As with a few other reviewers, we dined here with a 'deal' voucher that offered six different dishes between the two of us.
Dishes one and two were both very good and the samosas were some of the best that I've tasted. All too often, restaurant samosas in Sydney are just boring chunks of lightly spiced potato deep fried in a thick pastry. Those at spice villa were made with thin pastry with plenty of peas and onion and probably not quite enough potato.
Our third and fourth courses were also very good however the dosai would have been better had the pancakes been a bit more crisp.
The final two courses consisted or our choice of a veg and a meat curry. We chose a veg curry of spinach and cottage cheese which was good and the chicken varutha which was superb; described on the menu as "hot", I found it just medium by Asian standards which is just the way I like it but what really made this dish exceptional was the juiciness of the chicken and the flavour of the sauce...Yum!
As with a previous review, we also found the atmosphere somewhat drab however with a bit of professional advice, it could easily be made quite smart.
Byo with a moderate corkage added to the already great value and service was friendly and enthusiastic. Looking forward to going again.
