I like the concept of this place, and it is nice inside however the food is just ok. I don't find you get very big portions and it seems like they are sticklers for small things like ketchup, salt and pepper etc and ask exactly how much you need of everything to the point of counting it out. Also I remember them being voted in the Coast one time for one of the best places to get a milkshake. I found it to taste pretty much like sweet milk. It was very liquidy not much like the consistency of a milkshake.

Chicken burger was not very tasty, on a gluey bun. My teen would not eat hers. Runny milk shake. Generally disappointing, and can't figure out what the fuss is all about. Have never been back. Chicken Little ice cream bar is AWESOME, though, and we go there regularly in the summer. Nice atmosphere with all of the classic cars to look at and admire.

I really don't understand at all the appeal of this place! Yes, it has history and it is a cute little "picture perfect postcard" diner with cool 50% decor...

We go here about once a year, and every time we tell ourselves not to go back, but usually wait a year and somehow "forget" and try again with the same result of poor quality food and overpriced items.

This time, we arrived at 8:45 on a Friday night - they close at 11:00 and it was still very busy with a lot of customers both inside and outside at the walk up take out portion.

They were out of ketchup (which isn't even Heinz, but some kind of unappealing cheap brand) in their pump machine. I asked one of the counter servers for ketchup and told her that the machine was empty. She said that they weren't going to refill it because it was almost closing time. (Even though closing is over 2 hours away and there are at least 20-30 customers remaining!) She told me to go outside and try that ketchup dispenser instead. This one was almost empty too, I managed to get some ketchup out of it, and then went back inside to eat. Meanwhile a couple of other customers complained so they finally decided to fill their dispensers. They had about 12 employees or more working so it might have been someone else who refilled it.

French fries were undercooked, battered fish was very greasy. The chicken burgers were so greasy that the buns are saturated and soggy! This is consistent with other times that we've eaten here in the past.

I don't know - many people say they like the Chicken Burger. ??? Maybe it's the history of the place. Maybe it's the "memory" of eating there 20 years ago but they haven't actually been there recently.

Try it to see for yourself, maybe you'll love it too, most people do!

It's all been said I suppose, and like many local favourites, some folks from away may not get what all the fuss is about. Sentimentality can sometimes cloud judgement. That said, I think the Chickenburger really delivers.

With a small, classic menu, and the rather unique "chickenburger" being the flagship offering, the Chick takes its own place amongst the classic drive-ins which are still around in many North American towns and cities.

However, this is ours. Odds are good that if you're from Nova Scotia, your parents have a "date at the Chickenburger" story.

To go with the sandwiches there are solid, standard shoestring fries, thin-not-thick shakes and onion rings. All very good. This being NS, haddock and chips are available. Always fresh fish.

For me, the real star of the show is the cheeseburger. It does not get top billing, but its a real treat. Verging on being a slider, its perfect balanced simplicity in a soft steamed bun. A burger purist will really appreciate it.

Service is fast and friendly, a hallmark of the place. They actually pay their people a few bucks more, and it shows.

All of this while competing with mega-schlock chains.

Thanks Mickey!

Although it advertises chicken burgers, which are great, the fish is also delicious. Make sure to order a milkshake, as well.
