We have just got back from Kefalos where we have been going for 10yrs we really love the place, this was the first and last time in Jacks apatments!! i dont know where these people who have written the good reviews but it cant have been the same rooms as us or 4 friends who stayed there, our room was filthy there was dirty tissues under the table and we couldnt see in the mirrors, the draining part of the sink was disgusting with slime and flies all over it, didnt look like it had been cleaned for a very long time, we only got our rooms cleaned and clean sheets, bedding 3 times in 2 weeks, in our friends room there was some silver foil under the sink with glue on to catch mice and when they looked after a sleepless night with screetching there was 2 mice stuck to the foil one of which was still alive but had ripped itself in to its disgusting and god knows what you could catch, i have to say Jack is lovely and will help with anything but Maria very ignorant, the pool and resteraunt is lovely but it stopped there, my other friend asked for clean towels on her third day and was told NO she was busy!!! I know you only get what you pay for but surley it should be CLEAN!!! I WILL GO BACK TO kEFALOS BUT DEFINATLY NOT THERE!!!!

Room Tip: Dont stay here if you want a clean room!!

Me and my son just got back from a 2 week holiday at jacks II . We were in room 11 on top floor with a lovely view. Arrived about 1am so the first night was very hot but didn't sleep much. The next day we had 2 fans at 15euro each paid for 1 week then just had 1 the second week. Couldn't have managed without them though. We were told that we would be in room 10 but when we got there were in room 11 not that it mattered. The room was typical basic Greece but very clean and we had the bedding and towels changed Thursdays and Sundays so more than enough. The cleaning lady who we presumed was Billys wife was lovely she even came to see us off when our mini bus arrived. My son loved her and wanted to bring her home with us. We had a couple of power cuts while we were out and she had been in our room and left us a candle bless her. We didn't spend a lot of time round the pool or at the bar but both the pool and bar was very clean. Never to busy. The food was good too. We also payed 20 euros to keep our room on until 6pm as we were getting picked up till 10.15pm, but would have been better if we could have stayed in it till about 8pm. I think you should be able to keep your room on free of charge but hey! All in all we had a great stay and I would recommend it but you do really need some form of transport if you want to go down to were most of the bars are as it is a fair walk twice a day with the beach during the day then again at night. We were sorted we had a quod bike the first week then a car so no problem. We went on a trip on the boat to Nysiros were the volcano is . The boat leaves kefalos on tues at 12.30pm cost 15euro each and 8euro for the coach trip to the volcano but is well worth the money. It is a beautiful little island with narrow streets we got loads of great pics. The boat sets of back at 7pm and it takes 1 hr 15mins but it was a bit choppy coming back so beware if you don't travel well on boats. We also went to see the sunset up in a village called Zia wow another beautiful place well worth a vist but make sure you get there in time to sit in a tavern and watch the sun go down you can get some lovely pics. We didn't get the chance to go across to Kalymnos but im told that's worth a visit too and I think it was only 5euros on ferry. But we managed to go to just about every were on Kos and its a lovely place not too big. I think Kefalos is the cheapest place on the island to stay and its quiet.
Any one looking for a lovely holiday to a greek island cant go far wrong going to Kos.

Room Tip: Ask to stay in jacks II its better than Jacks I and quieter . I think it had just been re decorated. Also ask for an upper room the view is well worth the lugging you bags up 2 flights at the end of the day you only have to do it twice arriving and leaving

Our room was very clean and had all we needed. The owners were extremely friendly and jolly. I really dont know how people (see other reviews) fall out with them. The other guests all seemed to be having a great time with the owners too.
We got a midweek clean and fresh towels.
Downsides? You do have to walk a bit to get to other restaurants and bars, and the road is rough and unlit, but if that's too much for you you can get all you need at Jack's poolside bar and restaurant. There are mosquitoes everywhere on this island but when the wind blows, which it does often, the beggars retreat, defeated. They're only little ones with little bites, but get a mozzie spray and look at the ceiling of your shower room - they love it there! Zap, zap!
We had room 10, which like room 12 is at the top of the building (Jacks 2) - it's a struggle to lug cases up two long flights of stairs, but these are the best two rooms to have: they each have a huge and private balcony with views to the sea and to the hills behind.

Email to reserve one of these if you like views and not being overlooked.

Cheap clean rooms exactly what I expected 4th time in Kos first time with my girlfriend .

The bar is cheap jack and the rest of the family are very friendly even washed my clothes for free because I ran out of clothes to wear thank them a lot .

Also it's only a short walk to the supermarket etc .

will go again in the future .

Room Tip: Try and get a room in Jacks apartment 1 balcony view .

Stayed a week thank god, would've checked out if we had booked 2 weeks! Kefalos is a beautiful place......unfortunately we chose the fawlty towers of kos! They are only interested in you if you spend money at the bar/restaurant! Other times you are ignored or spoken to rudely. Met some lovely people here and their views were all the same. The place is dirty, under the beds THICK MUCK, toilet filthy, toilet bins only changed once a week so were towels and beds! No entertainment at all. Lovely pool but that's as far as it goes! Proprietor was quite friendly first day but his wife was very rude...WILL NEVER RETURN HERE....so many lovely places to stop and we chose this! Yes you get what u pay for but cleanliness and manners are free!!
