“Perfect family holiday”
Reviewed June 4, 2011

Back from the BLV and felt the need to give the hotel the praise it deserves. Travelled with my husband, parents and 13 month old daughter and we all agreed this was one of the best hotels we have stayed in. We had a fantastic holiday and had no complaints at all. The staff were so helpful and the resort is so impressive.

We booked an executive suite with private pool so that my daughter could nap in the cot in the day and we didn’t feel trapped in a room waiting for her to wake up. The suite was fantastic, very spacious with plenty of storage. The bed was the comfiest hotel bed we have ever slept in and the maids worked so hard, even fitting in the cleaning of the room around our daughters nap times.

We all enjoyed the food and had no issues, in fact the only complaint was there were too many yummy desserts! We tended to eat lunch at the Italian as it was a bit quieter than the grill house but we also enjoyed the toasties from the beach bar. In the evening there was a wide choice and something for everyone. Some have complained there were no ‘themed’ nights but we found this better as we could pick exactly what we wanted.

The facilities are excellent, even though we had our own pool which we used every morning, my daughter loved the kids pool as she could walk in the water. She also enjoyed the soft play area which was always so quiet. There was an outdoor play area in adventure land but the only downside was after the walk or buggy ride in the heat there is nowhere to get a drink over there so take some water with you. In the evenings the children are entertained by the Thomson team and the entertainment is perfect for them. There was a lounge bar with singer which catered more towards adults.

Overall we had a fantastic holiday in an amazing complex with wonderful staff. There is something for everyone in this hotel and it is definitely 5 star.

Listen....This is a nice hotel, but it is isolated. If you didn't know better you could be anywhere in the world. The nearest village is around 7kms away and taxi's are expensive. If you want an all inclusive hotel and are not bothered about not having a little greek village or resort to have a wander round, you will like it. But for us, after two weeks of being stuck in the same place it gets a bit tedious.

The reception staff are clueless. If you do go to this hotel and you need any help or advice, ask your holiday rep.

The rooms are spacious. No problems with noise from other rooms. Cleaned regulary and towels changed daily. I believe most have a good view, ours certainly did.

The food is good (BY ALL INCLUSIVE STANDARDS). Lots of choice in the evenings, and its good to have a choice of restaurants to dine in so you get a change of scenery. There is not as good a choice for lunch though. They could do with getting the food a bit hotter though, i know that Greeks dont eat food hot, but sometimes it was cold if you didn't get it down your neck quick enoegh. Don't get too excited about the chinese restaurant, you won't come away saying you've had a lovely chinese meal, but its a nice change from the other ones. More a greek restaurant serving chinese style food. Adventure BBQ restaurant is quite nice, and good fun if you like that sort of thing (you cook the food yourself). The vast majority of staff in the restaurants were very helpful and pretty much waited on us hand and foot.

Patisserie shop. Lovely crepes and Waffles. All included in the all inclusive along with cakes and ice cream. But the staff need to pull there fingers out. Having said that the management seemed to be aware of this and it was improving.

Pool area's excellent. They need to do something about the reserving of sunbeds, but i guess you get that everywhere. And they could do with more sunbeds around the childrens pools. It was often difficult to get one when we were there and the hotel wasn't that busy. The adventureland is pretty good also.

Beach, out of ten? Ten being Fig tree bay perhaps? I'd say six. Paradise beach which is about 3kms up the road is lovely, probably a ten. But again taxi's are not cheap.

Kids club. Good, our six year old loved it. They do party's at nights which she also enjoyed.

Entertainment. Through the day, good from what I saw. Plenty games for kids. If you do the quiz in the afternoon make sure you've got a member of mensa in your team.

Entertainment at night. Well the kids disco and party dances were good. The Thompson reps on this resort sure can dance. But thats where it stops. The rest of their entertainment programme was pants. I actually think they know it is themselves. We have been going Thomson Super family/Resort for years, and these guys are well below the usually high standard. If you have never been to a Thomson family resort, you will think it is ok, but if you are expecting the usual high Thompson standard its not. However the hired in shows/singers were quite good.

Would I go back.....No. But only because the hotel is in the middle of nowhere. If it was in a nice resort where you could go for a nice wander around the shops or whatever the answer would be Yes. Its just not my cup of tea.

I've given this a rating of four. If the reception staff had been on the ball and the Thompson evening entertainment had been up to scratch I would of given it a five. To be fair the hotel is pretty close to a five.

