The grounds were beautiful, the rooms a little dated, but clean, our bathroom had a smell that did not go away all the time we were there. The food was very good and the service was excellent. The staff knew english very well and were pleasant and helpful. The spa near our room was broken, we inquired about it and were told it is broken, no timeline on the repairs. That was a bit of a disappointment. The rec. staff tried to get people involved but most of the time no one participated......too bad. A very nice place and would definitely go back.

Well, we stayed at the Playa Costa Verde hotel last year during the end of August/ beginning of September. I can tell you that we absolutely loved the hotel! Everything was perfect for us as family holidays go. From the services at the bar, to the welcoming staff at the fabulous restaurants, Playa Costa Verde was perfect.

We never usually return to a hotel, but we have decided to come back this year at the same time. All in the special occasion of my sisters 21st birthday. During our last day, my sister celebrated her 20th birthday in the Italien restaurant. And may I say that the quality of service we got that night was top notch, we got an entire birthday cake especially made (for a bargain price) and a bottle of bubbly to celebrate! brilliant!

All in all it was a great holiday, as an 18/19 teenager, there is not much entertainment wise at night, but i come for the fabulous sun and good food!

We can not wait to come back this year, and... as a bonus we'll get a pink band! (pink bands are allocated to those who come back to the hotel)

See you soon Playa Costa Verde!

Playa Costa Verde is the best resort we have been to, and we've stayed in Varadero and Cayo Coco. When we arrived at the hotel we got free drinks, and were very nicely welcomed. The resort is very clean and well maintained. The food there was surprisingly good! In Cuba many people complain that the food is bland, but that was not the case with this resort. There was a lot to choose from in the buffet, the Japanese a la carte restuarant was delicious and entertaining, and the snack bar was good as well. The beach area was very nice. It was a little crowded, but the sand was white and clean and the water was beautiful. There is great snorkeling, especially when you take a paddle boat and go out a bit farther where there is deeper water. There have been a lot of complaints about sanflies, but I only got bitten in a certain spot at the beach. It was not much of a problem though. The service was great, however there is one exception. We wanted to rent a car, so we went to the rental place and asked the man if we could and he simply said "no." We asked him why, and he did not give us a straight answer. The whole situation was very suspicious, but we didnt let that ruin our holidays. Instead we rented mopeds and explored the city of Guardalavaca. The reception service is very good, and a lady working there named Odalmis was extremely helpful. We tried all of the a la cartes, and the best ones were the Japanese (Kyoto) and the Cuban. The vegetarian was ok, but I would not recommend the Italian (Venecia.) Our cook named Joey at the Japanense was very entertaining, and the food was amazing. I am not a fan of asian food, but this was definately an exception! The entertainment was good, the best was the water ballet. We stayed during New Years, and there were a lot of fun activities going on! The rooms are very clean, and quite spacious. The catamaran trip was great and had beautiful places to snorkel. This resort was almost perfect, and our family is not hesitating to come back to it next year!

I'll start with the beginning, an hour drive from the airport is not the best but is tolerable, the check in was quick and painless, the 24 hour snack bar is great, offers lots of choice ans serves alcohol, most of the evening programs were good but daily animations are virtually non existent, the beach is pretty bad, very shallow and rocky NO NOT run and dive, enter the water carefully and watch your step, Almost forgot to mention, there is a large swamp between the hotel and the beach and you have to take a bridge across. The food is descent, but don't get fooled by the display of large bottled of "Black Label", they are just a display, and loud words of international drinks are just a catch, If you want new bed linen - dirty it up otherwise it won't get changed, they'll just tuck it in, bring cash, credit card machines work pretty badly, i did a cash advance with sunwing and got ripped off for 75$ on it, The service is not bad when you do get it, but you have to tip first then get the service, it's the only way it works, and forget coins, if you want something start waving bills, or you become transparent to them and they don't see or hear you even though you are standing in front of them, gifts and souvenirs are pretty cheap in comparison to other Cuban destinations, beach activities are included but if you want to go for a catamaran ride you need to book it as it requires of of the instructors to drive it, but anytime you ask it's all booked up, then they'll come and tell you they like you and will help you out by taking you on their lunch or something similar, and will remind you that tips are not obligatory but appreciated - basically meaning that if you give them money then you will get a ride, if not it's always booked up. On the good side the hotel is pretty clean and well maintained, but on the first day i got trapped in my room and had to take apart the lock myself with the screwdriver which the repair guy tossed to me over the balcony, but once i took it apart and he got in, he repaired it pretty quickly, if you are a fan of mohitos, the mint is a rare commodity because one of the managers grows it at home and brings it in whenever he can, and get used to hearing things such as " No milk, mint, juice, whisky, pina colada mix, slushy, tequila, redbull" and so on, depending on which bar you go to, washrooms are a pretty rare find so start learning to use the bushes. The maids come pretty early in the morning and first they come in and then they knock. Mopeds are pretty cheap but not covered by any insurance, take your licence with you if you want to rent one, and remember that "all day rental" is only till 5 pm. The DJ is horrible at the club in the resort and the club is empty most of the time, no city or town nearby. Once i could not exchange my beach towel because the guy has not counted the amount he had(he had huge stacks, and i needed 2) he probably wanted money, overall i got some tan, peace and quiet, and remember Nothing moves unless you throw a peso at it. Almost forgot, bring your own toothpaste, shower gel etc....and internet is slow and 6$/hr

I stayed here for both christmas and new year with my husband and 16yr old daughter, we also met my brother his wife and 2 small children, we had a fantastic time this was our 2nd visit and we are already looking at going back in Oct.
We had a great room 5325 near the lobby which on arrival had a free bottle of rum and all the a la carte restaurants pre booked for us, not to mention the lovely dinner poolside as a returning guest. The staff are amazing Yailet from the buffet restaurant was the most friendly person we have ever met and saw to our every need, also Jesus and Marliness from the pool bar were so friendly and Carlos made sure we never went thirsty whilst sitting at the pool, all the animation team superb at getting everyone involved in the games.
The Christmas day and new year celebrations were much better than i could have expected.
The food in the buffet was always varied and the a la carte restaurants were lovely we especially enjoyed the Italian.

The weather was great which all makes for an amazing holiday.

Thankyou, Hotel Playa Costa Verde for a great time again.
