IGNORE THE "PROFESSIONAL COMPLAINERS" We say,go with an open mind and enjoy the sun...
We're just back from 9 nights here and found the Hotel on the whole, perfectly adequate. When we arrived we were at first offered a ground floor room, unfortunately the sliding patio door did not lock, so we went back to reception and asked for an alternative. We were offered another room on the spot. Not to sound like a professional complainer myself, I felt that the view of room 2 was a bit disappointing. Again, I returned to reception and asked for a room with a nicer view, if possible, and offered to pay a supplement. This was not necessary as Birgit and the reservations manager handed me a 3rd room key and invited me to.. "have a look at this one..." Room 3 was fitted out exactly the same as the other 2 but had the added bonus of being on the rear, overlooking very quiet gardens and had a snippet of sea view - good enough for me!
I agree with the other reviewers in that this Hotel would most definitely benefit from a lick of paint and a program of modernisation. I think it's fair to say that given the economic situation in Greece currently that this is unlikely to happen anytime soon. So if you want modern accomodation try the Chandris Hotels, just over the road.
Dassia and Ipsos, the neighbouring resort were both pretty quiet but started to pick up towards the end of our holiday. Perhaps, we too, went too early in the Season. That said, we didn't want a rowdy break, we went for the peace and quiet and to unwind and relax. Mission accomplished for us then, as we both came home feeling refreshed, relaxed and re-energised!
Big compliments go to all of the staff at this hotel, each and every one of them, we felt, went out of their way to make us feel welcomed! In particular it has to be said we were especially well looked after by GIANIS (sorry if spelt incorrectly) who was the pool barman, extremely charming and polite. And of course the hotels fantastic Animation team TONI and TEOFANA, who we feel really made our stay with their range of activities. This by the way included Morning Stretching, table tennis, aqua gym, darts (which you must get involved with, this was a fantastic way to get to know some of the other guests at the hotel, including amongst other nationalites Lydia the Polish lady, Eryk the Dutch man, Christian, Lydias son etc to name a couple, lol) Not forgetting the lovely Les and Tony from Swindon:o) And the big group from Crewe who were great fun !
The restaurant facilities and the food we also found to be better than reviewed, we never failed to find a meal that was hot and tasty ! If I had to find a negative here it would be that I thought the restaurant manager could / should be a bit more "hands on" in my humble opinion. A couple of nights the staff looked a bit overstretched and i didnt see him doing a great deal to assist them!
All in all, we had a terrific time and would not hesitate in recommending and revisiting this hotel !