The hotel is situated right on a sandy beach which has plenty of free sunbeds. The accommodation was perfect, we had a family room which had two large bedrooms, flat screen TVs and a large bathroom - balcony had a great view over the large pool and beach. Choice of swimming pools was good, activity pool provided entertainment but if you prefer it to be quiet there are other large pools to use, one being adjacent to the beach, an adult pool (although there were a small number of children also able to use the pool) and a pool at the gym. We took advantage of the spa facilities which was a welcome break from the sun. The water sports on the beach were fantastic (charge applies) and there is also a free sample scuba dive in the activity pool. The children enjoyed the slides and lazy river at Adventureland and although this is a small walk from the hotel you can get a lift on the buggies there and back. The restaurants were good, plenty of choice - we would reccommend the Italian (no booking necessary). Bars and snacks were all good and we didn't have any problems during our stay. Car hire was very reasonably priced and booked direct through the Thomson reps who were all very helpful.

Spent a week in BLV from 18-25 2011 and have to say we all loved the place! from start to finish we enjoyed everything and have no complaints at all about the place. The staff both Thomson and BLV were brilliant. The village is built at the bottom of a steep hill and is large in size with steps and lifts to varying levels (some people found this a bit hard to negotiate with buggies or wheel chairs).

When we arrived at 11 pm we checked in with no hassle at all waited outside for about 10 minutes and a golf buggy took us to our room and then went back for out luggage. The room itself was in block 7 which was s the main family area. The room was spacious and clean with a large bathroom. Better news when I opened the balcony to find a hot tub positioned on the balcony over looking the sea.

The staff are mainly Eastern European who work for BLV. In general and with only one exception I can think of. They were all extremley polite, helpful and corteous. The Thomson Reps I found to be as equally as helpful. Special mention must go to Baz, Katie and Kylie of the entertainment team who did their best in evening entertainament and always spend time talking to both my children. The Kids Club staff were also exceptional in thier duties.

The resort itself is quite isolated away from any towns or villages, although there is daily bus service to other parts of the island we did not use this service and stayed the full week in the village. As a person who likes to get out and about and see things this is not normal for me, so to keep me there a full week the hotel must be dong something right!

The food was good, never piping hot but luke warm. I was told this is normal in Greece however personally I prefer my food warm. I did hear of some upset stomachs during my stay I am not sure whether this down to the food or a bug that was said to be going round.

We found Italain to be best for lunch and the Agean best in the evening, both were buffet stayle with a good range of national and International dishes. We only tried the Chinese A La Carte and this again was very good. Make sure you book the Chinese or Adventure Land Early as space is limted. We booked on a Friday and could opnly get an early slot 7.30pm the following Tuesday

The beach was clean, safe but a little rocky by the shore. My Children equally enjoyed the pool which was agin safe and well patrolled by the lifeguards. Adventure Land was a short walk on the beach or falg a golf buggy down and they will take you. Unfortunatley ther big slides are only for children over the age of 10 but there is smaller slides for young ones.

Trtying to think of negatives about this place but I am struggling....... Ok we were delayed for about 7 hours and used a friends room to get changed etc for our 3am departure, people who did not have this option were having to sit around reception. The hotel could have more openly offered facilties for rest and changing ( I have heard on Facebook that the hotel had never experienced such a lengthy delay and will offer facilites more easily if it happens again).

All in all we enjoyed every minute so much we have just booked to go back next year and have persuaded other family members to come with us!

It's hard to know where to start! What a fantastic hotel. We stayed from 11th may for one week and 5 out of the 6 in our party can't wait to go back.
Rooms
We had a slight issue initially as booked 2 x standard twin rooms that supposedly sleep 4. Standard rooms only sleep 3 the sofa bed is only a single (approx 3ft 6 wide). There were 6 ppl in our party however we needed to sleep as one room of 4 and one room of 2. The hotel and Thompson reps were helpful in sorting this out however we still had to pay for a family room upgrade which Thompson contributed towards.
The rooms are very high standard and kept spotless.

Food
Personally I enjoyed the food. Plenty of choice always hot and replenished frequently in the main restaurant for both breakfast and dinner. Lunch was a bit samey each day in both the grill and the Italian but nice enough.

Hotel in general
Beautiful setting with stunning views.
THIS HOTEL IS NOT SUITABLE FOR PEOPLE WITH WALKING DIFFICULTIES
There are many steps and slopes at this hotel with only one small lift down to the main restaurant. There is one lift that goes down to the pool area but it is not easy to find.

Kids club
What can I say I couldn't keep my son away from the Thompson kids club he wanted to go to each of the three sessions each day!

Pools
Big and clean but a little chilly.

Beach
Plenty of sun loungers and clean a few pebbles in the sand.

Adventure land
Great fun but a good 10 mins walk from the main area of the hotel. We tried out all the slides and my son loved the pirate ship and lazy river. No shade or sun lounges here though just a few chairs. Football pitch, tennis court and basketball courts available if u can get hold of the appropriate equipment. High ropes course was enjoyed by my brother and his girlfriend.

I would definitely recommend this hotel can't wait to go back next year.
