We stayed in the Eftichia apartments in August 2013 and we loved it. Our room included a small patio and garden at the back where the sun gave us light in the morning to eat our breakfast, a small but clean and functional kitchen, and a small clean bathroom. The garden was especially appreciated by my boyfriend who spent both the mornings and the evenings reading his book there either soaking up the morning warmth or relaxing to the peaceful sound of crickets and sea breeze.
The apartments are basic, however we found that we had everything necessary to enjoy our holiday. Towels, a small amount of shower gel/shampoo, basic kitchen appliances and bedding were all provided. If you decided to rent a safe, this costs 5 euros and a fan costs 15 euros. Midway through our stay, our apartment was cleaned, and the bedding and towels changed.
The apartments are run by a Greek lady called Efi, who is very accommodating and helpful. She even gave us some cake to take with us which my boyfriend absolutely loved! The apartments themselves are situated about a 3 minute walk from beach front which leads on to the main resort. The nearest beach was very sandy and sheltered, making it good for swimming and for young children. If you are planning to take a boat trip to Nisyros or other neighboring islands then the port is also very close by next to the sandy beach, and there is also a bus stop with connections to the airport, Kefalos Village and Kos town.
The main resort lies along the coast of the bay of Kefalos and covers a length of about 2 miles. There are many restaurants and bars to choose from, all with extremely welcoming and good service. It was difficult to choose where to go as they were all attractive places to eat, especially that of the Golden Fleece (just a few minutes away from the apartments) and the Santa Barbara restaurant with an open top so you could see the night sky (if stars are your thing). One thing we would recommend is to consider hiring a bike or a quad bike to get around as the midday heat in the summer season is very high and attractions can be far apart. This also opens up more choices of coast line to visit, for example Agios Theologos on the west side of the island and Limnionas on the north shore.
We would especially recommend this accommodation and destination for those who are seeking a relaxing and enchanting escape from hustle and bustle allowing the traveller to escape to the authenticity of a beautiful Greek island.
