Was very impressed with the large choices availabel for Gluten Free meals. We had the nachos with Chicken and although tasty found they were not good value. Paid $3 for additional chicken and I bet there was less than an ounce of chicken. The menu advertises four cheese nachos but there only seemed to be one and not much of it. Will be back to try other menu items but will skip the nachos!

The pub quiz nights are great and this is when I usually visit. They have great beer drinks -- the root beer shandy. Sweet potato fries and the Caesar salad are our favourite menu staples.

Finbar's is cosy. As in small, warm, comfortable. Staff is the friendliest I have encountered, and the owners, Pam and MIke, make you feel like one of the family. The dark-stained wood panels and furniture yield an authentic air, in spite of the strip-mall location overlooking a very busy parking lot.

They serve a lot of Irish beverages here. Guinness is king, poured traditionally in 119.5 seconds, with a shamrock embossed head of foam. But you will also find local beers, including the micro-brewery Propeller (who also make an excellent root beer).

But I come here often for the food, not your typical pub grub. The owners were in Ireland last year and brought back recipes from many of the spots they visited. There is not as much lamb on the menu as there used to be, but their lamb burger is a favourite of mine. Surprisingly unique is their nachos, drizzled with portobello mushrooms, caramelized onions and chilis. Don't judge the nachos by what you get on Argyle St., these stand on their own. Seafood chowder use to have a few whole muscles floating on top, thick cream and lots of fresh dill, but the current version is not quite as spectacular, but still chock full of seafood and flavour.

The favourites that have stood the test of menu refreshes include spinach salad (with pistachios, goat cheese and topped with the optional smoked salmon), portobello burger (a vegetarian delight that oozes juicy goodness down your chin), and of course fish and chips (substitute the hand cut fries for curry-fries for that authentic Irish experience).

Desserts are made in-house, but it has been a long time since I have had room to enjoy them.

As you may have gathered, I am a regular here. To quote the Casey on their web site and newsletter, "Always a Pleasure".

Finbars has been a place frequented by me since a friend told me about their nachos. I tried em, loved em and am finding myself there about twice a month or so.

Lots of great food choices and the service is always attentive.

A strip mall is not normally a location you go for a good meal, but this place is an exception. My wife and I have gone a couple of times and enjoyed each visit. Our last visit was when we happen to be in the area, so we stopped in for a bite and a pint. The place was packed so we ended up sitting at the bar which was fine.
The service is above average. They are so accommodating and attentive. The atmosphere is very "Irish Pub" but keeps it's family friendly innocence and restaurant appearance. The menu has a good selection of typical pub food with a few house items mixed in. They have a fair selection of beers, the basic imported beers that most Irish Pubs carry, but the food is very good. The prices are on the high side of fair but not to high.
