the area, small shops, supermarkets, pharmacy etc and its not that far from the city of Corfu either. However the beach is not right in front of the hotel. You have to walk and pass the street (although not that much) in order to get there. However, forgetting these small things our vacation was really great. Like we seriously didn't want to leave :D I would definitely consider again this hotel for my next summer vacation. The price we paid was really low compared to the services and fun we received back. Thank you !
