“Very nice place for short vacations”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 2, 2011

This resort is about 120 Km from Cairo. The Cairo-Sokhna road is an excellent facility with a speed limit of 120 Km/hr. So, driving is nice and takes about an hour from Cairo.
Once I entered the hotel and during my stay, I noticed the genuine friendly smile on the faces of all personnel who were very nice and helpful.
The hotel consists of a 3 floor building containing the reception, the restaurant, the gym and other facilities. This building overlooks two swimming pools with large green area surrounding them.
Overlooking this area are about 9 small buildings, each containing few rooms (see picture). Breakfast and dinner were very nice open buffet with reasonably wide variety of dishes.
The rooms were spacious and clean, with LCD TV, mini bar, water heater, hair dryer, AC, free wireless internet (covering the whole resort) and a safe deposit box.
The resort is about a 5-10 minutes walk from the see. However, a golf car will take you to and from the see at any time for free. The beach is nice and not crowded, but the water is shallow for a long distance.
I highly recommend this resort very much specially for people living in Cairo who want to relax for a few days only. However, I guess that the stay may be boring if you stay for more than 4 days.

the hotel itself is very nice: great landscaping -typical of jaz hotels-, the room was very spacious and the bed was really big.

Butt the cot they provided for the baby was not in a good shape and it was actually a pen set on the lowest level to the exyent that our baby was afraid to sleep in it. We had her next to us in our bed.

We had a nice terrace on the our ground floor room overlooking the swimming pool which was nice too.

The bathroom was good too.

The beach is far away but there are shuttle carts available upon request. The beach is beautiful and sandy.

The main restaurant has a veery nice terrace and it's on the 2nd floor of the main building.

The food was good but not so good for a 5-star hotel and a really expensive hotel. Jaz chain of hotels in Makadi Bay offers amazing food for example and also in Marsa Alam in Sol Y Mar the food was very good.

The staff were nice and friendly.
Good for a 2-night stay

Room Tip: the room in the ground floor was very good, ask for a king size bed!

We have just got back from the Jaz Little Venice at Ain Soukhna. We have tried all the other hotels in Aim Soukhna and, as our favourite hotel was fully booked, we thought we'd try the Jaz. What a disappointment. Although the facilities are very good (and new) the experience was let down by the very poor quality of service. We were constantly trying to find people to order coffee, ice cream etc. but there were so few staff around. Our room was not cleaned one day. We tried ordering some ice to our room, and had to ask 3 times. The restaurnt is best desribed as a cafeteria, and the food was adequate rather than good. The restaurant staff was 'service with a growl'. We didn't see the hotel manager at any time during our stay, and we often saw staff sitting down at some of the tables chatting instead of serving their customers.
In my view the best thing would be to change out the hotel management with someone more professional, as the facilities etc. are very good.

Jaz Little Venice is a serene and charming five-star boutique hotel that contains 120 well-furnished rooms, swimming pools, a gym, two bars and a 9-hole golf course. The hotel is as swanky as they come: once you enter the lobby, you will notice the elegant decorations and the cosy, welcoming ambiance.

There are three swimming pools in the centre of the resort, two for adults and one for children. Both pools are heated, which means you can swim even in the cold winter months. The beach at Jaz Little Venice is a little far from the hotel; so they helpfully provides golf carts with drivers to drive you to and from the beach. There is also a bar on the beach if you ever feel thirsty.

The hotel’s rooms are very neat and spacious with an amazing view of the green gardens all over the resort and the swimming pools. Each room has a balcony and is fully equipped with a plasma TV featuring satellite channels, individually controlled air conditioning, a coffee maker and a hair dryer, among others luxuries. Room service is available 24/7, and free Wi-Fi is provided throughout the resort for those who like to stay connected.

The resort has a very elegant café called Terrazina, which opens from 10PM to 1AM and serves hot and cold drinks. If you feel like exercising, the resort also has a small yet well-equipped gym.

To sum it up; I realized the meaning of total relaxation in this resort.

Booked through Virgin (courtesy of Tesco Clubcard points!) but were almost put off by the unrest in Egypt through January. As the political situation seemed to have stabilised we went ahead with our week's break at the end of March only to be astonished when we were effusively welcomed as the first British tourists since the "revolution"!

We had the transfer minibus to ourselves and the drive from the airport to the highway heading to Ain Sokhna was, shall we say, interesting. I have driven all over the world but I think I will give driving in Cairo a miss - but it added to the memories of the trip!

