Stayed 2 night there as part of a tour. Quite liked it. We had a room on the first floor of the cottage, facing the lagoon. It is very funny, when you open the door there is immediately a steep stairs which lead up to you room. A bit awkward to get up with your suitcase, but it was brought to us, so no problem. Rooms are spacious and nice. We even had a working wood stove in it. Did not use it though. The restaurant serves good food and the bar good drinks. Very cosy environment. Enjoyed our stay.

We were recommended to this hotel for the good food, which indeed it was. Dinner on the night we arrived and breakfast the next morning. The history and farmhouse style of the hotel is charming and we stayed in a spacious room upstairs overlooking the lagoon.

We had our wedding at the Farmhouse and what a super experience. The day turned out even better than planned, and all thanks to the excellent service from all the staff at the Farmhouse. Without a doubt the best venue on the West Coast. Thanks a million to Smiley for making our day so special.

We were given a massage voucher as a wedding gift and one of the places we could redeem it was at the Farmhouse Hotel in Langebaan. We chose to take the boys too, to have some family time away from Cape Town, so we booked into the hotel's two-bed Frank Wightman cottage, which gave us a secluded, peaceful spot just next to the main building with a nice lagoon view. While we went on our massage, the boys relaxed, watching TV, one for each of them (!). We had lunch in the restaurant area that has beautiful views over the lagoon, and dinner was in the area that had a big fire going, perfect for a cold Winter's evening! Breakfast was also plentiful and tasty. They had a Winter special going so found it reasonably affordable for a 4-star hotel. A Summer stay would allow you to eat outdoors on the big patio with lagoon views and use the pool.

Room Tip: For a family of four, book the cottage, away from any hustle and bustle in the hotel.

Of all the available accommodation in Langebaan, we decided to stay at the Farmhouse. We were planning to stay 3 nights. We requsted a room with a lagoon view. Apparently none was available. We booked in at room 15. On our departure the next morning, rooms 13 and 16 (lagoonviews) were still unoccupied! Why were these rooms not presented to us? As our room was situated on top of what seems to be a kitchen, the noise levels of kitchen staff and appliances were unbearable. It settled down only past 2300 only to start at 0600 the next morning!!! We checked out after our first night. Definately the biggest disappointment of our West Coast holiday!

Richard N, General Manager at The Farmhouse Hotel, responded to this reviewResponded August 14, 2011

Dear valued guest

It was unfortunate that there was no availability for a Lagoon view room. These rooms are extremely popular that time of the year, for it is our flower season and people travel from everywhere in the country to view this West Coast wonder.

Room 15 is classified as a Traveller’s Room, which offers the same comforts as our other rooms, but (as mentioned on our website) is more likely to experience social noise from downstairs during dinner and breakfast times. Because of the historical nature of The Farmhouse Hotel with its wooden floors, we do advise the staff to be more considerate when these rooms are occupied.

The Farmhouse Hotel hopes to welcome you back to experience our West Coast warmth, and I will personally attend to your booking.

Kind regards
Richard Norman
