“Amazing Views”

Lovely hotel&Staff.Fantasic views over the bay.Spotless clean with all you need for a pleasant stay.Fridge in room, but if airconditioning was needed that involved an extra cost on a daily basis.Breakfast was vey basic(orange juice, tea, coffee, cereal or toast with butter&jam)although there was plenty to chose from at an extra cost.Large pool area with part of it sectioned off for children&food here was good again a good selection to chose from&not too expensive either.Only downside(not for me)was that the Hermes sits on a hill&as it rightly states in the brochures, not suitable for people with walking difficulties, but well worth the walk for the views.Would book the Hermes again without a doubt!!

Room Tip: All rooms are sea facing. We stayed in 205 which was ground floor. For an even better view could go to...

Wow,sitting on your balcony with an iced Ouzo in your hand watching the sun drift across the sky with Kefalos Bay below you and Nisyros the volcano island just across the blue sparkling Agean sea is a real pleasure.
This is a well run hotel that makes a real effort to make you feel at home.Katerina our breakfast waitress was bubbly and joyous and got us off to a good start everyday.
Breakfast described as 'continental' is in fact toast or cornflakes, anything else is an extra and has to be paid for.
Nestling below the town of Kefalos ,which is itself delightful,it is a short walk up hill and will lead you to some pleasant resturants where I ate a Kelftiko that blew my tastebuds away.Couple that with some of the friendliest people that you'll find anywhere on the planet. The nice thing was how safe we felt.A nice 20 minute walk from the old town down to the harbour was lovely, green and aromatic.
We ate 4 times at the 'Golden Fleece' close to the sea front.
Sadly this looks like a cafe and not a traditional taverna. The chef here truly is a food God and served us with food that was inexpensive and plentiful. His waiter, a charmer called Roman,is Bulgarian and is good fun... try his rice pudding .....amazing.On the other hand I was served raw chicken at the Gosia resturant near the seafront roundabout and when I complained they refused to do anything about It.After some real rudeness from the waiter we paid and left.It left a bad taste in my mouth and I was worried about food posioning for a couple of days but I survived.Beaches are dissappointing but the Hermes pool is a real winner with good facilities and service.Do go but be aware this is not a hotel for party goers.Families and couple who realy need to relax will love it here.

Room Tip: the higher floors have even better views but you'll have to climb as it's on a steep slope

Stayed at this hotel in May 2013. It is in a quiet part of Kos and is 10 minutes walk from the restaurants in Kamari. There is a beach in Kamari too but not the greatest beach for swimming although there are plenty of watersports at the far end of the beach. The hotel has an excellent swimming pool though. Lots of sunbeds but most were rigid flat beds with no backrests.

The rooms were of average size and were kept very clean. The room we stayed in had recently been refurbished. The bathroom was smallish but again had recently been refurbished.

The front facade of the hotel up to the reception has recently been refurbished and looks really good, but there are a lot of steps to climb up.

The owners of the hotel were really friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome.

Air conditioning is an extra at this hotel so if you do not want to pay for it you will have to leave the balcony doors open and take your chances with the mosquitoes. There was no mosquito screen in our room.

Breakfast was included which was basically tea/coffee, a weak orange drink and toast. For a few euros though you can have an alternative - Try the fruit pancake. The views from the breakfast area are superb

Things to do if you have transport - Take a picnic to Plaka forest and watch the peacocks, visit the Antimahia castle (free), Have coffee at the German windmill in Kefalos, visit the Asklepion ruins. Plenty of boat trips to other islands and Turkey.

If you like to glance up and have a panoramic view of Kamari Bay in Kefalos then this hotel is a perfect choice. It has comfortable accommodation and is situated up a short incline from the centre of the resort with its variety of tavernas, some supermarkets, souvenior shop and jewellers selling exquiste and unusual Greek gold.Further up some steps and a short walk takes you to the old hilltop village of Kefalos. This is well worth a visit as whatever time of year you go everything is open here. Also there is an old windmill right at the top providing a breathtaking vista.Hotel Hermes provides a relaxing holiday in clean modern rooms with the added bonus of a huge pool and plenty of sunloungers.Breakfast is typically Greek although you can have something cooked as extra and the evening meals are delicious. The family are extremely pleasant and genuinely want you to enjoy your holiday so you will want to return again and again. There are some steps within the complex which the less mobile may find difficult, but if you mention this to the owners they will do their utmost to assist you.It is a really lovely place to stay.

Room Tip: Higher rooms have the best views of beautiful Kamari bay

We stayed at the Hermes early September along with a group of friends. We found the hotel to be very clean, good facilities with excellent staff. The rooms were cleaned every day except one and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The hotel has a large swimming pooI which was very clean, sunbeds as a previous reviewer has said could do with some being renewed. This is the third time we have been to Kefalos (first time at Hermes) and should I return I would certainly stay again at the Hermes.

Room Tip: Rooms on the upper floors have an excellent view over the bay. We were in room 421

Stayed at this hotel mid September (on a B & B basis), went with my mum for a relaxing holiday. Kefalos is a quiet resort, perfect for relaxing and chilling out. Probably not suited to those looking for a lively, busy holiday but there are plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from.
Can't fault the hotel. Rooms are spacious and cleaned daily (apart from Sunday) and have hairdryer and a fridge. Air con is extra but we managed without it (September is a bit cooler at night time). Staff are extremely friendly and helpful and hard working. Some reports are negative about the breakfast choice (toast or cornflakes) but this was fine for us but a couple of euros you can purchase eggs, fruit, greek yogurt if you like. True, the hotel is located up a hill, about a 10 minute walk into Kefalos (downhill going out, uphill coming back!) and I suppose people with limited mobility may find it a bit difficult. Kefalos old village is well worth a visit, again, this is a steep walk uphill.
There is a bus stop outside of the hotel and definitely recommend bus trip to Kos town and Paradise beach. Beaches are quite shingly in Kefalos but Paradise beach is gorgeous.
Had a lovely holiday and would definitely stay at this hotel again.

A very nice hotel with excellent room service, clean modern rooms, an above average bar and restaurant area and run by friendly people. There is a clean swimming pool and adjacent snack bar area although some of the sun beds need replaced. Only downside of complex for me was warm beer - they need to serve in chilled glasses or bottles. Food was always good.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in an elevated position
