My partner and I stayed here from the 9th to the 23rd. We are both well travelled and I have to say ive never suffered from any illness whilst abroad.

Within 48hrs Sarah was ill and I was 24hrs behind her. At least 90% of guests that we spoke to were also ill.

People were on iv drips including old and young. Most had injections to stop the diarrhoea. We know it was food poisoning from the restaurant but trying to point the finger at any one food was near on impossible.

There were people due to get married who were bed bound for 5 days, all in all a holiday from hell. Hotel is very tired and I felt sorry for the staff as they do try hard to be helpful.

If your thinking about booking this place don't.

just returned from our second visit to this hotel...where do i start..the hotel is great and the staff are all wonderful, but this isnt the hotel it was 2 years ago..the standards have dropded, and there were many small things that irritated..for example no wine in the ala carte restaurant 1 night.which wasnt a deal breaker, but i do enjoy a glass of wine with my meal..be warned if you are visiting with children, this hotel has pimps and prostitutes working from the lobby area, when we mentioned it to our hotel rep,he was aware of what was going on,but shrugged it off..(for a family hotel i think this is disgraceful)..i would say nearly 75% of the holiday makers at the hotel when we were there all came down with some kind of sickness/tummy bug,it wasnt until people were dropping like flies that they decided to do something about it,on our second to last day was the 1st time the pool was cleaned!!!!! all i can say is i really regret going back and will not be returning here again :(

Room Tip: we upgraded our room, and it was worth the money, the room was bigger and you got a bottle of rum on the first and last day

Around 30 family and some friends stopped here when my daughter (the last one to leave the nest) from the first day to the last was an experience I will never forget. The only thing I will say to people going is remember the country you are going to and look at in that light. No its not 5* as you would expect in this or most other places but brilliant holiday accommodation. Food was top dollar, you are not eating in The Hilton, the staff are great, special mention to Betsy who looked after us, I could go on and on everything about the place will give you lasting memories

Room Tip: 5811, just for Betsy who will look after you -, Wonderful Lady

We stayed here a few months after it opened in May of 2003. (TA won't let me pick a date earlier than Nov 2012??).

We booked 2 suites, one for us and one for our kids. We ended up with 3 interconnected rooms: one master bedroom for my wife and I, one twin bedroom for the kids, and a living room between. Each had their own bathroom, TV, separate entrance, etc. It was the most space we have ever enjoyed at an all-inclusive, and since the hotel was new, everything was just perfect. The mini fridge (one in each bedroom) was replenished with pop, water and beer every day, which was very welcomed.

As far as the food goes, we were very satisfied with it, although we had reasonable expectations as we had been to Cuba before. Don't expect North American 5 star quality in Cuba, but this hotel certainly offered very good food and service by Cuban standards.

The grounds of the hotel were simply beautiful, the beach was amazing white sand and turquoise blue water, the weather was amazing, of course, and the staff very cheerful and helpful. The shows were the usual cheesy lip-synced singing and dancing, but still fun.

We did have a problem with mosquitoes one evening, as we were having dinner at the Italian a-la-cart restaurant, but the staff drove around the grounds spraying with their little buzz cart and it seemed to get rid of them.

All in all, we were very pleased with our vacation at Playa Pesquero, and still have fond memories until this day.
