“Rude service - time and time again. My last visit ever”
Reviewed April 9, 2013

We visited Dolcissimo last night for my birthday. We decided to go there (knowing there service was never great from previous visits) because i love their spaghetti marinara.

My fiance had rang up earlier in the day to book a table in the main restaurant section and to reserve a window seat at 7.30pm, as it's nice to be by the large windows, the seats are like a lounge and it is less quashy there. We arrived at 7.29pm and our table was not reserved, we were told it "had been given away" and received no apology. My fiance was a little upset as he had made the effort to ring up and make the booking and said "but i reserved a table next to the window" to which the waiter replied "what do you wanna do? Have a fight? Itw as not ME that gave your table away" I could not believe that they would speak to a customer like this. And it doesn't matter which waiter gave our table away - there's no point in passing teh buck, they all work for the same restaurant! We certainly were not there to argue, and were happy to be seated at another table in the restaurant, which they then set up for us.

Dolcissimo is BYO, so we had brought a nice bottle of Penfolds wine with us - however it took 20min for anyone to bring us glasses to drink from or even ask if we wanted some water.
When a family of four got up from a window seat, i asked if it was okay if when they cleared the table we could move there. The waiter questioned me "WHY is it that you want the window seat so bad?" I was a little taken aback and replied jokingly "because it's my birthday". To which he said "OK"

There are never any wait staff walking around in case you need to ask for something extra, or another drink. After they serve your food - they just disappear.

We have been to this restaurant a few times and i have to say their food is good quality and the meals are quite large but if you like good service - DO NOT GO TO DOLCISSIMO. You will end up feeling frustrated and cranky.

I have to say this will definitely be our last time as i'm really offended at how the waiter spoke to my fiance when he asked him "What you wanna do? Have a fight?" My fiance is a very timid and humble person and was definitely not rude or wanting to "have a fight"

DOLCISSIMO - you'll never see another dollar of ours again. It would be great if the quality of your service matched your food!

“worth the noise!”
Reviewed April 6, 2013

We have been meeting here as a family for years, a home away from home in every sense...
Great food, noisy and patience needed!
But the food is worth all the short fallings.
The pizzas, mains, deserts are generous.

“Good food, service sketchy”
Reviewed April 3, 2013

This is our local. When you want consistently good food, you go there. Don't expect the food to come quick, it never does. They have a huge board that warns you about expecting fast food. When you do get it, it is worth the wait. Open every night and full every night. It is like being in Italy, the owner and his wife screaming at each other in the kitchen, the waiters ignoring you. We have been going there for 6 years, either for coffee, brunch or dinner. Food never disappoints. Service does unfortunately, but it is like coming home to mama's cooking. Always nice and not over priced. Milkshakes are made with their own gelato, so you can have whatever flavour is on display. WWhen in a large group upstairs during busy periods, it does become quite loud.

“Order brunch- Served at lunch???”
Reviewed March 24, 2013

Please do not waste your time eating here.....!!!!
The waiters have no idea what they are doing and there were a family of ants nesting in our salt shaker.
We waited 50 minutes for bacon and eggs and watched people come in after us, order, eat, pay and leave and we were still sitting there! When our lunch finally arrived it was cold!
I called the following day to get an email adress so that i could write a complaint and was abused by the owner Tony. He said that it's not his fault the waiter didn't put our order in?????????
In any case please do not waste your time or money here!

“Authentic Italian”
Reviewed February 28, 2013

Great atmosphere on a Sunday Lunch. Very authentic Italian food in a noisy room which is part of the "Italian experience' simple dishes, using fresh products, well plated and tasty. I loved the grilled Calamari in particular. Service was authentic Italian too! ... Lucky we weren't in a hurry and found the timing was fine. BYO which is great, as long as the people with whom you dine, remember!
