It's all been said I suppose, and like many local favourites, some folks from away may not get what all the fuss is about. Sentimentality can sometimes cloud judgement. That said, I think the Chickenburger really delivers.
With a small, classic menu, and the rather unique "chickenburger" being the flagship offering, the Chick takes its own place amongst the classic drive-ins which are still around in many North American towns and cities.
However, this is ours. Odds are good that if you're from Nova Scotia, your parents have a "date at the Chickenburger" story.
To go with the sandwiches there are solid, standard shoestring fries, thin-not-thick shakes and onion rings. All very good. This being NS, haddock and chips are available. Always fresh fish.
For me, the real star of the show is the cheeseburger. It does not get top billing, but its a real treat. Verging on being a slider, its perfect balanced simplicity in a soft steamed bun. A burger purist will really appreciate it.
Service is fast and friendly, a hallmark of the place. They actually pay their people a few bucks more, and it shows.
All of this while competing with mega-schlock chains.
