Excellent hotel with nice beach, good animation team and very good food. Many restaurants and things to do with small babies (clubs, disco, animation and playground)..........................................

We were upgraded to an executive suite with private swimming pool in this hotel, which was very luxurious, however the general design of the hotel complex was gloomy and uninspiring. The main general criticism of The Blue Lagoon Village was that it is totally isolated, even from Kephalos and is devoid of any kind of public transport, which is fine if you want to just stay in the hotel/beach area – otherwise, not. It was impossible to book a table in any of the speciality or adult restaurants because they were permanently fully-booked, so we were stuck with the main restaurant and the ubiquitous uncontrolled children, who were running around to the apparent unconcern of their parents. Our stay there also coincided with the end of the season, so the facilities gradually started closing down and the supply of food started to diminish and become mundane. I was not able to receive a satisfactory answer as to why this hotel charged for WiFi internet access, despite the humblest taverna in Kos offering this service for free. We felt cut off from the outside world and trapped in a nightmarish crèche, where all the inmates were on speed.

We stayed here on a Thompson all inclusive the last week of October. The resort was immaculate, there was a good choice of food in the restuarants and the rooms were a good size and very clean (as was the whole resort). The staff were all very friendly and helpful and I couldn't fault the resort. There is a large stretch of sandy beach, the downside it that there is a flat rocky ridge on the shoreline which seems to be made of sandpaper (!!) this does make it a bit uncomfortable going in however it didn't seem to deter anyone. There is a ropes course which we tried and enjoyed (children aged 7 & 9), the water park was great but the water in all the pools is unheated which is probably fine in scorching mid summer sun but was a bit bracing in October. There is no public transport from the resort, I think a bus goes twice (yes x2) a week to Kos town. We hired a car which was pretty reasonable which we are pleased we did as it allowed us to explore, visit Kos town, A nice but abandoned and slightly hazardous hill fort and some mountain villages (see what the organised trips are then do your own for much cheaper!). The hotel is literally 15 minutes from the airport so no real transfer time. The entertainment is great for kids, I felt they really earned their money! We used the kids club once for an evening event, they were all really friendly and the children seemed to really enjoy it. I think there were entertainment activities every day by the main pool if that's your thing. we made full use of the free waffle/crepe/ice cream bar. There seem to be some complaints about the food, but i'm not sure what people expect on a mass catered all inclusive holiday. I thought there was plenty of choice ranging from traditional to international cuisine.

Room Tip: If you have children who you want to be asleep by 10pm maybe next to the stage would not be ideal...

this is my third time in 3 years at this hotel with my wife and son stayed for 2 weeks

the hotel rooms were nice and big and plenty of room the beds are very comfortable the maids did an excellent job keeping the room clean and tidy

entertainment at the theatre bar was good but tended to repeat a bit

davy and nat poolside did a good job during the day

the hotel itself is fantastic as is the bar service although the difference in the last couple of years not in the service but in the drinks available on the all inclusive side are getting less and less each year having to pay for drinks this year that were part of the all inclusive side last year and the year before you, are getting less and less each year for more money as the cost goes up the range is going down also I asked for some nuts to go with my beer and I was told I would have to buy a drink if I wanted nuts again these were free with drinks the first year 2011

the food in the agean restaurant nice but was a bit repetitive although there was plenty of choice, however there were no chips on the adults side if you wanted chips with your dinner you had to go to the kids section

the Chinese was again good although my second visit my main meal was served cold and when I told them they seemed to take offence

the Italians was also good day and night time although the main meal dishes were not that great but having a starter then pasta I did not bother with a main the second time I went (the salmon with orange sauce does not work it was like having marmalade on salmon) also it was not cooked to order nor was the chicken or pork
starters pasta and pizza were great deserts nice as well

first date restaurant was great really enjoyed it

the hotel is starting to go downhill a bit, the parasols are getting a bit tatty and there was a mixture of old and new sunbeds
the plastic drink cups for beer at the pool and theatre bar were worn out and most of them were cracked at the bottom and leaking and dripping on you when taking a drink these need replacing
tiles on the pool floor missing
outdoor furniture at the shake and mix a bit worn the rattan seats tops all frayed

over all this is a fantastic hotel but needs to sort these things out were are returning again in 2014 and hope to see an improvement

We stayed here for 3 nights as blue lagoon resort decided to close early and ship us here.

