“Bizarrely bad”
Reviewed August 17, 2013

This hotel has been built to a high standard on a great site, close to the airport, many of the staff are friendly and the buffet breakfast was good. Rooms are attractively priced. There is no way I should be writing a review advising people to avoid it - but here I am - for reasons the management could fix quite easily but have not done

I arrived by the city centre airport train at terminal 2. The transport infrastructure at this terminal seems to have been designed mainly for the benefit of taxi drivers and the signage explaining where one might pick up a hotel shuttle bus does not exist. I called the hotel for instructions and got advice which was vague (regarding location) and inaccurate (the driver is on his way). After waiting 45 minutes I gave up and paid for a 20 Euro 5 minute taxi ride to the hotel. In retrospect I'd advise people arriving this way to try transferring to terminal 1 to pick up the hotel shuttle - it has better signage. The hotel management could help by providing clear instructions over the phone or by their website.

BAH appears to be a good building which has been inherited by management who are either penny pinching or incompetent. My bathroom had a broken power socket, only one working light bulb and no sink plug for example. When I ordered room service nothing turned up and nobody was pickup up the phone to reception. I went there to see what was going on and, after queuing for 15 minutes, at midnight, for the attention of the only person on duty was offered the opportunity to buy a chocolate bar - but no apology.

I was very excited to come back again there after my previous stay at this hotel. My only concern was the beautiful bathroom with a bathtub they had. So when I booked a room, I made sure that I would get a bathroom with a bathtub like my first stay. When I arrived at the room, there was a spacious bathroom but no bathtub. I was longing for a nice hot bath after my long flights. I claimed at the front desk but they said no other room was available. I was so disappointed that they did not consider my earlier request.
It was a bathroom for handicapped people with a chair and handles. There was no curtain or glass door that separates the shower and the other part of the bathroom. It was like showering next to the toilet. All the water coming from the shower spreaded out on the bathroom floor (even though I tried my best to use as less amount of water as possible). I did not enjoy at all my precious shower time and I needed to use all my towels to soak up the water on the floor for a long while. Why do I need to suffer in a Marriot hotel? They have nice rooms and incredible facilities but it is a pity. The restaurant is ok but seems a bit expensive for its quality. I told them that I am not going to stay in this hotel again.
If you stay there, please make sure to get a bathtub and not a shower with leaking floor.

Room Tip: Good luck for not a room with a horrible shower.

The airport hotel is 2 km from the airport, and although the hotel provides a shuttle bus, the information about where it leaves from, and at what time is only in Spanish on the hotel website.
We couldn't find find the bus, and therefore ended up paying for a taxi to go the short distance. It cost 20 euros.
Nice hotel with a garden and pool, but again unless you're a linguist you'll struggle to establish this on the website!

Room Tip: A find out about the transfer bus

we stayed in this hotel three nights, one in the first leg of the trip, and two on the last leg of the trip for my outbound flight home. In the first stay, we did not know which (or where) the hotel shuttle would pick us up at the airport. this was partly our fault in not researching on time, so we ended up getting a cab to the hotel for 20 euros (even the cabbie felt bad for charging so much for such short distance). the hotel was formerly the Renaissance franchise, so it has a very modern flair and a certain elegant touch other airport hotels lack. For starters, the lobby is vast and ample for travelers wheeling their luggage quickly in and out. The staff is friendly and accommodating, we checked in in less than 10 minutes and our room was ample, clean and modern to European standards. Let me say we LOVED THE POOL! please take a bathing suit so you can dip in this aquatherapy experience with jetted built in full body massagers. they also have the swan fountains to massage your back. this is found in spa's all over the world, and is available at their pool. amazing! breakfast was included and was also varied with eggs, deli meats, cheeses, juices , coffee , pastries and other delicious spanish ham. they also offer a shuttle to las ramblas BE SURE TO RESERVE A SPOT for this shuttle AHEAD OF TIME, they fill up quickly and this can save u some serious dough if you plan to visit las ramblas and barrio gotico. take advantage of the to-from shuttle and save yourself 50 euros in cabs. over all i WOULD STAY HERE AGAIN AND AGAIN for the shuttle, pool, and size of the room. would not reccommend the food unless you have no choice.

Room Tip: sign up for shuttle to las ramblas ahead of time, they leave right on the dot, not one minute after.

Not sure why there are so many bad reviews of this place. The staff were super friendly and helpful, rooms were clean and modern, bed very comfortable, and the shuttle runs frequently. Price was also pretty reasonable and we just walked in off the street and booked. The food is very average but that is expected at a place like this.

Transfer to the hotel from the airport is organized very bad. The staff doesn't respond on the messages and doesn't provide with all necessary information. And take a taxi to the hotel (about 5 min of travelling) costs more than 23 euro.
There wasn't condition at the room superior double, so we couldn't sleep well, as we were attacked with the mosquitos from the opened window all the night.