Transfer took a little less than 2 hours with a very helpful and personable Rep who gave us all the information that we required. On arrival at the Jaz resort, he checked us in and made sure that our luggage and ourselves were safely on the golf buggy for escort to our room - a trip of almost 50 metres. The room was spacious with large beds, its own balcony, tea/coffee, kettle, crockery, fridge, safe and TV. Bathroom was roomy and extremely well laid out with a walk in shower that must have been 4m long - in which an extendable washing line had thoughtfully been fitted.

We were on half board and the food was absolutely excellent. Breakfast consisted of a fruit/yogurt bar, a wide selection of pastries and breads, eggs and cold cuts, two juices/tea/coffee, cereals plus a chef who would make you an omelette or pancakes of your choice. Dinner offered soup and rolls, a salad bar with a huge choice, four main course options (one vegetarian) at least one of which a chef would prepare on the spot, a good variety of vegetables and accompaniments, two choices of pasta with sauces, and a selection of at least a dozen different little desserts, cakes, baklava and fresh dates with various sauces and honies. Presentation was top rate (including melon carvings which are always impressive) and service was good. You will not go hungry! The Bar was comfortable but alcohol was very expensive (£30 for a bottle of wine and £4 for a can of pretty lousy beer) but we did try a few of the non-alcoholic cocktails at £3 a go.

There were three pools, two large - one unheated, one heated, and a kiddies pool. Beautiful setting, plenty of sunloungers and umbrellas for shade. Alternatively, the beach was a gentle five minute stroll - though the staff did at first find it difficult to comprehend our desire to walk rather than take advantage of a chauffeured golf buggy. We had to take some exercise to work off the food! The beach was golden sand with plenty of opportunity for beachcombing (shells & coral), lots of sunloungers and umbrellas and a beach bar providing free beach towels to residents.

Staff at the resort were friendly, respectful and always willing to be of help. All spoke English to some degree and appreciated being able to practise their language skills with us.

Tip 1: There is a small supermarket on site run by exceptionally friendly people at which to buy bottled water, juice and snacks far cheaper than at the hotel. We bought a case of 12 x 2 litre bottles of water, some milk and some biscuits for about £7 and were provided with a lift back to our room in the shopkeeper's car! It was really useful to have a fridge in the room.
Tip 2: If you haven't been to Cairo before, do book the full day trip to the Museum and Giza for the Pyramids and the Sphinx. Ours also included lunch on the Nile and a very informative tour guide. Not cheap (£175 a head) and a long day but worth it.

Observations:
We were taken aback by just how happy and optimistic everyone we spoke to were regarding the turmoil the country had just been through. Their revolution has inspired them all and we did not hear a bad word about any of it. I can only hope that the long term outcome fulfils their hopes and aspirations for their country. A lovely people.

Jaz was very quiet. If you fancy reading and dozing and swimming and talking quietly for a few days, it'll do you proud. There is nothing in the immediate vicinity approaching nightlife. No promenade, no clubs, no cafes/restaurants, no bars. I would suggest a week is probably long enough. That being said, it did liven up a bit on the Thursday evening/Friday/Saturday morning which is the Egyptian weekend when people came from Cairo with their extended families for a short break. If I lived in Cairo I wouldn't mind spending more than the odd weekend at Jaz.

The weather was beautiful (sunny and comfortably hot) other than the Saturday when it was overcast all day but still warm. There is a fairly constant breeze and it can get chilly in the evening so bring a cardigan.

Summary:
The staff and service were excellent, the weather good, the pools and beach glorious and the accomodation very good. The food was superb - though we weren't sure what exactly we were eating half the time. I would highly recommend Jaz Little Venice to anyone who wants a complete winter break just to relax and catch up on their reading. But do take advantage of the trip to Cairo if only to break the week up a little.

I should first write that I was there for a business meeting while the hotel is clearly aimed at leisure clients. Anyway, after 1h30 drive from Cairo International Airport, I arrived hoping to see the sea. But it didn't happen on that evening because the beach is actually at about 500 meters from the hotel... A bit of a disappointment. The hotel is actually located in a huge compound, far from everything. Also, there is no such thing as a city centre in El Sokhna... So this place is only for those enjoying chilling out by the pool or on the beach!
Staff was nice and efficient. I got a large room as all of them seem to be, well equipped, made for warm and hot weather... In January, it is not exactly the case, but I have to say I never was cold. All the room are facing a quite nice swimming pool and none are really far from the hotel lobby (a very nice one!), restaurant and bar.
Food was excellent, from breakfast to dinner and staff pleasant at all time.
Free wifi internet. Meeting room awkwardly located outside the hotel building. Golf course seemed to be unfinished. There is a gym but surprisingly no spa. And no scuba diving around (too swallow waters).
In short, this is a nice hotel to chill out for a few days, notably to spend the week-end when on business in Cairo, but not to spend a week or more...