This place is beautiful and the beach is lovely and where we spent most of our time. The entertainment is not that great and is outside so if it's chilli you really can't enjoy it.

We had a jacuzzi room which was very nice and had very nice views of the mountains.

Unfortunately the beach bar closed before we left as was end of season, I can't understand how they can close anything whilst people are still there and have paid full price for the hol? This was disappointing.

The waffles where amazing and the food a bit better than the resort but let down again as restaurants where closed and we were left feeling like cattle squeezed in to a small space and being fed slop that needed to be used up.

I would say that it is not really child friendly here as there are a lot of hills and lots of places for children to run off to. Carts going quite fast and there are places where I felt like I didn't want my 4 year old to move or speak, very uncomfortable. They do have a nice kids club though.

Quite difficult to get in to the restaurants and guest relations quite rude.

We had a fab holiday because we were in great company, would not pay the price to visit again as not worth it. Holiday village much better standards.

Blue Lagoon Village stay 26 Oct to 2 Nov 2013.
Overall, an excellent all-inclusive hotel with great food, staff, pools, rooms, bars and facilities. It sets the bar very high for any others you may stay at. The complex was only built in 2011 and everything looks and feels like new. The complex is zoned in 7 accommodation groups and 8 types of room providing something for everything - adults only area and upper pool, quiet block, sea view blocks, near the beach etc. We were blessed with 6 perfect blue sky sunny days, which is not bad for late Oct/early Nov. If you have chosen carefully and like the all-inclusive style resort hotel, you are unlikely to be disappointed.

Hotel: isolated and not within walking distance of any towns/villages and no local buses. If you like the variety of different restaurants and pottering around town this is not the hotel for you. The complex is vast with 366 guest rooms and larger than may Greek villages! You soon find your way around though, and you are supplied with a map when you check in (copy at http://www.bluelagoongroup.com/images/articles/file/BLVMap.pdf ).
The buildings are modern and nicely designed, many faced with local natural stone. The pools are enormous, especially the main pool, but unheated so did not seem to attract many swimmers. On many occasions we had the entire pool to ourselves. Yes the water is cold when you get in, but you soon acclimatise to the temperature if swimming and the sun is shining, but admittedly not so good for just relaxing in.

Room: we were in room 5102 which was just about as close to the main reception/shake & mix bar and Aegean restaurant that you can get. It was a family room with what should have been 1 double (but was two singles pushed together) and another bedroom with 2 single beds for our children aged 12 and 16. There was a quality modern bathroom with both separate shower and bath/shower. A large balcony with patio doors off both bedrooms.

Food: all four of us are vegetarian and we were delighted with the variety and quality of the food. There is such a massive choice at meal times you should find something to suit. They prepared us a vegi sweet & sour stir fry at the Chinese restaurant which wasn’t on the menu.

Staff: we found the vast majority of waiting and bar staff very friendly and attentive and they could not do enough for you. Our lovely Greek waitress at breakfast was local from Kefalos, but many others were foreign, especially the ground staff who appeared Indian. The waiting staff did seem to be under the cosh of a small army of supervisors/managers who were always micro-managing them to the extent they did not feel able to enjoy a chat with guests. The managers were stern-faced individuals with little in the way of customer care skills and did not smile or interact with guests. They could learn a thing for two from the waiting staff! Our evening bar waiter at the theatre bar was quite funny and always trying to tempt us to have another drink.

Entertainments: We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the evening singing/dancing Pura Vida entertainers. The female vocalist was very good. The Thompson team did a great job with the kids and Davey B was always full of energy and fun.

Last week of the season: I did not realise when booking that ours would be the last week of the summer season. We would have booked anyway, but perhaps we should have been told that from Wednesday onwards the restaurants and bars would be closed one by one until just the Italian restaurant and 1 bar was left open. On the one hand this is understandable for such a massive hotel as they could not sustain the whole site as guests left and no-one arrived to replace them, but it did add a melancholic touch to the last half of our stay.

Kos Airport: when you arrive you don’t really notice how bad it is, but when departing it was hot, dirty, with insufficient seats and massively overpriced drinks/snacks. You are best taking snacks with you, but they know due to security regs they can charge what they like for drinks.
