“More than just a cottage and friendly staff too..”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 25, 2013

My family stayed here for a 4 night break as a last minute getaway during half term. This was the off season and therefore deserted in terms of other holiday makers but this did not put off the staff at the reception from being exceptionally helpful. We hired bikes for a morning and were offered a series of small routes to try out which we did. I also asked for recommendations for a few days out and this was met with a barrage of useful suggestions that were suitable for us. We ended up hiring a small boat from Wroxham travelling to a pub for lunch before stopping off at Wroxham barns on the way home Once we’d dropped the boat back).

The accommodation we stayed in was the Courtyard Cottage which was warm, clean and adequately furnished for a large family although I’d perhaps say it would be cramped if occupied by it’s potential full capacity of 8 adults.

Unfortunately the onsite shop and pub was closed due to it being off season which is to be expected as custom would’ve not meant it profitable to open.

Our children loved the onsite zip wires, tree house and cycle route through the woods too. A car is mandatory as it is quite isolated seeing as the local village is Acle just 3 miles away.

I'll start by admitting I am not a camper and was rather unsure about how this trip would go, but Clippesby exceeded my best hopes by miles.

You really couldn't ask for more from a campsite. The staff are efficient, knowledgeable and very friendly.

The environment is particularly special as it seems like everyone cares about the site and the facilities were always lovely and clean throughout our stay.

I wholeheartedly recommend this site and am now a camping convert... but only at Clippesby Hall! The only downside is that the other sites we visited were poor by comparison.

Thanks Clippesby, we can't wait to come back.

Have just got back from a week camping at Clippesby Hall. This is the 3rd time we have stayed here, and every time has been fantastic. The weather has been great. The showers have loads of hot water, and are thoroughly cleaned twice a day. Even when the site is busy there isn't too long a wait. The cafe does a lovely breakfast, and the pub some excellent food. There is plenty on site to keep the kids occupied as well, the bike route, zip wires and swimming pool (cold!!) all excellent facilities. The only down side was when the park was busy on the Friday night was the noise level from fellow campers who ignored the 11.00 curfew on noise! Will definitely stay again.

There is nothing negative to say about this site. Plenty to do for sporty boys...bike hire, swimming pool, tennis, crazy golf, table tennis, play equipement.

Tent pitch big and private, we stayed in Rabbits area, which is all weather with own water and electricity, surrounded by trees.

Toilets and showers cleaned 3 times a day, and mops provided for you to help keep them clean in between alotted times. Hot water and washing up facilities plentiful.

Didn't eat in restuarant but heard others saying how good it was, can recommend the milk shakes at the coffee shop though. Fresh bread and crossiants available to pre order for the following morning,

Well stocked small camp shop.

This was our second time camping at Clippesby and although the weather was not great the children just loved it. Really well looked after and so much to do on site. Booked again for next year. Highly recommend it!

I booked this campsite after viewing their website and reading reviews on here. We were greeted by friendly reception staff and given a welcome pack which was really helpful, then told to wait for the Ranger who would show us to our pitch! Very impressed.
Our pitch was in the Old Orchard and just down from the toilet block, brilliant. It was the first time I've camped on hardcore but it was good, though grass pitches are also available.
Due to our time of arrival we didn't have time or energy to find a shop so ordered fresh pastries from the cafe for breakfast (expensive but convenient as a one off) and we went to the onsite pub for tea, very very nice food and excellent service, it was kids disco night so hectic and a lot of the tables are reserved which is a pain but a good night.

The site itself is so impressive, my son is 13 so probably didn't get as much out of it as younger ones would, or if he'd made friends but he went on the bike track plenty and sat watching the Olympics in the shop whilst charging his phone.
There's a chest freezer in the laundry room for ice blocks to freeze for free to.

On our last day, we packed up by half 11 and parked in the main car park then we hired bikes to go to How Hill for the day, Brandon the bike guy was fab, very polite, attentive and knowledable. Thanks for a great holiday and we'll definately be back x

Hired a 3 bedroomed "Pine Lodge" @ Clippesby Hall for 1 week, travelling with wife, teenage son and father-in-law (81). On arrival we went to reception. Very cheerful staff, efficient and well organised procedures. Our lodge, which slept 6, was very clean with good fixtures and fittings. Lovely raised deck with patio set and smashing views.
The lodge had a downstairs bathroom/toilet adjacent to the double bedroom where dad slept. Very clean, good shower etc. however there is a but; dad could not use the bath or overhead shower as he could not get in. Apparently one of the lodges has a walk-in shower, but not the one we had, although I did not stipulate the need at the time of booking I assumed, well you know.
The lounge area was well furnished with adjacent 3 seater sofas, although the elevated position of the small (19") FSTV made comfortable viewing awfully difficult.
Altogether this was a very pleasant break in a beautiful part of the world although some of the Norfolk infastructure is a little dated. On the plus side I found a local supermarket that sold VESTA beef curry. 40 years since I have even seen it. This will only be relavent to people of a certain age.
The bar and food at Clippesby is very good and there are many attractive pubs in the nearby area. The cafe on site is lovely and all of the staff very friendly, especially the young lady who tried to fix my laptop and I must mention the 2 maintenance lads who were great.
Thanks for a good time Clippesby, has it stopped raining yet?
