“Hidden Gem in Bedford”

Many thanks Diane and Martin, for the wonderful stay in your beautiful Heritage home! You are such gracious hosts and your home is beautifully and authentically decorated. Beautiful linens, furnishings, and interesting photographs of the Bedford area in times past throughout this Heritage home! The decor in the room in which we were able to stay was fantastic! Everything was immaculately kept! Thank you for the wonderful breakfasts--three course meals every day and always exceptional and sustained us through until mid afternoon! Your suggestions for things to see and do in the area were most helpful, making our visit to the area even more enjoyable! Thanks for making our stay here so memorable and enjoyable!

We stayed at a lot of B&B's and by far this was our best experience ever. Our friends highly recommended this place to us after they stayed here last summer.

Diane and Martin have done an amazing job restoring this beautiful 1870 circa home. The atmosphere is friendly and warm. The B&B is in a great location, only 15 minute drive from the Halifax airport and 15 minute drive to Halifax. There is a great water view from the very spacious and gorgeous Heritage Suite window. This place is very clean and quiet and the bed was very comfortable.

The gardens are beautiful. We especially enjoyed the serenity of the lit up fountain in the back yard garden while sitting on the verandah at night.

One of the highlights of our stay here was the amazing breakfasts! We were here for 5 days and every day was a new experience of plentiful, delicious and flavorful breakfasts and great conversations. We highly recommend this B&B.

We received a gift certificate as a wedding gift to stay at Heritage Hideaway B&B as part of a weekend get-away planned by our friends. We love and appreciate older homes and antique furniture and Diane and Martin have done an amazing job restoring this beautiful home. We also enjoyed the historical pictures throughout the house to see past and present. Diane and Martin are warm, friendly hosts who made us feel right at home. The B&B is easy to find and is in a beautiful spot, with a lovely view of the Bedford Basin. Being just outside Halifax, it is a short and pretty drive along the Bedford Highway to right downtown Halifax. We stayed in the Heritage Suite - a beautiful spacious room with a large and very comfy canopy bed and very spacious bathroom. The B&B is clean and quiet and my husband quite enjoyed the bonus of little bowls of complementary chocolates in the guest areas..haha. One of the highlights of our stay was our breakfast! Diane made the most delicious omelette that I have ever had, so flavourful. We were full to the brim with a huge breakfast and Diane gave us some chocolate chip muffins (still warm from the oven) to take with us for our drive home. I would highly recommend this B&B.

We travelled to Nova Scotia for a holiday as a couple with a young baby. We chose to stay in a B and B as we wanted a more personalised experience than what you would expect in a hotel, and we wanted to understand the culture in this part of Canada.
We cannot emphasise enough what amazing and fantastic hosts Diane and Martin are. Nothing was too much trouble for Diane. The breakfasts in the morning set us up for the day! The food was easily five class hotel standard as were all the personalised touches. I only wish I could have talked her round into coming home with us! Diane and Martin gave us some great info about places to visit. Our room was cleaned to perfection daily and the accommodation as a whole was immaculate. It was our stay here that made our holiday for us.

My husband I stayed at this lovely restored heritage property in late September 2012 as we began a months' tour of coastal Nova Scotia, Cape Breton and part of New Brunswick. The instructions on their web page made finding Heritage Hideaway from the Halifax airport very
straight forward. The home is a work of art with period furnishings, gorgeous wood floors and all
the amenities one could desire. Diane's delicious breakfasts held us until an evening meal. This is
truly a home-away-from-home, and I wish that I could return today! You won't find a nicer place or more hospitable hosts in the Bedford and Halifax area.

Just 20 minutes to downtown Halifax from Bedford. Diane and Martin are fantastic hosts. The breakfast is delicious and 5 star rewarded. It is more a brunch with a different table decoration every day. Diane does a great job, we loved it. You will never get hungry until the late afternoon. Clean rooms, cleaned every day, nice decorated. Many restaurants close by. Try the "Chickenburger", very unusual. Own TV and living room. Parking on the grounds. Excellent WiFi.

This was a great place to stay, clean and close to downtown Halifax. I would encourage you if looking for a home away from home this is it. Dianne's breakfast were fantastic. Shopping is also close by. Just take the Bedford Highway right into Halifax. Rooms were spacious and has their own t.v.
