“Nice Hotel in perfect location”
Reviewed August 4, 2010

I agree with the last post with regards the Elea Beach Hotel we had a lovely week there and found it very clean and the location was perfect very safe to walk about even for children . The hotel staff were excellant and could not do enough for you we upgraded to a sea view room well worth the money and also we upgraded to A/I which gave you free use of sun beds which you could either use at the pool/gardens or use them at the beach which was great otherwise you have to pay for them. The rooms are a bit dated but spotless and very spacious with free safe in room, fridge ,T.V. hairdrier etc. beds very comfortable and the maids changed the bed linen/towels every day and kept the room spotless the hotel was nice and quiet at night so no problem getting a good nights sleep. The food in the resturaunt was also very good and we had no problem finding something we liked and I am a very fussy eater. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who likes it quiet and right on the beach. I would go back here in a minute just to unwind and relax at a goog hotel at a very reasonable price.

As a young woman travelling on her own, I have to say that I felt safer here than anywhere I've been on my own in the UK. The Elea beach is a lovely hotel, with wonderful staff and a perfect location. The hotel is probably about 90% German holiday makers, which is great if you've left the UK to get away from the English!
Food is of very good quality, but there are plenty of excellent restaurants close at hand.
'Aimation' (evening entertainment) is good fun, but going down early can be advisable to get a seat where you can see the stage.
The beach is lovely, as are the pools, however the deeper pool does need a bit of TLC.
I will be back!

Chose this hotel in preference to others in Dassia because Trip Advisors rated the food highly. People weren't as impressed with the food at other, slightly more expensive hotels in the vicinity eg Dassia Chandris, Corfu Chandris. In hindsight we'd have gone for one of the other hotels.

Comments

*The food was good (no more no less) - buffet style, good choice.
*The rooms were disappointing - 2.5 stars - mould around tiles / taps in bathroom. Carpet old and marked, walls painted (magnolia) concrete
*Housekeeping was very good - hotel rooms are "tired" but are kept clean
*Location (Dassia) - is as far away from Corfu Town as I'd want to be
*Location of Elea Beach is good - away from roads
*Staff were generally very good - some weren't exactly the life and soul - but it was the end of the season and didn't cause us any problems
*Don't go any later than mid September unless you're not concerned about resorts closing down
*the wine at the hotel was Ok and very cheap !! - 2.80 euros for a half carafe
*the hotel caters for "all inclusive" - I'm not sure whether thats really good for other customers (we were half board) or the local economy!
*Hotel cats very friendly!

A hotel that charges 170 euro per night should at least offer a lot of relaxation to its guests. Contrary to this, the hotel due to terms imposed by travel agencies offers "animation" programmes with loud music at the pool (in front of the rooms) from 10.00 in the morning. It was a bad experience to go on a vacation, pay 170 euro per night and to wake up by the music in the morning. additionally, every night from 21.00 to 00.00 there was loud music again. I do not understand why someone that goes on vacation can not sleep before 00.00. Additionally, the hotel is more like a three star hotel and not a four star. The breakfast is not acceptable for the prices charged, as it did not even include some sweets (e.g croissants). Moreover we noticed a lot of flies on the foods in the buffet. Concluding, the hotel without being terrible, does not offer facilities and amenities for the prices charged. This hotel should not charge more than 80 euros per night. At that price it would be acceptable.
The noise of the music was terriblle!!! We wanted a hotel and not a beach bar!!!!

Elea beach is a lovely quiet hotel with friendly helpful Greek people. Very clean - maid service everyday. Large choice of tasty food. however, in May there is very little entertainment and Dassia only has 1 street of shops and bars and restaurants. NB this is a German hotel and hence there were alot of Germans (90%). Take extra money on All inclusive option as spirits have to be paid for - only Ouzo and cocktails were free.

I wouldn't normally write a review after returning from holiday but I had such a great holiday so will make an exception this once! We stayed here on an all inclusive basis, which was just perfect - great wine, good beer, utterly fantastic food with loads of variety, fabulously friendly staff - from the chambermaids to the bar staff and hotel manager everyone was welcoming and charming. Our room was cleaned every day and was spotless. We got a very cheap hire car through the hotel whcih we were more than satsfied with - half the price of the tour operators option. The hotel is right on the beach so morning swims were possible and although the beach is not sandy, the views to Albania and mainland Greece across the sea more than make up for any short falls. It's located in Dassia which is nothing like its tacky counterparts like Sidari and Rodos and the little resort maintains charm while still being lively and fun. Despite some unfortunate weather (not the hotel's fault - it was October!) we had a fabulous holiday and felt truly at home at the Elea Beach. I would recommend to anyone not looking for an 18-30 style holiday, but after a relaxing time with some lovely people and great food.

We stayed for a week all inclusive in August this year (husband, wife, 15year old son and his friend). On arrival we had a problem as our rooms smelt smoky which as non smokers we could not tolerate, however we were quickly moved to alternative rooms which were better.

We had no problems communicating with staff, rooms were cleaned daily to a good standard.

English guests were in the minority but was not a problem if we wanted to be the majority we'd have gone to Cornwall.

Hotel is situated directly on the beach which was pebbly, but the pain was overcome by cheap shoes from the hotel shop. Free sunbeds, happily carried by "pool boy" each morning and as non all inclusive guests had to pay for theirs no one put towels out in the morning ready for later. Plenty of watersports for the boys and boat trips available from beach cheaper than from travel reps. Various bars and eateries along the beach in both directions, offering a good variety of foods. Only 5 minute walk to Dassia's main street for lots of shops, bars etc.

Dining room staff did seem a little miserable at times but we found that if you gave them a smile they weren't so bad. We found the food very good, plenty of choice for every taste, no one should go hungry. It didn't matter that the plates were small, you just go back for seconds if you're still hungry. It does stop people from taking too much and wasting the food. Puddings were very good.

The bar staff were great, very friendly. The all inclusive bar list was not extensive but other drinks could be bought and prices were not expensive.

The pool was salt water but a good depth and was shaded late afternoon so there was somewhere to swim if you needed to be shaded. Also good area of garden with which was available for sun and shadebathing.

Our only real problem was our sons friend having his mobile phone stolen whilst walking back to hotel late at night, but that could happen anywhere! (so don't text whilst walking).Otherwise seemed relatively safe.

Small amount of daytime entertainment, but we found weather too hot to allow participation. Evening entertainment 6/7 nights, Greek dancing, kiddy discos, the usual things you'd expect.

Even if you're all inclusive the staff still appreciate a tip every now and again and it does help with the service!

One euro for the bus into Corfu Town, good value. Would recommend going early, plenty of nice shops, bars, restaurants, McDonalds if you're desperate and a land train for non walking sightseeing @ 4 euros each for 1/2 hour trip. Taxi back to hotel varied from 15-25 euros depending of time of day, don't forget to check price before you get in.

We would definately return, but half board not all inclusive as it really is cheap to eat out. (Although we were all inclusive we did eat out a couple of times)
