“What a shame.”
Reviewed August 9, 2013

My family & I stayed here for 2 weeks at the end of July-August, we had read the reviews & were quite concerned as a lot of them were poor but we liked the look of the hotel & pool so thought we'd give it a go. On arrival the front of the hotel did look a bit scruffy but it was nothing a lick of paint wouldn't sort, the hotel inside was dated but clean even if a little dark due to the colour scheme. We stayed in room 301 which was a bit shabby & the air conditioning was rubbish, it was dripping water onto the carpet for the whole of our stay despite the fact we reported it & someone came to fix it. The view from this room however was glorious & despite the décor & air con the room was clean & well serviced by the maids who worked their socks off. The food at the hotel was always hot but very repetitive with pasta being the main stay of every meal. We knew we were going to have problems with food because my wife is vegetarian & pork features heavily on the menu here & the word 'VEGETARIAN' seems to get the same response from people as 'Scabies' . There is the option for packed lunches from the hotel if you are going out for the day but don't bother with them, the sandwiches are made the day before & kept in the fridge overnight so are like cardboard when you get them. The staff at the hotel were brilliant though, always polite & smiling despite being extremely busy, it's a pity the politeness didn't stretch to the other guests, a majority of which were eastern European ( Russian & Polish mainly ). I have never been in the company of so many rude, greedy people in my life. People were filling their tables up with food, despite the fact you could go back as many times as you wanted, then leaving a majority of it as waste. Shameful. I have been to Corfu several times & love the place dearly, the Greek people are lovely & are truly blessed to be living there. All in all, the hotel was fine, the pool was awesome & never overcrowded, the staff were brilliant but the guests were foul. Give it a go if you have thick skin & don't mind people pushing in front of you.

We stayed here for 2 weeks, end of June, beginning of July. The hotel is a bit dated, but very clean. We weren't happy with our 1st room, and they gave us a choice of 2 to move to, couldn't have been more helpful. The food wasn't up to much the 1st week, but after complaining, the manager came & said it would change, and it did. The food was hotter and much nicer after that. A lot of guests spoilt it by being greedy and then leaving the food which is a huge waste, I have to say it was mainly Easter Europeans who done that. I took my coffee in from the bar at lunch and evening meal as for some reason the machines were switched off after breakfast. Our only moan really is the entertainment, that was terrible, from 9 - 9.30 it was for young kids and they just sang the same songs every night, all different languages with actions, fair enough but not at that time of night, and in the bar area. The rest of the night was terrible, sometimes karaoke, 1 night Greek dancing, and that was it. Not what you would expect at an all inclusive hotel. Some of the moans surprise me, it is a 3 star hotel, but some people were expecting 5 star, you get what you pay for. Met some lovely people who helped us have a great time.
Many, many thanks to the staff, they were great, friendly, helpful, and very patient, so a big thank you to everyone, well done.

Room Tip: Rooms in the annex were much nicer than main hotel.

I went on an all inclusive here on the 30th June. After being delayed at the airport (we had to sit on a hot coach for half an hour) we got to the hotel at 1.45. The receptionist told us that we would be in time for lunch. By the time we got to our room which was the quieter part across the road we were back for lunch at 2.10. The receptionist then told us that we were too late to eat, so we ate out. In the evening we went to dinner and saw a mismash of everything. We dished a plate and the first bite was cold, so again we ate out. This followed a pattern for the whole ten days. The beds by the smaller pool were the most uncomfortable pieces of rubbish. We had to spend the whole holiday down at the beach which was lovely but we had to buy lunch and pay for sunbeds. The room we had 702 had a lovely view was was dark and dingy. The guests mostly Russian and eastern european were a miserable bunch. We said hello and smiled every day but just got a cold stare. We met a nice family from liverpool and Wale at the end and it was so refreshing to have a friendly response. Hi guys, if you are reading this (mum and daughter). I have so much more to say but i am not going to waste any more time. Corfu is beautiful but not the Magna Grecia. We wont be coming back

after reading the reviews my travel agencey urged us to book a different hotel but due to familly ties and having family that had already booked that hotel for us to have a family holiday we had to book this hotel and after reading the review doubts started to creep in, we arrived on the 1st of july to a supposedly 4* hotel all inclusive but on arrival was given a room that you couldnt walk in due you had to side shuffle that only had 1 tubular bed that was hand painted double bed when there was 3 of us had a mustard coloured carpet that had urine stains over it and so making the room stink in the hot weather after a lot of explaining and being told we had been given the best room in the hotel which in all fairness would of liked to see their worst they eventually put a fold up bed in the room for my 15 year old daughter who we had paid a full adult price for eventually we got moved to another room again with a fold up bed the entertainment was for small children with nothing for 10 years and up the coke was watered down and we actually saw it being done so and put into a water bottle all inclusive but u couldnt have a glass of milk because that wasnt included as was a fruit juice a bottle of water you could only have a glass, not allowed a coffee at dinner or tea time their afternoon snacks consisted of cold hash browns left from breakfast spinach rolls sandwiches of spam and cheese held together with a cocktail stick to prevent the corners of the bread turning up the other meals were just as bad with a bowl of rice with scrambled egg on the top left from breakfast you it got to the point where we started buying drinks and food from the supermarket because you were embarassed to ask for any thing, if you liked watered down greek brandy vodka, wine or lager watered down like pee you would be ok but even that was stopped at 11 o clock when we asked for a tray to carry our drinks was told by the bar man he would get the sack if he borrowed us the tray as he only had one the cleaners were friendly and in all fairness they tried hard to make the rooms nice but it is like making a sows ear into a silk purse the hotel is in much need of a refurbishment and ASAP!
all in all I think the hotel makes up 90% of your holiday on arrival i would of paid the £1800 willingly to come home Corfu island is heaven on earth but the Magna Greacis is a hell hole! if we hadnt experienced all inclusive before i would deffinately been put off by this hotel the whole hotel is like something from the 70s not even the 80s my advice unless you are desperart DONT GO also the hill getting there you need to be a rock climber Dai only good thing was the air conditioning

Room Tip: just dont go

We had a holiday week in Magna Graecia Hotel in June 2013 and understood that it was a very lucky choice - friendly staff, clean room, good kitchen ( fresh and different food for any taste).
It was always a big pleasure to meet a manager Thomas in restaurant with his smile and willingness to help with any problem. He is a very friendly, patient and professional person.
Magna Graecia Hotel is very near to the beach, so you can swim as often as you want , 5 min - and you are in the sea, that's great!
The hotel is green and full of flowers, a very nice view around.
We enjoyed our week in Magna Graecia very much, many thanks to everybody of the hotel's staff.

Room Tip: I'd like to recommend only one thing to the new comers - to ask for a room on the 2d or the 3d f...

booked 12 night all incl at the Magna Grecia as looked a decent 4 star for the price. When we arrived at 1330 room wasnt quite ready so had to wait a few minutes before being led from the main hotel past next hotel and then taken into the Hotel Tina which is a 2 star b&b.This meant walking back and fro each time we wanted adrink as no bar at the Tina. Was told by staff at the MG that the Tina was part of the hotel and was an annexe and was still 4 star but notice in rooms clearly stated it is 2 star and owners of the Tina confirmed that the MG rented rooms from them when they were busy. Most brits we spoke to had been put in one of 3 hotels away from the MG so if you want 4 star all inc dont go there but if you want decvent 2 star b&b i would book the Tina and save a few bob

Room Tip: book another hotel if you want 4 star
